Antioch, Illinois got another 3+ inches. My brother-in-law says he's coming to Vegas as soon as possible. He's getting sick of the cold and wants to move by me. I'm wanting to move back there by them. Maybe we should switch? G

Like everyone else I began with european cars from the 70's-80's. At some point I discovered the South American connection and it went from there to the right answer. I got it wrong once, real darn close but wrong none the less. I just knew that sheet metal in the rear quarter panels but could't place it until I saw hundreds of photos. Good one Harry. G

Why do you build models?
Agent G replied to clovis's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As of November I have 34 years active in law enforcement. Model building is still my way of decompressing. I have been at it now for 50 years. Through model building I have the ability to create art in areas that interest me. Autos, tanks, figures and such come alive during a build. My collection of Marine Corps armor keeps me in touch with the Corps, past and present, even though I've been gone for decades. I build hotrods, musclecars and copcars that I either I drove, or wanted to drive. There isn't much else I can relate as to why. My only comment to that question, regardless of the topic, is "Why not?" G -

To paraphrase an answer to Harry's question, yes, it was a question: "I create, therefore I am." G -
Our illustrious governor declared a state of emergency due to, get this, drought conditions. Uh gov, the southern half of the state is in the Mojave Desert.................................... Besides which, the rainy season is next month. Oh BTW, 68 here today. G

Check the humidity before venturing outside. I have found that 30% humidity seems to be ideal. Too dry is problematic as well. I moved from the midwest to the desert and discovered that painting outdoors in the summer is not a good thing. 5% humidity means the paint dries on it's way to the car. Spring and fall are the best times for me as that's when we have the most humidity. Temps arent a big deal like Richard said, just no freezing cold weather. 110 degrees is fine as you achieve a "baked enamel" finish LOL! Warming the can is sound advice. G

Two years on and I'm still driving my Town Car. I have looked and looked for a suitable replacement however none have been found. Truth be told the old girl is still going strong and just rolled over 102,000. The Lincoln is still the best car I ever owned, bar none. I do like my Civic though, still have it too. G

Joe, I'll spray the thing with a mix of Tamiya Buff, Deck Tan and F/White. I'll go back and scrub the finish with a old brush creating chips and worn paint. After that a wash of tan enamel mixed with a dab of burnt umber oil in all the nooks and crannies. I go light with the wash and pinwash as to not make the thing too dark. Sunbleached and worn is the effect I'm going for. When all that is pretty dry I'll used tiny dabs of oil paints to accent hatches and high wear areas. Tracks get a dark dirty brown base followed by layers of red brown/rust colored washes. I'll finish them with a drybrush of MM Enamel "Jet Exhaust" as that color looks just like a sand burnished track in the desert. This is the look I'm after. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=79981 It takes longer to describe than to do! G

Long time modeler and fellow club member passes
Agent G replied to Kris Morgan's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I concur. I have sent a few folks away for life in my career. Regardless, nothing I did, as hard as I worked, ever brought the victim back. G -
I've had a long marriage and two short marriages but I'm currently in the only happy marriage I ever had. 4.5 years and going strong. G
