  1. I built this one about a year ago and just used Tamiya pure white, no clear coat. I wetsanded with 3200 and ended with 12,000 grit, used Maguiar's cleander wax and that's it. White does not photograph well, it's hard to show the gloss but it's there! Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  2. I don't know, I got stuck on Spanishing.....
  3. Thanks Tommy, wish I could have made it.....
  4. Kevin, PM me, I have an extra set...

  6. Can't go wrong with a '57, love the engine all painted in the same color!

Very cool, great job and the colors are sweet!
  9. Phenomenal job on a great kit!
  10. I know it's a great product and worth every penny but I also think it's over priced. With less than $150 dollars you can make your own and still have a good one. The squirrel cage fan is very important.
  11. So many ways....So little time... I would advice just 2 things, practice and the mastering of a polishing system. You can have beautiful finishes with a can or an airbrush, the difference is that you will spend less time glossing and smoothing up your finishes with an airbrush vs the can. Lots of great tips on here though, ain't this forum the best one!!!
  12. Replicas and Miniatures Co. of Maryland carries them, they are very nicely done too! Hosted on Fotki
  13. When are people going to realize that this is a blessing. To be able to sit in front of a computer and share or see what everyone else is doing, don't you guys think that is fun? Who cares if someone comes in and tries to stir trouble or say what's in his mind? Don't like it? Ignore it, it's that easy, there are hundreds of other threads that are much more interesting than others. I remember when we didn't have forums a few years back, I was always desperate for the next model car magazine to hit the stands so that I could be up to date with what was happening in our hobby. Nowadays, not only do I still purchase the magazines but if I happen to miss an issue, well, I have the forums, isn't that the greatest thing? Probably some people have decided to leave the forum, others might have lost interest and there are probably hundreds of other reasons for people quiting but I look at it this way, it's their loss. When all is said and done, when you are really passionate about this hobby, you will end up in a new place with totally new issues.
  14. If you personally consider a diecast model, be it a Danbury or not to be a clean and good looking model, Iam sure your intentions were not meant to be negative. I do think some people feel looked down to when this happens because their skills have gotten better and above any diecast produced.
  15. Welcome back, this is a great site and for inspiration, here is one I did a few years back! Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  16. I don't see too much of a difference on the posts Is it me? Anyway, Bill, I miss you my brother....When are you going to visit us at the club again! Sorry to hear about all the issues.
  17. Very cool Doc! I love red!!
  18. Very cool my friend, I am certainly following this one closely, you are messing my head up with this baby!!
  19. Very cool, I am certainly enjoying this build!
  20. The tutorial was written on my last post! It's as simple as just adding the wash to the part and just go from there. You will notice that it goes on very light since it is very thin, you add as you go until you are happy with the results. On the valve covers you see, I added at least 3 light coats because of the small ridges they have. On the intake manifold I probably have 2 coats to create a little contrast. The carbs and fuel pump have one heavy coat and some drybrushing with Rub n Buf. That's basically it, you have to go out, purchase a small bottle and try it.
  21. I like to use Citadel washes, these are available through Games Workshop stores and come in various colors, this is the one I use the most and the one this engine has. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki I like the fact that it goes on very light so you can opt to stop any time you think you have enough wash on the part. It's also very thin and not as thick as the detailer.
  22. One of the things I constantly hear from people who used to carry it is that they are actually losing money instead of making a profit by selling it, I don't know if that is the reason for some people not carrying it. I will definitely make it a point to talk to some hobby and book stores to see if I can make a difference. I used to subscribe but my subscription ran out, soon I will subscribe again.
  23. Hey Ed, we will talk this evening at work, hopefully you will be on the same shift as I am like last month. I thought you were up north at home today?
