Custom Ford F1
David G. replied to Agent G's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I don't mean to intrude on what might have been a private conversation, but I couldn't resist a suggestion. I'm not much of one to talk, not having really done these types of custom mods yet, but the first thing that caught my eye was the brick-like profile that I think you were referring to. Maybe make a pie cut on the hood to give it a bit of a rake and drop the nose a little. I think this would give it more of a sporty look. The nice thing is that you could do it without having to repaint the whole body. Don't get me wrong, your work on this one is most impressive and the level of detail is top notch as well. I just thought I'd put my two cents worth in. David G. -
Very nice detail, cool color, very well done!

Come in Everyone! What's your 1:1?
David G. replied to Jordan White's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Most of you have seen my toy by now. A couple of you have even seen it in person! But here it is again. I recently replaced a cracked "eye pod." There's a slightly tweaked 350 under the hood. Swapped the stock 2bbl carb for a 4bbl Quadrajet. Added an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold. Dual Flowmaster exhaust. High performance air cleaner. HEI distributor, plugs and wires. I figure it's pushing more than 300 HP now. A bit of an improvement over the stock 240 HP it started with! It'll finish a quarter in about 15 seconds at 75mph in second gear. -

According to last night's news, officials believe it was an employee who started it with a carelessly tossed cigarette butt. In my opinion, that would make it even more of a heart-breaker. -
Excellent color. If the photos show it accurately, it looks to be the ideal color fot that Chrysler Turbine Car I've got on the shelf.

I won this collection on eBay last week and I've been sorting through it since. These are the seller's pics from the auction page. I hope he doesn't mind me using them. Somebody had a thing for Corvettes, there are even a few more than these. Sorry, I know that's a lot of pics, but there's a lot of stuff! Thanks for your indulgence! David G. ...all of a sudden, I'm feeling an urge to write some html!

If you don't mind, I think I'll borrow your super cool idea and make something like this myself. Maybe we could do a community build project. p.s. I love the Multipass thing!

Thanks! I can dig it! I was there too! David G. -
It's a build that any seasoned modeler would be proud of! Everything I can see looks excellent.

She's cute, but she's no Milla!

Excellent save! The engine detail is nice with the wiring and AC unit, etc. I have one of these kits that I plan to build as a replica of the 1:1 I used to own back east... complete with body damage and rusted fenders. I'm still looking for a good Corvette dual quad 427 to put in it. All I can seem to find are the small block dual and tri-power 327s. The kit I have has a cowl induction hood and yours seems to have a stock hood, like the one on my 1:1. I wonder if there were two (or more)different issues of the kit? Regards, David G.

What a coincidence, my wife and I just watched that movie the day before yesterday! It's one of our favorites. What you've got so far is just too cool! I can't wait to see how this develops. "Badda Boom- big boom."

That came out really good, Brian! There's a lot of work in that build and it shows. BTW, what did you end up using for the antenna?

I'm not a detective. It just seems unusual to have two rather large fires so close in time and proximity. -

I kind of wonder if there might be something going on. Just the night before, there was another huge fire at a moving-storage company just a few miles north near Indian School Rd and 27th Ave. That's two huge fires in two nights within a couple of miles of each other. -

Time for another brief update. For a daily driver / beater, the interior was still too clean for my tastes... ...so I made some trash to trash it up with. As always, please feel free to offer comments tips, etc. Thanks for taking the time to look. David G. -

Thanks guys, I hope to post some more pics later today. -
It looks like you made this kit into what AMT thought they were designing! Excellent work!

Traction bars! I'm surprised I didn't think of that. I'll have to look around and see if I can find some. Thanks. -
Very sharp and clean, exellent work!

Looking good, Brian! Getting the BMF to lay on those hubcaps looks like a tricky task.

Yup. There seems to be some trouble loading pics on eModelcars too. All the ones that fail to load are fotki hosted. Of course, as far as I know, this information is of no pracital use, but I thought I'd kick my two bits in any how.

I was going to dust up the outside with earthtone pastells. That's mostly what the interior's done with- that and a thin black wash. I'm working on the litter now, trying to get my printer to produce some 1/25 trash that looks decent. The dash & seat color is Model Master ROT RLM 23 enamel from a jar lightened with about 20% white. Chevy's 1955 Coral is just what I was trying for. I must've hit it pretty close! Thanks, David G. -

Just a quick update. I've got the interior done for the most part. I've decided to build this one as a care-worn daily driver that's driven by somebody who no longer cares that much about it. Not severely neglected, just a bit rough around the edges. I still have to dirty up the dash and steering wheel. As always, thanks for looking and feel free to offer up any comments, tips, etc. David G.
