Fallen Hero coming home
seeker589 replied to crazyjim's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That is the epitome of irony. Sick, twisted irony. -
Wow! A thousand bucks!
seeker589 replied to Terry Sumner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Oddly enough - just last week I was thinking what kits I would buy if I had won the lottery. My response was ALL the Aurora drag car kits. ALL of them - regardless of cost. Then - to help all of us - I would then pay to have new tooling made and make the entire line to share with EVERYONE! I wonder what that would cost? -
Fallen Hero coming home
seeker589 replied to crazyjim's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
THAT is how fallen heros need to be sent to be with our Lord! My eyes are a bit sweaty. I hope and pray that your memorial service is peaceful with no protestors. Who knows what will happen now that the supreme court granted funeral protestors protection through freedom-of-speach. Our highest court has no common sense. God bless those in harms way. I also hope and pray we don't decide to enter Jordan or Egypt. -
Very clean! Almost surreal. Very clear photograph. Good subject matter. Homerun!!!

What is your dream model kit?
seeker589 replied to Jordan White's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would like the model companies to resume making annuals: From GM: Cadillac CTS-V, Excalade GMC: Yukon, Dually truck Chevrolet: Cruze, Pick-ups, Suburban including the Camaros and Vettes we already have. Chryslers: Charger and Challengers and current pick-ups. Ford: Focus, Fiesta, Mustangs, F-series trucks, etc. Update these regularly like they used to and include current trend aftermarket parts like they used to. Current and detailed kits of the Volkswagen family. A proportionate well done '85-92 Golf and/or Jetta kit with engine and trim options. Mk1 AND Mk2 Scirocco kit that won't cost an arm and a leg! Kits for current Acura and Honda products with engine and wheel options. A BMW or Cruze WTCC kit with full detail! Bring back PARTS-PACKS with up-to date speed parts! Like Autocross and Time Attack parts-Wheels/tires and wings and airdams- functional tuner parts. not just ricer parts. Mazda 3 or Mazda 2 kit. Saleen S7 or Factory Five GTM. What I really want is a well proportioned casting of a orange traffic cone - yea - the one used to usher traffic away from danger and used to mark Autocross courses. -
Am I the only one seeing a modeling project? How about an F1 car with a latter rack and cargo bed towing a trailer? Or a F150 lowered over a F1 chassis with a complex aero package with a F1 motor in the bed. That said... We have established that a Ford pick-up cannot do what an Ferrari F1 car can do and vice-versa. How observant we are! One thing I need to say is that a Ferrari is a frivilous item - I can't think of ONE Ferrari that does anything truely practical. OK - so a 355 might bring a doctor to a hospital to save peoples' lives - an 20 year old Escort can do that!. The Ferrari car company are passion merchants. They sell things to move people's emotions. Some would say that kind of frivilous passionate emotion is a luxury - no more. The Ford F150 and that family of products help us all on a almost daily basis. Small business owners, hobbiest, home builders, plumbers, lawn care professionals, snow removal operators, Thousands of Ford products, trucks or otherwise, carry people to and from work everyday. Nothing - NOTHING is more nobel than a machine that helps those who own it to keep the world working the way it needs to. That is far from frivilous. Ferrari - while a valid product that serves some purpose - is more than a little superfluous compared to the great, reliable working truck - regardless of where that truck was made or what the manufacture is. And it is copyrite infringement. Ford isn't just Ford - it is an international corporation that creates cars and trucks for the markets they manufacture in. Some say bow to the great Ferrari - I say bow to the work truck! All this from a Chevy fan and Acura driver!

free stuff from work
seeker589 replied to sobpinstriping's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I once worked for a fire truck company. I measured and cut aluminum valve covers for small and big block chevys. I also have tubing that I have moved to three different homes that I SWEAR I'm gonna use in some kind of hot rod project. I made off with paint - enough to paint graphics on one car and paint two other cars entirely. Another employer has donated superglue, sand paper, and small styrene panels (2x4 inches). -
I wonder when a smart zombie is gonna see that the tires are quite vulnerable?! With all the other shielding and defence mechanisms the tires look a bit exposed. Just thinkin'.

