I am getting ready to use a resin 1471 blower with a modern hat. I know most of you guys cover the hat in carbon fiber. I stink at decaling, so, what color do I paint the blower casing and the hat. like they say on Jeopardy, be specific. I was going to do flat black on the hat and metalizer magnesium on the casing.... am I close? thanks in advance.

$7.99 models back at Ollies!
tubbs replied to Johnt671's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
true Mark, I am waiting also. the roof on the kit now is a hardtop, from my recollection, most of the hemi cars were sedans. will they change the roof. that would be the cool thing to do.... not to steer the post away from it's original content. you can't get $8 kits at shows anymore. have to get me some. -

remember, that 330 should have everything you need to convert the new 65 Plymouth to an A990 hemi car. including the roof, if you are into roof swapping. I will have to get there for a few of them. just to clarify, the "BLUE" car was a max wedge car. "color me gone". the red car was the "ramchargers" and was the hemi version. lots of different parts in these. grille, hood scoop and front seats to name a few. I used up all my hemicars. the "maverick" version was slightly different too. -
James, i know i will forget to ask on thursday, what hobby shop sells that paint?

what to do with old car magazines
tubbs replied to tubbs's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
hey Jeff, if you look up at the top of the page, you will see an envelope, this represents PM's, or personal messages. you can talk thru here with someone else in private. you should have a red box by your envelope with the #1 in it. click the envelope and you will open up your mailbox. hope this is accurate. -
hey Mark, one source is the 69 GTX kit. nicely detailed 440 with single 4 and a 6 BBL, 4 speed. the dart kits, 68 and 69, including the 68 hemi dart has a nice 440 motor in them also. the only 340 motors I can think of are the ones in the 71 duster and the T/A challenger, but that one is a 1/24th scale. also, the duster 340, people say is too small. revell has a few kits that has 440's, the 69 charger, possibly the 69 Daytona, done know if the reissued 68 charger has a 440 or hemi. I am sure you will get more detailed responses than mine. oh yea. the AMT 69 Daytona also has a 440, but the above mentioned ones are much better.

what to do with old car magazines
tubbs replied to tubbs's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
thanks guys. i have given plenty to the VA hospitals, local prisons, assisted living centers. it may sound greedy, but i dont give them the old ones. Ron, i wish i knew a younger hot rodder. he would get them all. most of the kids i know get everything on the net. only thing i use ebay for is reference pictures. never bought or sold, maybe i should start. Bill, i will get a list together for you. would you be interested in SSDI's also (super stock and drag illistrated)? -
hey guys, I have a very large stash of car magazines. the last couple of times I have tried to sell my doubles off, I had very few takers. I was as low as $2 apiece for Hot Rod from the 60's, good shape covers still in tack. what sparked my curiosity was a gentleman who wanted an old car ad in the magazine and offered me a dollar for it but he wanted me to rip the ad out of the magazine. Buddy, it's $2 for the whole magazine!! anyways, I was thinking of going thru and ripping major ads and articles out of them and selling them. I hate to tear up nice magazines, but it seams that the market for them has diminished greatly, but people will drop a buck apiece for muscle car ads. not sure what to do. my room looks like a hoarder lives there... in which he does, but i'm really getting buried.

been watching this James. have one in the planning stages. I have to start paying attention to the names, didn't realize it was you who was building this. shouldn't admit that I guess. if it's not a problem, could you bring it to the next meeting and I can copy...er, ask some "how did you do that" questions.

awesome build!! cool not seeing any engine parts thru the hood. don't see that too often. did you modify the suspension at all to get your ride height. it's spot on.

great job Jason. beautiful (?) weathering.

nice. thanks. he has the stock rims also? love to have them but I am going to throw cragars on it. back in 77, my senior year in high school, my buddy had a 70 W30 and this cyclone spoiler was the ONLY car he could not beat. raced him more than a dozen times. so I am building this kit for my buddy to kind of poke the bear if you will. thanks for the info, great build.

really nice looking build. I have been doing the same conversion but need to get the modelhaus stuff. all you was the hood and the grille, any bumpers, taillights? thanks.. I think I need to get them pretty quickly before he shuts down.

matching interior color to exterior color
tubbs replied to tubbs's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
auto color library is a great site, that is where I picked the medium turquoise color for my 64 Plymouth project. I heard about the embossing powder but have way too much flocking to get rid of. I am using a duplicolor paint, it comes out kind of flat si I may be able to take advantage of that. thanks for the tip on the brushes also. -
matching interior color to exterior color
tubbs replied to tubbs's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
thanks Richard, very helpful tips. the oil on the nose thing is an old bowling trick, if your thumb sticking, wipe the side of your nose. I am surprised I didn't apply this sooner. thanks. -
searched but did not find anything on this subject. I would like to know what all your secrets are for matching the interior color of a car to the exterior. do you use dulcoats, clearcoats and glossgoats? maybe rub the seats down with your finger or something else to get that "vinyl" look? I have read little blurbs in some posts, but can't find anything. thanks in advance, Tubbs
