  1. very nice build Eric, that is the lindburg kit, correct?
  2. I brought something like this up a while ago and it still stirs emotions up. i have not gone thru this entire post but I don't get them, can appreciate the time and effort, just do not get all that time and effort to make something look like BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH!
  3. looking good Paul. really bites having to do things twice. on that engine bay, you could do the inner fenders, firewall and radiator support silver to represent aluminum. maybe cover it with bare metal foil. just some thoughts. keep going. I included a shot of my road runners engine bay.
  4. Gene, it looks KILLER!!! I really love the color. I started a pro street one back around when you started this one. great detail, may be PM'ing you on some tips when mine comes back out.
  5. hey Brett, you got a PM
  6. I hear you, I have not looked at an instruction sheet for years, some sort of manly thing I guess... "instructions?? I don't need no stinking instructions!!" anyways, still looks killer, great job. now on to the next project. side note. I was working on a 32 ford highboy last night, there was a piece that looks like a little front spoiler, had the instructions sitting right there...... nope, not gonna look and I put the piece back into the box..... really..
  7. Thanks for the advise tubbs. Thought about adding more bars to the cage. Well, I ended up doing it. Added the down bars and also put the rear bars in place. Just hope it goes back in easier than it was coming out. Broke it coming out the first time...... Engine has been primed and painted. Did some paint details and put bmf on the front cover. Then cleared........ And here is the body. It was sprayed with MM dark brown metallic. That's it for now. Thanks for looking. you are quit welcome. love to help out. it looks 100% better just by adding that 1 bar. motor looks great (how about a bigger pan, that hemi is gonna need a lot of oil !!) nice detail. was pleasantly surprised to see a brown laid brown on it. very different from the blacks, blues, and bright colors you see. keep going, I cant take my eyes off. getting ideas for mine too.
  8. thanks Tom, I will use some of these ideas. thanks for sharing. do you have a link to that doll house stuff? thank you.
  9. WOW Harry, thanks for the "professor's" viewpoint. haven't really thought about the flocking that way. new carpeting was not shiny, just didn't register that the flocking was out of scale. I will continue to use flocking, just won't look at it the same way again. great reply, thank you. ... and after you get done reading Harry's response, you read his Groucho quote..... from one end to the other Harry.
  10. I saw that too, was chocking too much to reply.
  11. that's great. so what did you do, Tom, to have the insurance company have to call your neighbors.... I have to get stated value insurance on my runner. it's got the typical fire/theft but no stated insurance value. back on topic, I shot some cars this week, a black 70 bee, a red 32, a silver over black 55 chevy and of course, a silver over blue 62 catalina.
  12. WOW, glad you calmed down. I go thru the same things, only learned not to get pissed at a build, just politely put it back in the box and take the next one down. does anyone find themselves getting a new kit (new release or just a new older kit to you), open it up and rifle thru it to see what you can pirate out of it for builds you have going now, then find yourself looking for another kit cause you don't have enough parts to complete it.
  13. that's funny and close to home, besides my road runner (blue), every car I have owned has been black, till now, I have a red Kia.
  14. that would be real nice, like 'um all, but my heart is shaped like a pentastar.
  15. you got that right Nick!!! every time I sneeze, I back fire and my radiator leaks a little. so far, I am good. no pills, great blood pressure, fringe cholesterol, got arthritis from my psoriasis, but other than that, purring right along.
  16. I am wondering what techniques, paints or other things you guys use to get different textures in your interiors? I have painted interiors flat colors, then rub them out with my finger, which give the look of leather, but that's about it. how would you achieve a burlap type look you see in street rods, or cloth inserts found on muscle cars. what about spraying at a distance to let the paint "dry" a little before it it's the seat for some texture. I know they sell faux (sp) spray paints, never used it, any good? how about package shelves, I sometimes use roughed up paper then paint it..... I don't know, what do you guys do?
  17. thanks for the reply Paul, that's what I figured. everyone has real good luck with Tamiya. a little pricy for my wallet, but man, does it give you outstanding results. may just have to take the plunge. looking to do a satin finish on some centerlines, in your opinion, will the Tamiya give me that look? thanks, sorry for the 20 questions....
  18. great job so far on a not so good kit, everything is going together well. I would add a bar on the cage from the main hoop down to the floor for some rigidity. (see picture) it can attach to the vertical front bar or attach to the floor in front of that same bar. keep going man... it's really shaping up. btw - I have of these 2 started and as you say you want to use most of the kit parts, for my stock build and my pro street car, I used the bodies and nothing else. lot of parts from the revel 68, 69 charger and Daytona. just cant handle the kit stuff, almost as bad as a Johan!! let me know if something goes wrong with any parts for this build, I have plenty.
  19. looking great Bob, nice job on the frame. if you can pull that frame off, you certainly can do the RG hemi. you don't need to go to the detail some of these guys are capable of, spark plug wires and some fuel lines will do the trick. you have to push yourself a little each time.
  20. thanks, looks really great. motivates me to get my 32 pro street highboy done.
  21. looking real sweet. wheel wells look fine. I heard that was a problem with these. still gotta love those hemi darts. was really digging the yellow, but if the paint don't agree, you have to do something. 1 thing if I may, the rear panel between the tail lights should be attached to the trunk lid itself instead of where you have it. see the picture below, don't know if you want to change it now, just thought I would let you know.
  22. x2, love the color combo, is that a grey? what silver do you use for you manifold? looking for a satin, flat, matte silver and am having no luck. and if it's good for the strip, it's good for the street!!
  23. WOW!!! very nice build, great detail and nice execution. still don't understand these builds, but can really appreciate the time and effort. if you have any progress shots, those would be nice to see also.
  24. beautiful Jim, love the stance. lots of times street rods sit too high for me in the back when you pro street them, but you nailed it!! motor looks great, that IS aluminum parts right? glad you pulled this one back out and shared it with us. will be waiting for the completion of this one.
  25. scary how fast it goes. I remember when the work week dragged...... now I have what seems to be a million of them under my belt.
