  1. Thanks, I should have tested it first. Ah, well, it was just a couple of little bits. I was using Purple Power, I just should have been more patient and left them in there longer. Is the Dawn stuff much better at removing that glaze than Purple Power?
  2. As we would've said back in the day... Bi'chin van, man! I wonder what some of the tuner crowd would say if they were able to see the "Van Ins" that were popular back then- dozens or even hundreds of these full size monstrosities all opened up for display. It was an awesome sight!
  3. Somewhere I got the idea that lacquer thinner was safe to use with styrene. Yesterday I soaked a few de-chromed small parts in some lacquer thinner to remove the yellow translucent "chrome primer" that sometimes remains. After about twenty minutes all I had were several small mishapen lumps in the bottom of the jar. I had suitable replacements in the parts box, but it's still a bit of a bummer. Is my information incorrect? Did I get the wrong type or brand of thinner? Thanks, David G.
  4. Very nicelyh done. I notice that you even drilled the tail pipes out!
  5. Aces!! There's just too much good stuff to comment on. Excellent work.
  6. August 27 Update: It's a modest update, but here it is. Almost everybody else wants to lower them, not me! With the rear lifted, the kit shocks were too short, so I kitbashed 'em! Given how they came out, I may start doing this as a matter of course. This is just the test fit, everything will be straightened and tidied-up before final assembly. As always, your comments, critiques and tips are welcome. (maybe I should put that in my sig...) Thanks, David G.
  7. That's where I missed out, then. I only had one paintbrush- and I still have it almost thirty five years later!
  8. I'm amazed at the size of the large paint brush on the magazine cover! I've used brushes that size to paint the window trim on houses!
  9. Most Impressive!
  10. Coming along nicely, very convincing weathering work!
  11. A cool concept, well executed!
  12. For a moment, I thought the first photo was the 1:1 referance shot! That's some nice work.
  13. Smoooooth and shiney, good color choice.
  14. Thank you for being there for us. As I tell my friends in law enforcement, "May you have an uneventful shift," or deployment as is the case. Regards, David G.

I love the stockers. Great work on this one!
  16. Absolutely beautiful, I love the level of detail.
  17. Wow, that's pretty. I love the interior detail.
  18. Most mileage estimates allow for 10 to 12 thousand per year, so a vehicle that's 11 or 12 years old would normally have between 100 and 130 thousand miles on it. Yours is only at 60,000, that's pretty good!
  19. Many years ago "Jimmy" was a nickname for any GMC truck. I'd forgotten that GM actually made the Jimmy nickname into a trim package. If my guesstimate is right, that's really low mileage (kilometerage?), about 60,000 US Miles? Mine's a '98 and has about 78,000 mi (125,000kms?). Oh yeah, that's a pretty color on your Ranger kit too! Looks like it should polish up nicely. Regards, David G.
  20. Nice "Jimmy" what year is it?
  21. That turned out well, I'll have to try my hand at one of these some day.
  22. Hello and welcome, Mark.
  23. A very nice rendition of the PPD cruiser. What year is the car, though?
  24. When I saw the first pic, I thought it was a 1:1 reference! Excellent overall work, the paint is particularly well done!
  25. That looks really good for a snap kit. I'm surprised at the level of detail that there seems to be. Looks like a fun build too. I didn't know there was a snap version of the 1993 Ranger. I have one of AMT's 1993 Ranger Splash kits which I picked up at a swap meet. I plan on converting to a 1998 replica of my 1:1. The wheels might pose a challenge, I've only ever seen one other set like these. At the risk of seeming like a hijacker, here's a photo of it... Regards, David G.
