  1. I thought about building it as a gasser, but in my mind, a '55 Chevy gasser is almost cliche'. I decided to go more with a 70's style customized street dragster. A weekend warrior that you might see cruising the strip on Saturday night. Maybe it's time for a poll. So far we've got: Pepto Cruiser, Good-n-Plenty Racer and Pink Nightmare.
  2. Wow, that's what I call hot pink. Nice build too!
  3. I have a soft spot for these cars. I had a 1:1 back in the 80's and now a kit to build. Good work pulling this one back from the edge.
  4. Just too cool! I have got to get me one of these! You've even got the tail sagging the way it should.
  5. It looks pretty good. Do you build these this quickly, or do you have a back log of models to photo?
  6. This will have a white shag interior, right?
  7. This is a really fun kit to build. I did mine in black, but I didn't have the courage to attempt BMF on that much chrome trim, your's turned out nicely. I ended up painting mine and it doesn't look nearly as sharp.
  8. I'm speechless... In a good way... I think. Seriously, it's very well done, and it answers the question: What ever happened to all those Zingers that were sold in the 70's?
  9. Thanks, I should have tested it first. Ah, well, it was just a couple of little bits. I was using Purple Power, I just should have been more patient and left them in there longer. Is the Dawn stuff much better at removing that glaze than Purple Power?
  10. As we would've said back in the day... Bi'chin van, man! I wonder what some of the tuner crowd would say if they were able to see the "Van Ins" that were popular back then- dozens or even hundreds of these full size monstrosities all opened up for display. It was an awesome sight!
  11. Somewhere I got the idea that lacquer thinner was safe to use with styrene. Yesterday I soaked a few de-chromed small parts in some lacquer thinner to remove the yellow translucent "chrome primer" that sometimes remains. After about twenty minutes all I had were several small mishapen lumps in the bottom of the jar. I had suitable replacements in the parts box, but it's still a bit of a bummer. Is my information incorrect? Did I get the wrong type or brand of thinner? Thanks, David G.
  12. Very nicelyh done. I notice that you even drilled the tail pipes out!
  13. Aces!! There's just too much good stuff to comment on. Excellent work.
  14. August 27 Update: It's a modest update, but here it is. Almost everybody else wants to lower them, not me! With the rear lifted, the kit shocks were too short, so I kitbashed 'em! Given how they came out, I may start doing this as a matter of course. This is just the test fit, everything will be straightened and tidied-up before final assembly. As always, your comments, critiques and tips are welcome. (maybe I should put that in my sig...) Thanks, David G.
  15. That's where I missed out, then. I only had one paintbrush- and I still have it almost thirty five years later!
  16. I'm amazed at the size of the large paint brush on the magazine cover! I've used brushes that size to paint the window trim on houses!
  17. Most Impressive!
  18. Coming along nicely, very convincing weathering work!
  19. A cool concept, well executed!
  20. For a moment, I thought the first photo was the 1:1 referance shot! That's some nice work.
  21. Smoooooth and shiney, good color choice.
  22. Thank you for being there for us. As I tell my friends in law enforcement, "May you have an uneventful shift," or deployment as is the case. Regards, David G.
