  1. Okay, so I have been looking along with your build and enjoying it. Today, at our model club meeting, a member brought a friend. That's not all that exciting. Until I find out the friend OWNS the George Barris car from the TV show! Yes, the real deal from the show. I showed him his thread and he thought it looked great - especially the brass. He said I could use the car for reference if anybody ever wanted to build the TV car (which is a replica Stutz with a more modern power plant, etc).
  2. I like it. Not too ratty - great.
  3. Welcome. Cool diorama and hot rods. Thanks for joining and the introduction.
  4. Really nice. Cool and unusual model - I appreciate the post.
  5. 1964 Ford Fairlane
  6. Cool build going. I just grabbed two of these. Most of the kit looks really great. One thing I did not like was the windshield sprue was bent in the box causing some damage to the lower "glass". I also would like to see how the windshield fits in - it kind of looks like the top and sides install from the back but the bottom of the windshield kind of slides over the window trim or something...I'll follow along to see how this build goes and check my copy as well. As a side note - the shop I purchased mine from went to restock/order the two kits I bought and his supplier is already out of stock - and he is a "preferred" shop.
  7. Looking at pics of the real deal, it appears the "art" is more deceptive than the actual car. Looks quite doable, minus the inherent problems with the Coronet kit. Oh, and the real car had a 5.7 Hemi, I think. Why does the box depict a super low, chopped top car? Are those Foose drawings or something Revell made up? These kits appear to be mainly a draw for new builders as most seasoned folks aren't too impressed with he marketing (hence a long diatribe about the firebird).
  8. I get to travel around the US and see all the beautiful places. Oh, most of the time they are on fire when I get there and I have to spend some time trying to stop the fire. I work for the Bureau of Land Management now - I have done this for 17 years and worked for, in addition to the BLM, the US Forest Service and the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
  9. Stock drive train and optional period (50s, 60s) correct speed parts included. Four door would be cool too.
  10. That turned out excellent. Great build.
  11. Beautiful, clean build. Excellent job.
  12. Excellent work. I like the look.
  13. Nice build. Very clean and well built. Great looking paint job.
  14. Beautiful. Do you have a shot with all the panels closed?
  15. Great kit of a great car. Nice job on the build - I like the choice of color, although I am not sure about the gold engine bay.
  16. I agree with Harry. eBay is not perfect, but it the closest thing we have. They are, by the fact they are a publicly traded company, required to maximize profits. If something in their fee schedule hurts that profit margin, it will be changed. As long as they are making money and increasing the value of the stock, they are doing EXACTLY what any business is trying to do. Try to sell your models on emodelcars or another site and see if the difference in fees offsets the difference in final selling price. Emodelcars is a good idea - unfortunately, not good enough to sustain itself. Would I buy and sell there? I would, if there was anything to buy or anybody to sell to.
  17. A Facel Vega? Awesome. The fastest car of its time! French design, Hemi powered - no way to lose. Unless you drive it into a tree. Curbside? Chassis? Tell us more...
  18. I like artwork on the box. I also like R2's idea of sprue outlines on the bottom. In this day and age, it is very easy to do a quick search and see what a kit is all about. Back in the seventies it was near impossible unless you knew somebody who already built the kit.
  19. You can get your custom decals made. It is expensive and there are minimums (250 sheets or so from the companies I've contacted). These are not Alps or Inkjet printed - I am talking full on silk screened type.
  20. Beautiful paint. Great looking build.
  21. Nice. Clean. That would be a police magnet I'm afraid. Excellent job.
  22. Nice demo car. One of the better I've seen. Great work.
  23. Wild idea and great job on all the work.
