ebay sellers....
Evil Appetite replied to 62rebel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The main thing that bothers me about sellers is , even though I've come across a few honest people...they wont leave feedback until you do. that bugs me, I did my part and paid in a timely fashion, never more than 5 minutes after winning or Buying it Now..that makes me believe they're waiting to see if you leave negative feed back, so they can do the same. I'm pretty sure that's the case as I've purposely omitted feedback a few times and to this day haven't received it -
What's my problem?

I must have 100 kits that only need to be assembled. For some reason rather than do that, i'll start on a new build. Funny thing is, I always finish what i start...except..my kits. Might be a good way to keep myself busy during my cold northern ontario winter though -
for Metallics, if theres debris in it, i'll sand that spot smooth..shoot some more over that area then clear coat. you don't want to sand or polish metallics or pearls...kills the effect. shoot enough clear so you dont sand through it, then polish. What i do when i'm sanding color is i'll use tamiya tape to cover the high edges so i don't burn through. I find if you're precise enough with the masking, you dont notice any difference in the final product.

A few years back my local radio station started playing the metal i listened to in the 80's, the heavy stuff too, like Motorhead, Metallica (Master of Puppets and Fade to Black to name afew)..while I thought that was cool \I grew tired of it really fast. Listening to Run To The Hills and Living After Midnight a bunch of times during the days made me sick. After 30+ years of being the top of the heap when it comes to metal..they have better songs than that, but they refuse to play them. Thats North American radio for you...they're just starting to play classic Maiden and the like. I went to Europe in the early 80's...Maiden, priest , Metallica and tons of others were on regular rotation...meh..anyway...I almost forgot my point lol..I stopped listening to local radio and got a subscription to Satellite radio...still kinda repititious on some levels, but still much more variety. -

Another thing...when you find someone who has fair prices, dont be afraid to ask them if they have any other kits that arent listed, and if they are willing to part with them. I did that when i lost a Buy It now for a Monza Army FC. I asked him if he had any others. We began a correspondence via email and ended up buying 24 oop PS and FC kits for $125 bucks. A great deal, so as I said, dont be afraid to ask. Edit: and for those who are wondering..how the heck do you lose a Buy It Now?? I clicked a fraction of a second after someone else.the seller got both notifications at the same time...with a few 10th's of a second difference between us hehe -

Most people are delusional when it comes to kit prices, but A few people are quite aware that a model kit is not a commodity. the most I've paid for a rare oop kit was the Johan 442 Olds, paid $29.00 and another $7 bucks for shipping. These people are few and far between, but they're out there -
REMOVING DECALS

haha I was gonna post that Donn...I have a feeling we watched the same DvD? lol -
Make sure those decals are flat though..make sure not one tiny edge is sticking up. otherwise the clear coat will just make that more obvious. Thats my experience anyway

Thanks for the input guys...I'll shoot some more tomorrow and see what happens -
Has anyone ever used this? I just tried it. it was really clumpy in the bottle...not just settled at the bottom but clumpy. I shook it up, seemed fine, then went on horribly. I followed the directions on the bottle regarding psi. didnt say anything about thinning. I shouldnt have to thin this stuff right?

I don't have much space, so i'll rotate them and display them on various shelves through out the house. the ones that aren't displayed go into the box. One of the department stores here has these big tall glass curio type cabinets for $200 bucks each. I'll be picking a couple of those up in the new year

Building Music

Rest assured...the Metallica/Lou Reed thing is by no means to be considered the new Metallica release. I along with the rest of their fans were freaking when they announced that one..but it's just a side project, a collaboration. Why they did it, we don't know..the reason they did S&M was because they could. They got to the point in their career where they could do anything they wanted.(not bad for a band that my friends told me sucked when i first played Ride The Lightning for them back in the 80's...look at'em now) I hated S&M when it first came out, but over the years it's grown on me..Lulu..will never see the inside of my CD player though. Wow..Death Angel is still around?? That brings me back!! *warm nostalgia feelings for the 80's* -

Wow..someone has never heard of Rush before? Mind boggling! They're the best thing to come out of Canada since...since.... anyway...Triumph is pretty good as well! -
I have tons of the huge Chilton hardcover manuals, Haynes, all of the books Donn recommends and more, about 50 various Muscle car hard covers,60+ gigs of ref pics and ebooks and manuals, as well as a few hundred magazines. I also have access to my uncles collection of Car Craft, Hot Rod and every other mag that has come out since he started repairing and building cars in 65. This is a monster of a collection!
