same thing here, Luke. I need to get this Corvette off of my bench, then a 37 ford (just need to finish the airbrush work). i have about 12 kits started/not finished. i want to knock at least half of those out before i open a new kit. Thankfully one of them is that 63 impala that i should probably go get some materials for. I just lacked motivation to work on models thanks to mandatory overtime at work draining my energy. BUT - fear not, the 2013 lowrider tour will be a good one.

the 2013 lowrider tour is under way! btw, long time no see, cranky.
-
looks like you got the paint thinned down pretty good and the paint actually looks like it went down smooth. i like the color! any other pics?

Hello, This is the official 2013 lowrider tour CBP. Did you not finish a build for 2012? Feel free to continue in 2013 on this thread! There is no limit on entries, and the deadline is December 31st, but if you don't finish this year, you can continue in 2014! I have personally ordered a decent amount of lowrider kits, and i don't mind getting some into this thread. Included in my possible list of lowriders: every impala from 58-67 (multiples of every year, hard tops, convertibles, etc) - i do have a 1963 hardtop already painted, just need to finish it a monte carlo (1980ish?) an 84 el camino a 39 chevy sedan delivery maybe a 50 olds to make a bomb style lowrider would be cool? here's the most recent pics of the paint job (i'm going to re-do the foil): i did all the masking for the pinstripes and the celtic knot on the hood, and the evil leprechaun is freehand airbrushed (if you've seen the Leprechaun movies, that's the inspiration). I suck at painting/drawing people so considering that, i'm pretty happy with the leprechaun dude on the trunk, haha.. The engine (frame also gold): To get the gold, it was a three part paint system: After prep, and such, i painted the frame gloss black, then alclad chrome, and on top of the alclad chrome and kit chrome, i used alclad clear yellow to obtain the shiny gold look that you see here. If you have any questions or entries, feel free to ask and post them up!

I am going to say it's safe to assume since 2012 is officially over (well, three months and 12 days over), with enough interest, i can or somebody can create a 2013 lowrider tour CBP. Everybody did a great job though!

Carroll Shelby tribute community build.

i'm glad to see this CBP is still going on. Everybody's work is fantastic! I look forward to seeing more! -
I actually have a couple of these to build. What are some of the things i need to watch for when i go to work on mine? Yours looks good, by the way.
-
it's a nice thing to see a tastefully built model. The paint combo is great, the foil job is great, the wheels look good on it (sorry Maik, we just have to disagree on this one). Do you have any engine bay shots?
-
thanks for the input on that, and i have wrote that down.. I'm looking forward to working on mine, and i might look into getting more of the enthusiast kits in the future. should be fun! once i get home i'll have to pull them off the shelf and look at it to see exactly what you're talking about. i tried the Alpina BMW kit, but the body was destroyed when i was moving, so i need to get another.
-
regarding the enthusiast series kit... i have been waiting to see a kit from this series to be completed. So, what did you have to do to fix the ride height? have you run into any other issues with it? looks really good, from what i'm seeing.

i've done a LOT of deleting of model related stuff due to the words/language that emit from my mouth. I've neary deleted a finger..or three.. i've stabbed my foot with a #11 blade and deleted the offending blade, and sometimes just the poor engineering quality of a build had me mutter a couple bad things, which in turn resulted in a deleted model. i love sarcasm

So, from my long hiatus, here's my attempt at getting back into the hobby. Revell Corvette C6-R done box stock with the exception of the carbon fiber decals, and SURPRISINGLY i did better this time with the carbon than i've ever done in the past when i was constantly working on models! I got the model used and it had a ton of water damage to the box and decals. The decals are working, they just need to be...motivated, per se. One of the tires/wheels is missing from the box, but i figured i'd find another C6-R model that i can buy to get a wheel and basically have some spare parts. The other option is trying to detail up the brake that's exposed, which wouldn't look as good. blah. here's pics of where i'm at with it, so far: carbon under tray from scale motorsport: rear transmission bay area, which is box stock and i did use matte aluminum BMF on the firewall. not much to the engine bay, just the box stock carbon decals on the air box, and some detail paint. rear spoiler has carbon decals from scale motorsport: overall shot with current status: The paint on the headlight lenses isn't perfect, but most importantly i wanted to get this thing done. I've only got two days wrapped up in this model, and hope to have the rest painted and decals started pretty soon.

it looks good. The stance was already touched on. The only other thing i would do is maybe sand down the tread or dullcoat the tires to make them look more realistic or "used." Good job otherwise!

For those who are wondering what i'm saying, here it is in english: Paulo, you have built a very beautiful model. Everybody wants to know what those other models are in the background from Tamiya. I personally have a lot of models to build, including several motorcycles like Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Ducati, and lots of other things like rally cars. I'm using google translate in order to type this to you, so i hope you can understand what i'm saying!

37 Ford Convertible w/ trailer from Revelle
wgflatliner replied to wgflatliner's topic in WIP: Model Cars
here's an overall shot of the body line. the one just below the door that curves down towards the back will have the gold pinstripe. here's the gap between the firewall and the body pan that needs to be addressed. both rear quarters have this gap that will need to be fixed. There's also a gap between the top of the firewall and the windshield cowling area that will need to be filled. As far as the seats, and door panels, this is what the pattern looks like, and the different colors will be integrated: and here's an overall shot of some of the parts, showing where i've started. I got the motor glued together, but mocked them all in place to get an idea on what i have to work with. -
My "get out of my anti-modelling slump" build is going to be a 37 ford convertible w/ trailer kit from revell. I don't have any pictures YET, but i will have them by tonight now that i have a new camera. The plans for the model will be as follows: Paint: Enamel candy apple red (body, firewall, engine block, valve cover and air cleaner recessed areas, frame) gold accents and pinstripe to match body lines, nothing too crazy tan convertible top Engine: fully detailed to include plug wires, fuel lines, carb linkage, fuel filter, battery wires, possible transmission linkages, vaccum lines, or any other small details i can add. Chassis: brake lines, chassis fuel lines, possible updated brakes, possible modified suspension to give it a stanced look, and possibly emergency brake cables Interior: there will be multiple colors done with the interior to complement the paint and convertible top. those familiar with the kit might know the door panels and seats have pre-etched lines in them that will contain light tan, dark tan, and the body color (flat and gloss) The kit itself is an old mold, and has some consideral amount of cleanup that's necessary which would also include fitting the body pieces together and filling any gaps between the floor pan and the firewall, etc. I know it's been a long time since i've posted, but that's because i have been in a slump and have been looking at my stash and finally decided to do something. I will be trying to build this up to be a competitor at IPMS nationals in Colorado this August, so I hope all ends well with it. The first step will be body fitment and body work, then primer and paint. once the body and paint is perfect, i'll move on to the chassis, and interior last. yay.

I built the same, and I think maybe bright red paint would have worked better in the transition to decals for both of us! Good job either way! Here is mine. I got a super detail set for mine. Here you can see the paint to decal transition on the b pillar. I used the instruction call out. Next time I will use bright red.
-
I have done this kit as well. My issues were with the decals. They wanted to grenade as soon as they touched water. Given the circumstances I think yours turned out good!
-
I think it looks good. Color is nice, and nice detail.
-
This was put together with some sense of urgency for a couple reasons. I wanted to get out of the modeling slump, and wanted to donate it to a local performance shop that's doing work to my 1:1 project car. It's an old AMT kit, box stock. Nothing added. I apologize about the picture quality.

Eye candy is good. Feel free to share. I'm hoping a thread like this keeps folks motivated to build more.
