Where ya goin' Hot foot?
seeker589 replied to RJWood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
136mph in a stock car at the Petty Experience at Disney World. About 130 in my 83 Z28 - in 3rd gear. 125 in my GLH turbo teaching a 5.0 about boost. About 98 in my bent-up, thrashed to heck - '68 Mustang. I actually thought i was gonna take-off! The Steering wheel got REALLY light. 115 in my '87 MR2. 95mph on my '07 H-D Electra-Glide. MAN was that thing slow! -
I found this fascenating! So I went searching and found this:

Model Night ended badly
seeker589 replied to Jon Cole's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Jon - My heart goes out to you. It will be a good time to sand and de-burr any kits you may have in the works. I busted my leg in three places while riding my bike on a quarter-pipe 30 days before I was to go into the AirForce. Three surgeries and over a year later - I went to basic with no pain. The pain will go away - just give it time. There is no shame in crawling or using a creeper or skateboard to get to the kitchen or bathroom. Avoiding pain and figuring out how to avoid pain should be your goal. It diverts your awareness of the pain while contributing to lessening your pain. My prayers go out to you for a full recovery. -
The freshness of new plastic.

I LOVE the feeling/smell of a new kit or even one that has been stored for years. What I love the most is exploring a kit that someone else started. I love looking for parts I can use on other kits and seeing how I can salvage others mistakes or intent for the kit initially. A few weeks ago I got a Stars and Stripes Greenwood kit from Ebay. The windshield frame was cut-off and it was painted green - badly. I automatically thought of a SCCA B-Prepared autocross car. As soon as I have a workbench - it is on my list of projects. -
Twin turbo'd Camaro kit.
seeker589 replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The turbo set-up is typical of some carbed mechanically tuned turbo systems from up until computer control made tuning less of a carp shoot. There are two types of systems - a blow through and a draw-through. What is in the kit is a blow-through - the air is blown-through the carb. The other set-up is a draw-through - the turbo draws the air-fuel mixture into the intake manifold. Both make power and both work well with smaller turbos and the 70s and 80s low compression stock motors. Yea - the kit stinks. But it started to learn about turbos when I opened that kit. -
I love it! Let's hit the road! If only we were 1/25 the size we are now.

You engineered the quirky Mustang suspension geometry quite well. I'd kind of like to see that, too! Do you Autocross or do track events?
-
Whale pretty much described it right - lift or jounce and axle wrap dynamics. The geometry of the suspension arm is also to help with the 'snap' effect of the slicks - how they wind-up and launch. Watch a well tuned Pro-Stock car launch. They don't squat - they raise. Physics and geometry in racing is fascinating until you get to the math - ick. Bradley - That is one very nice model for a military dorm! I'm gonna have to stop making excuses for living in too-small of a house with no work bench!

Don Prudhomme Black Cuda "Hotwheels" F/C
seeker589 replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
From what I understand the Black car is bare fiberglass gel-coat. The body arrived to close to the next event and they had mount it on the chassis and slap some stickers on it. I think it is one of the best looking Funnies of that era - nice and simple. John - you did a great job on this one! -

The stance is PERFECT! Very nice looking model! -
How about "Lemon Fizz"? Nice lookin' model! The tank on the bike should look like a lemon. Thanks for sharing.
-
You like Cheetahs - don't you? Very nice collection of slot-cars.
-
Both my son and I said -"Oh my gawd!" Does it come with little laptops and a crew of miniature technicians to get it started? That is one beautiful scale replica!
-
Outstanding and very realistic build. The wheels can make or break a car - yours definitely MAKE the car. And it has one of MY favorite drivers on it's roof. Max Papis - a very underrated driver - way TOO underrated. I know he isn't the Canadian you were referring to.

Man! That is just too cool! Thanks for sharing. The Gif is bitchin'. -
Very nice build! I love this kit. I am building my second one now. It almost falls together. I just wish the engine compartment detail consisted of a separate battery and didn't have as many engraved parts. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing that photo set-up! Very do-able! The Porsche looks great, also.

T.V. TOMMY IVO TRUCK,TRILER,AND 'WAGON MASTER"
seeker589 replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Exactly what jumped out for me, too! Brilliant minds think alike! John - What really grabs me about your builds are how "in-scale" they are. Nothing appearing too big or too small. You have quite the eye! Thank You for sharing all of your builds. -
Breathtaking! The detail and the cleanliness of the execution is brilliant. So many models look crowded when so much detail is added - You have kept the feeling of the model very light. I really love it when each sub-assembly is viewed as its own little masterpiece. Thank You for sharing!
-
Actually it is a Pontiac headed - Chevy block. Truthfully - There isn't a stock Chevy or Pontiac part in those ProMod motors - it is all aftermarket! So come on - It is getting to the point where a motor is a motor. Its not what you use - its how you use it.
-
Heck NO!! I say Mazda quad rotary Wankel with twin turbos! Can anyone say Zingin' the RPMs? Or you could go the other route - 392 Hemi with a front mounted blower - like my avatar.

Be Bee and Mulligan 1/16 Dragster
seeker589 replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Suspended disbelief! If you wouldn't have explained it was a model to someone outside the modeling community - It could truly pass as the original. Brilliant work - pat your back on this one! -
Outstanding! You sure are doing that bombed car justice! What a wonderful piece of art those cars were! So simple and purposeful. The world needs another unlimited road-race class!
-
Who owned/raced that car? It's been a while since I've seen the movie - but I must have watched it a gazillion times! I remember Packard Vette. I remember now - It had been owned by the guy that got murdered and then played by Charley Sheen. Right? Nice looking build - I'm looking forward to seeing how it progresses.
