  1. Man, this engine is almost too nice...goes together nicely - making some spark plug boot things... A question about the blower - I am clueless on these set ups - there are three pulleys on the belt. What does the middle pulley attach to on a real car? It just is there on the kit and its tough to find reference shots showing behind the pulleys.
  2. What? My next idea was threads on the lug bolts... It really is looking good, though.
  3. Great work so far...now, you just need to add wheel weights to the rim! I just use a small piece of wire smashed in flat nose pliers and a small silver stripe across the rim...
  4. It will be interesting to see if the Rat Roaster has the same staying power as the 50 Olds and the 57 Ford - both kits will see modified reissues and straight reissues for years to come. The Rat Roaster will be a big seller now, but interesting to see... It would be interesting (to me, anyhow) to compare sales numbers for all these kits based on source - for instance brick and mortar versus online (and break that out to eBay too) - to get an idea of where and who (demographics) buys. I am afraid the origin of this post has been lost (it started with R2 and now is all about Revell...), but I find most of the conversation interesting.
  5. If you go to the store for one thing, don't look at anything else, or you will have two things... Now if I could just find a SBC to drop in the landcruiser...
  6. My guess is AMT will capitalize on the Hardtop, decal sheet, and tires. Round2 has made some of these older kits more desireable by including some nice accessories.
  7. Welcome. Cool models, great photos, and nice SEAT.
  8. I sent them an email asking about the possibility of doing such a thing (listing what might be available) - the marketing director was very prompt to reply but didn't really address the idea. She said the FB was a "dream model" type of post. They use the usual marketing - research, polls, and focus groups. I would assume there is some kind of secrecy in saying "here is all we have" in terms of competition, etc., so we probably won't know all the potential kits that could be reissued from the AMT/MPC vaults. I hope that Pinto mold is there...
  9. That is a great model. The wheels and tires add a lot to the overall look. Excellent work all the way around.
  10. Looks cool. Nice work. I like the kit - ya, it's not space age, but it's still fun and builds into a nice model.
  11. Separate oil pan - easier to paint and modify. It's also nicer when the sprue attachment points are on top, since you never see that on the built model. Still, very cool parts. Weird about the amount of flash on the transmission - looks like an MPC kit I am going to buy this kit. Probably three.
  12. Exactly what I did. So far on the Arii Porsche, I have 3 parts left from the original kit. It's amazing. Get rid of most of a crummy kit and it's not so bad.
  13. Saw that Hotel Taxi - that's one I hadn't seen before. They are neat subjects and it would be fun to do a stock one and a hot rod one.
  14. Great model. I like the non-kit modifications to the interior. Wheels look good on there too. Great work.
  15. R2 - please provide us with a guide map. Let us know what molds you have or potentially have access to - then let us then rate them. A poll on the website would work perfectly, similar to the one you had with the decals, extra parts, etc. I will send this to R2 - they are fairly responsive to emails and contacts. Hopefully something like this will work.
  16. I think that original Tamiya Mini is actually a little small for 1/24 scale, if I remember discussions about it. ROG is releasing another kit right now - supposed to be around real soon. Since you posted your Countryman, I have been seeing that same color all over! That PE set looks really neat, too.
  17. I am - not that kind though (I'm on the wildland side). I work with a lot of structure guys - around here it's a good job once you get in - you just have to put some time in volunteering. Not a bad thing, though, as it gives you great opportunity to learn the skills of the job and network with potential employers.
  18. A horse walks into a bar. Bartender says "why the long face?"
  19. Frame is coming along. The Willys kits is really an Awsome kit - love that Hemi. Ill have to pick another one up to replace this. Hemi fills up the front end of the Porsche pretty well
  20. The problem with asking individuals what kits they want is everybody has their own pet projects. People want to build the <insert year> <insert obscure, off brand car here> that few others would care to have. When you solicit ideas with no constraints you will inevitably end up with a huge list of wildly different ideas and subjects. In short, it's useless. Most people don't look at the situation beyond themselves - "I would love a model of..." - and NOT "here's model will the MOST people want and has multiple building options and opportunities for additional kits. Just about every thread ever started on this subject gets as many requests as there are posts. That being said, I will go on their FB site and request something with four doors and a wagon of some sort as well as a mid-seventies economy car that wasn't even popular when new.
  21. Wow, beautiful. The real cars probably never looked that good. Fantastic work.
  22. Totally legit! I love those 60s era politically questionable (to some) boxes. Round2 could do some fun ones now with the Ayatollah or something. There were a few dealing with the communist regime in Cuba. They also had the Mexico rally boxes with phrases such as "what, me hurry?" On the decal sheet - what? People in Mexico are laid back?...
