What Do You Want To See Next?

Cool project. I have wanted to see one of these go together. Nice work so far.

Excellent work. Beautiful model.

That is a nice, cleanly built, well detailed model. Great work.

This one of those kits that I always wanted but not enough to pay big money for...but, excessive eBay trolling paid off... A very nice box and it's all there!

So the new Revell 1962 Corvette kit has these, what I think, cool wheels. However, the brake detail is very poor - there are no calipers on the discs! So after going through about ten boxes and drilling out some (and subsequently destroying), I remembered these wheels sets from Fujimi have brakes: I haven't seen all the sets that are in these series, but the few I have have the same "generic" Brembo disc brakes. And lo and behold, the brakes basically slide right onto the kit wheel stub! A little clean up - and it's not perfect (no caliper detail on the back of the disc) - but it is easy!!

I haven't seen one quite like that before. Interesting take on the Woody part - I like it.

130 + 40 is 170 for Martin. 110 + 40 is 150 for Patrick. The advantage is due to the fact Danica is so far below the lowest "adjustment" weight of 150. So Martin's weight gets him closer to other drivers with the additional weight added, whereas Danica's doesn't get her "adjusted" as close. Minimal difference, really. Maybe her gas mileage is better?

Stripped Chrome, Changed Mind
Erik Smith replied to kalbert's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Alclad or SpazStix (I have never tried Kosmic Krome!) or send it out for replating. None of the "chrome" paints available from big box stores will replicate chrome - just silverish paint. BMF may work, but it will more than likley tear and fold on complex curves. -
'68s are so cool - that transition period towards the rather gawdy 70s. Cool mods so far!

I know for certain that Duplicolor Clear will bring that orange plastic to the surface through layers of Duplicolor sealer, primer, and paint. The paint had no issues with bleed, but as soon as I hit it with the clear, the orange bled. Be sure to check the grill and the windshield before you paint - I have built two of the T-Bolt kits and had issues with the grill on both (the body contour doesnt match the grill profile) and the windshield across the top doesn't want to set high enough to hide the curved portion. Oh, and the windshield wipers don't conform to the windshield very well - I replaced them on my second build with a PE set.

Here is the Revell Germany 1/35 "Admiral" - Hobbytown USA price? $28.99. That's not bad for a 199 piece kit. These kits are quite complicated. Not only are the bodies multi piece, but many assemblies are more involved than "normal" car kits - the frame needs to be out together: The door handles and wipers and many very small parts are molded separately.

Which kit has the best HEMI?
Erik Smith replied to MAGNUM4342's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This is an interesting question. Doing some searching, I found this: http://www.hotrodlane.cc/PDFFILES/hemicarmeasurements.pdf Also, I found the measurements for a custom oil pan for the 6.1 - it is 24" long. I don't have a Revell kit to see which is closer to that. -
Nice model! You did a great job replicating the box art - cool idea.

Are there still zombies on the walking dead? I like the wagon body - let's see where it goes...
-
Nice! I have the 1/35 Opel - now, I guess the big brother is needed. The multi-piece bodies will be a turn off to some, but these are well detailed, neat kits. Thanks for the info!

That's cool. I haven't seen that 1/16 kit before. Is it a curbside?

Nightmare Kits CBP - aka Masochistic Modelers Anonymous
Erik Smith replied to Jantrix's topic in Community Builds
Noted - however, this is becoming more o a whimsical/not practical build - and I am spending too much time on a crappy old model! I am to the point of "just getting it done", so... Paint and decals -