Synchronizing 2 motorcycle engines side by side
seeker589 replied to LDO's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yup - It can be done! What's the best thing - It doesn't HAVE to work - it just has to look like it works! You could make it powered by a dylithium reactor through a plasma power transfer transmission with a constantly variable coupler made of unobtainium. I love modeling! Yes you could mesh two motorcycle engines or any other engines for that matter. I used to hang with tractor pullers and had many conversations with a few of those with engines hooked crank-to-crank. Meshing the motors together isn't much of a problem - all you have tot do is clock the cranks so both number one cyls are firing at the same time - eveything else just works out. Coupling also helps eliminate some harmonics. Coupler strength is very important when the motors are making 500-1500HP. Ive seen things like modified flywheels and fabricated couplers. Many tracktor pullers are machinists and outstanding backyard fabricators. -
Just like the subject line says - Has anyone made a DeTomaso Longchamp in 1/25 scale - Plastic or Resin? Thanks!

Revell National contest
seeker589 replied to moparmagiclives's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm not much of a builder lately - but for some reason I don't like how it feels. I'm not too keen about the judgeing outline and I'm not understanding why they limited the kits available to enter. Revell/Monogram has a much more diverse product line. Gearz build a V8 Miata as a project car. The kit selection for entry should be more diverse - with less build limitations. Just my 2 cents. -
Children are God's blessings - no matter what difficulties come with parenthood. I have two - they are sometimes difficult - but I feel rich with blessing. My prayers are with you and your daughter.

When someone acts poorly in public repeatedly - they only make themselves look quite foolish. As far as entering a car multiple times in multiple years and expecting a different outcome is a very good illustration of insanity. So - your just dealing with an insane fool. God bless him!

I like it. The neglected steel are in great juxtaposition to the carefully built and finished wood body and the detailed motor. I wouldn't even call it a Rat-Rod The only thing ratty about it is the unfinished metal. The build shows great planning, proportions, and execution. To me RatRods don't exhibit that kind of execution. my two cents.

Another Hobby Shop Closing
seeker589 replied to Towmaster Dave's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was just thinking this week about all the hobby shops that have come and gone at a strip mall near my house in my lifetime. I thinking three - maybe four if you count the 5&10 store that had an extensive kit selection. Now there is a Michaels there and an ACMoore accross the parking lot. At least they publish coupons for 40-50% off weekly should I need another new kit to grock. -
What recession? Ferrari sales are soaring.
seeker589 replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I get ya. I wasn't trying to hyjack the thread just making some observations. I'm glad some businesses are doing well. We need to get more money floating around the world - It's the only way we're gonna get out of this recession. -

The previous posts that seem to be going away from the initial post are reflecting a rising frustration with the dissapearing middle class - or the growing earnings gap. The theory that only the rich benefit from all spending is not all together true. Wal-Mart seems to be a rallying point of those concerned with questionable business practices and labor practices. Those that hate the rich have to understand that they spend the most money. Those that took part in building the cars in subject (even if it is in Italy ) benefit from the money invested by the customer. Hundreds - possibly thousands of people benefit directly and indirectly. When they buy yachts - hundreds benefit. When they build homes, condos, larger office buildings, or even country clubs - thousands benefit. When Harley's are sold - I, and the thousands that work with me at the York PA plant, benefit . When the rich (or just those with means) buy a bike, I and thousands around me benefit from my spending. When the rich stop spending money - we are all in trouble. But when a larger percentage of the US populus(the poor) - thinks they have nothing to lose - the rich will be the target. And it ain't gonna be pretty. I could go on-and-on about governing theory and ruling class insanity - but I don't have the time and Greg doesn't have the bandwidth! I'm not hating - just observing. -
Have you seen eModel cars LATELY???
seeker589 replied to seeker589's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I do agree with the promoting hobby kits, parts and services on A message board. I think a dedicated section within this message board would be a great idea. The subject would need to reflect what is being sold and the body of the post/topic could display a products gallery and links to a catalog or business website. There would have to be a disclaimer - something about how "the businesses posting on this board aren't part of the business interest in Model Cars Magazine" - or some such thing. One thing that I just thought of - If businesses post on the suppliers section of the message board - why would they advertise in Model Cars Mag? Magazines need advertisers - or they die. I posted on eModel cars because Gregg has given us this forum and that auction venue. I wanted to help draw attention to his site. I also wanted to mention eModel cars on this site one more time! Thanks Gregg! -
I was thinking it was quite spindly looking for the weight of the body. I guess you could use tubing with a small outside diameter - but the wall thickness would be awfully thick and you would need to brace and triangulate everything (like a Bird-cage Maserati).

Original link fixed. Thanks Bill

I was wondering how to word that better. Yes, all the parts are in the kits just some are off the trees. -
I Love it! Very daring build - you pulled it off very well! I never liked the headlights on those - I never thought of removing them! I love the top chop! Where did those wheels come from?

THAT is the quality I aspire to. very nice detailing.
