The worst part: I had it being held by an alligator clip. I heard a "ping" and watched it fly across the room, heard it hit a cardboard box, and it seems as if the cardboard box ate it. I literally saw where it hit yet it still evades me.
-
That's going to look awesome, Virgil! Can't wait to see it Btw the carpet monster ate my water pump last night. If I can't find it I will need to buy another kit.

alright, some small amount of progress outside of working on my 1:1 project. i did manage to get the frame painted. started by spraying gloss black, then alclad chrome followed with alclad transparent yellow to get the gold look. i will try to get to working on the door jambs here in a bit and save the other hinge for the model club meeting tonight as a way of sharing doc's knowledge in making hinges.

thanks! i'm using your hinge tutorial that you had on youtube. works great!

I need to find the other impalas and will be happy with the new revell caddy kit coming back. Glad to see there is interest!

I built the same kit for my last years post apoc vehicle. -
Correction to my entry. It's a Peugeot 205 Turbo 16
-
Since I'm building one anyways, I will enter a Tamiya Renault Turbo 5. For what it's worth I literally just started it and was only able to get the engine glued together with a little paint. I know you want brand new models, but I hope you allow it in this build-off

Sadly my buffalo hasn't shown up yet. As soon as it does, though, it's on like donkey kong! -
Mines a 63 actually!
-
Here is a start on mine. And I'm going to try my hand at airbrushing a mural on either the hood or trunk something like this
-
Sure! Can you show more progress photos?

Hey everybody! I am starting up a lowrider build off and would be interested in having some folks joining in! Trying to keep the idea of the lowrider magazine tour, this would be the same concept but on a smaller scale. Here are some general rules: You can use any car truck or van that you want. You can build a traditional lowrider with the wire wheels or mags, or you can build a bomb style lowrider. Euro cars are ok too. Paint can be anything from mild to wild, same as interior. More than one entry is ok. Deadline is December 31 2012 On my bench I have a revell 63 impala, and so far I have only got as far as opening the doors and shaving the handles. In progress is the door jambs. It's going to have multiple shades of green over a gold base and I'm gonna call it leprechaun. Gold wheels. So who else wants in on this? Builders list: Flatliner 1963 impala Leprechaun Cool hand (Luke) 62 belair Joker (James) 76 caprice Steve milberry 74 glasshouse caprice Moparmagiclives (Shane) 57 Chevy Cranky 65 ford ranchero Sam cates 66 riviera

Some potentially good news. My buffalo 6x6 should be in today so I can hopefully start building "the collector" I've been tinkering with a lowrider to entertain myself in the interim. -
Virgil you better foil that car or I will head down there... And foil it for you.

I think if you couple the whole "the world is going to end in 2012" thought, that might be why post apoc themes are so popular? Either way I'm at a contest and there's this cool post apoc thing somebody did. They took the fuselage of a messerschmidt bf-109 and removed the wings and replaced with off road tires. Pretty cool! -
Fujimi Enthusiast Series BMW B7 Turbo Coupe/1
wgflatliner replied to wgflatliner's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Quick question on this kit. The floor pan in the interior is molded as if there is no carpet. It's like it has all the valleys and such as if the carpet was removed from the car. I would much rather put a carpet in the car but it appears I might have to use flat styrene to cover the floor. Simply flocking the floor as it sits would not look right. So, would you guys make a flat surface with sheet styrene, flock it, and make floor mats with other pieces of sheet styrene or what would you guys do? -
Now I don't regret purchasing a stack of these enthusiast series kits. I started a turbo b7 coupe BMW and a Porsche 911 cabriolet. So far I am enjoying the build. Now yours on the other hand... That Ferrari is simply beautiful in blue!

Tamiya....lets get it right.
