  1. don't know why, but every time I try to load a picture, it says it's too big,.. so.... http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/tag/ferrari-365-gtb4-daytona/ about half way down on this page is the motor I would like to use. everyone had good replies and I appreciate it. to reply to the replies, I have a nomad and a 65 impala with vette engines in them, I would like to keep it foreign, I have a thing with American cars keeping same make motors with same make cars, foreign motors are up for grabs, I know, strange, wheelbase doesn't matter as long as I can stretch it, it should be OK. I thought about making it a wheelie stander, but went this route, Tommy, my apologies, but that was a lot of Greek you just typed out, had to go to Google to figure it out (I know zero about foreign cars), the McLaren is a good one, but I would like to keep everything under the hood and I think as many cylinders as possible, as far as economics, it's a model so I have unlimited funds, as long as the wife doesn't find out. thanks for all your help guys, I think may be hitting the bench soon, so I think I am ready to throw this on the "WANTED" section and start trolling for a Ferrari..... now, what about interior and color....
  2. they say money changed everything........ I know what your thinking, and no, I am not looking for what you would buy, I am looking for how it would change things. for instance, I am not ashamed to say that the wife takes care of all our finances (that's why my runner has been sitting for years), anyways, we had a discussion last night about how we would have no worries if we won. now, I have been married for almost 28 years and I love my wife.... but, I had mentioned that if we won, how I would build a big ol barn and fill it with magazines, models and 1:1 cars, and her response was "why do you need all those, don't you have enough already?" really, I am sure it was more of an answer saying we will never win or wouldn't I want to travel, or something different, but it just was a little bit of a shock and if we had a few million, she may change her opinion. I do know someone who hit, they divorced about a year after (no kids involved) because they had totally different Ideas on what they wanted. it seems the money made them fall out of love. besides the material side, would anything change in your life, and would the material things change who you are and how your life is now.
  3. nice build Kevin. came out really clean. how easy/hard are those decals to put on?
  4. man, its great how a simple idea can snowball. now I have to find more tornadoes to build because I like all the ideas..... will contemplate them all. I may have to get this on the bench sooner than I want too. thanks so much for the ideas, keep them coming.
  5. I appreciate the help and the quick responses. this started as just a thought as I was looking for something and came across a glue bomb of this no laughing.... seriously..... probably been done already I know Leno has his twin turbo one, and that's what gave me the idea of a Ferrari motor, cause Leno has his. didn't want to copy. too much of a stretch? really want to do a custom, a real non-traditional custom. lots of engine bay for that V12.
  6. I am looking for a very nicely detailed import engine/trans combo, something exotic to put into a mid 60's style big boat American car for a custom build. my idea is to take, say a Ferrari motor and trans axle, separate the 2 and move the motor into the front engine bay, connect the 2 by a drive shaft and use the suspension parts. is this feasible? I don't see why not, but I want it to work, I am by no means a rivet counter, but I like my builds to be believable. I was even thinking of an indy style motor..... which kit would be a good choice to go after. I build strictly American cars and stick to the basic kit manufacturers (Revell, AMT, MPC, Monogram). I know nothing about the Japanese kits or any other ones. I do not need a whole kit, just chassis, motor and transaxle. I know these kits can get expensive and is it worth it to post something in the wanted section? I have stuff to trade, but no foreign or exotic stuff. i think i am searching for a needle in a haystack. thanks in advance for any help or suggestions, Tubbs
  7. looking good, love the subject. don't see them too often. I have been doing my own chassis for a while and I picked up on a few things. will be watching.
  8. hey Fredrik, very cool build. and yes you did inspire me. I have one of these kits and was tossing back and forth on making it period correct or more modern...... more modern wins. thanks and again, great build.
  9. really..... anything to sell a car. I immediately compare these new cars to the old ones, some look good.... others......
  10. they used to be up Ohio way, charged $10 to get in. he considered is a museum, I guess. they do have a ton of picts on their cars.
  11. outstanding Rob, that is thinking out of the box......
  12. hehe, it's weird, I was not a Floyd fan back in the day, but something compelled me to get that album. you just had to have it. (same with physical graffiti from Zepplin)....
  13. too methodical.... to spacey.... I like it more raw. Lesley West and mountain couldn't hold a candle to Gilmore and Pink Floyd... but you just gotta love the great fatsby. I never cared for the "spacey" music, Pink Floyd, Yes. Procal Harum, but, I am a huge Robin Trower fan also. go figure and no, I do not want to turn this thread in a different direction..... who doesn't have their vinyl copy of dark side of the moon" still?
  14. not a huge Floyd fan at all, but love Gilmore. saw him in a small venue here in Cleveland back in the day, great show, total opposite of Floyd, he just came out and played pretty much, kind of like SRV does, or did, God rest his soul. in my opinion, his solo album is fantastic and rates right up there with any Floyd album. he plays electric, acoustic and steel guitars on it. very diverse player. i my mind serves me right, he plays piano and harmonica on it also. i highly recommend it.
  15. my key word is "restoration" plenty of shops out there that take detailed pictures of their restorations. also is a Barns and Nobles, or some sort of large book store. they usually have a good automotive section with lots of specialty books on your subject. i have build a fairly good library going to flea markets and garage sales also.
  16. I don't have 1,200, but I usually do not buy a kit without something in mind. I will open it up and assemble something in it, or find parts for the build. probably have at least 50 that are in the 20% and up started phase.

I hate it when you guys say "quick build"..... just what in the wide wide world of sports is a "quick build" that's 5 years or less in my world.... joking aside, really nice build......
  18. in due time, lots in front of it. i will get back on it soon..... because of yours!! keep going..... i have a 1:1 pro street road runner.... fun-fun!!
  19. I myself have never used the product. I didn't know it hardened like that. I thought it stayed to a sponge type consistency.

  22. love the tow truck, very nice builds.
  23. .... putting something "right here" so you remember where it is and you forget where that "right here" place is......
