  1. I started the wet sanding process on my 63. It will be a multiple stage paint process and look forward to seeing it progress.
  2. This is all looking great, fellas. Keep up the great work. I suppose I can start cleaning up the paint and such tonight on mine. Had to give it time to cure.
  3. It's not too late. Anybody can jump in on this as it goes for the whole year.
  4. While airbrushing, something got in the paint so it sneezed on the car. It will be fixed and I will make sure to take step by step photos.
  5. My buffalo came in but I take it home next weekend
  6. Closed doors it shall be! Paint process will commence tonight.
  7. I figure with fancy paint it makes more sense? Cranky, the problem was the hoop part of the hinges was hitting the interior tub. And they have to have the hoop for the doors to open.
  8. Just gonna glue the doors shut. At least they will look like they open. Will be easier to paint too. Or I could get the other kit and use it instead.
  9. I order online from hobby link Japan. Used credit card. Took a bit of time for me to receive the goods
  10. I'm getting closer to the primer stage on my 63. I am having problems with the hinged doors so I might just glue them shut. The problem is they are hitting the interior tub.
  11. You realize the brown car is spray paint, right?
  12. More stuff you can do with airbrush. My bubble paint. And this was done with a can and one shot from testors If you have any technique questions let me know.
  13. I would be happy to once I get the hinge material.
  14. What do you guys think of having a 1:1 project/updates thread?
  15. I look at my collection, then the questions come.
  16. I might have to get to the hobby store today to get the new rod and tubes for the hinges. Really itching to get started on the paint.
  17. I saved those pics for drooling sessions later on. Very nice job Luke.
  18. That's a very sharp and clean build!
  19. On my bench is the old monogram 37 ford "fat fendered" series. i am going with a modern approach with carbon fiber bits and black instead of chrome, and hope to find some decent NASCAR wheels to fit underneath. Painted in Boyd's Orange Pearl over the Model Master Metalizer's Aluminum Plate base coat. Yes, there are some areas that will be touched up after the photos, the main thing i want to show is the paint work as it sits. One more pass with polish on the main body then i'll start wet sanding and buffing out the lower part (fender areas). The top is almost flawless!
  20. Maybe we can photograph our emotional scars and wounds. Gotta be quick with the camera though!
  21. I know this is borderline gross, but I have always been intrigued about modeling related injuries and how they happened. Such examples are the new hobby knife rolling off the bench and instinct is to close your legs to catch it (hey we work on models, this is a natural response). Would it be considered a gross read to have a thread talking about this and/or pics? Or would this actually be an interesting read? It could help the people on the forum to be more safety conscious, so that might be a benefit to having a thread like this. Of course back stories are also great.
  22. I was watching a following episode where the guy was talking about slot cars. He was trying to compare them to model cars, and started somewhat bagging on the hobby. Says the problem is you can't play with them and after staring at them for a while you will get bored and take them to flames and fire crackers. He then proceeds to torch a mustang and light off some fire crackers. After seeing that and his general behavior of tossing stuff (almost everything) around I don't think I want him near my models. But it is cool to get that exposure out there for the hobby.
  23. My project car, a 91 Isuzu impulse rs. 1 of 800 imported to this side of the pond (Canada, north America, south America). It has a slew of mods done to it and is going through the body work and such now. The current mechanical stage is getting custom grind cams with higher lift and longer duration and good for mid range power. Also in the works is a dual stage boost controller and a snow performance water/methanol injection. The body work is almost done. Shaved the door locks, antenna, drip rails, and cut out the rust/welded in. The welding is done and now all that's left is grinding the welds smooth and finishing the body work. The bumpers and side skirts will be custom. Here are the welds as of last night.
  24. Most of my inspiration comes from my 1:1. Knowing its getting closer to completion makes me happy. However I have been on a street rod and lowrider kick lately, so it can't all be 1:1 motivation. Maybe I just find the vibrant and smooth paint jobs to be my inspiration. I dunno
  25. got a big box today. it was filled with:
