  1. I just started using Papilio decal paper after a recommendation from CadillacPat. You can get a sampler kit on Amazon for around $20 (IIRC). It comes with clear and white decal sheets as well as sealer and application stuff. I have also used the BMF decal material and it works pretty well - I did have problems with small decals not settling on the edges. I made some decals for the interior of a model and it lays down nice and easy without edge curl. Check the diecast section on this forum to see some of Pat's work - outstanding.
  2. Very, very nice. I really like this model. The construction is clean. The mods are subtle enough to be missed - but still make a big difference. The wheels are really well done - they look like real wheels. The stance is cool. Everything is cool and well built. Excellent. Lets see, any more adjectives in my vocab... I also like the WIP thread - I think you mentioned "a quick build" or something
  3. Welcome. I am impressed how international this site is becoming. Adds a lot to the variety of builds and skills demonstrated.
  4. Great models! I really like the Aston DBS. That B-26 diorama is really cool too - the perspective with the small ships, I have never seen that.
  5. Depends on how much money you have. It probably seems insane to a Haitian person when I spend $12 on a kit with a 40% off coupon at Hobby Lobby. To me, $50 for an old, out of production kit is not out of reach or any more unreasonable than that $12 kit. I don't have a huge stash or a lot of old kits - but the old kits I have purchased, I purchased with building in mind. It just makes the unbuilt one more collectible
  6. Great work. Very attractive, cleanly built model.
  7. Probably the best way to get a good deal - I love it when they fall apart like that. Do you make your own decals at all? I have made a few fabric decals - it's pretty easy of you can find (or make) a good picture of the texture. Mine is molded in red - wish I had a light blue version
  8. Must be nice having those miniature men doing that work for you Nick. I have to do all of my own.
  9. Heehee. My human monsters are a bit beyond that mischief. I only have to worry about this guy now:
  10. Tragic story. Sorry. Beautiful models - a great tribute.
  11. Very cool. Great model. Clean construction.
  12. Cool - thanks for taking time and photographing and posting. I enjoy seeing the process.
  13. Welcome to the forum James.
  14. AMT is a curbside - unless the OP is kit bashing the two. I can't decide if I like the new camaro. I do like what you have done so far. Nice work on the metallic finishes.
  15. That's a cool app! I actually hadn't even thought about looking for modeling apps.
  16. Great looking model. Nice work.
  17. Very nice! Great paint - choice and application. I like he subtleness of the modifications. Very good model.
  18. That's looking really good Doug. Engine is a great piece - lots of work and it shows.
  19. I am going to try to attend one Portland show this year - hopefully NW Model Car Fest in March. BTW I posted a link in the "Contests and Shows" section for the upcoming season. Portland is a great dog city too - if you like dogs.
  20. Lots of work and well worth it. Very cool model.
  21. Love the Candy Red T! They are all great models.
  22. I don't even think Oregon is close the worst economy - I believe Mississippi has that dubious distinction. Portland is a nice place - no too far to sunshine and to the ocean - you just can't get them both in the same place! They also have a great health and research university - OHSU. There are far many worse places...
  23. That, sir, is looking fantastic.
  24. Great model. Nice work on the light weathering effects. It takes me 10 hours to primer something.
