  1. Super Tire Thread - Good tires and Where to Find Them. I get frustrated by the lack of accurate and/or attractive tires supplied with kits. I am not overjoyed to do so, but I will buy kits just for the tires. So, this leads me to my thread... I would like to get a thread going showing kits (and the tires) with what you consider are the best tires available. This can include factory stock, custom, pro-touring - whatever you fancy. **Please** - DO NOT POST WITHOUT PHOTOS OF THE TIRES AND THE KIT INFORMATION. I would like to keep the thread relatively concise and provide pictures and sources. Let's keep personal communications to PMs to limit the amount of gleaning required to obtain information.
  2. True that Steve - my error on the Gremlin kit - I guess I could have lumped some AMT annuals into my digression. But... ...look at the picture posted. It clearly shows not only that the bracing is in place (which needs to be removed) but ALSO the cowl is bent on the driver's side. Oh, my error again. I see my ways...wrong kit for comparison - that kit doesn't have the cowl molded in. So...hehe...I thought bottom shots were the Caprice. BTW, I looked in on one of the Caprices I have: This is what I thought I saw above - a bent cowling preventing the hood from sitting level. Now, my point? These kits (70s annuals..) are not perfect - expect some additional work.
  3. It's an MPC kit, so there are always (well, it seems like always) some small fit issue. These kits have been around the block, and in MPC's heyday, they were molded and modified and molded hundreds of thousands of times. As a result, things don't always line up and small fit issues arise - sometimes the small issues make rather large problems. I am currently building MPC's Gremlin and it is riddled with minor fit issues - mainly because, like so many MPC kits - it was modified yearly to make the new annual kit. You will need to heat and massage that plastic to get the cowl down where it is supposed to be - do it now before you get paint on it or some assembly done. I also have the Caprice kit and mine has some minor body "bends", but I pretty much go into an MPC kit figuring things will be a bit of a challenge. When I was a kid and bought an MPC kit, it usually took about two hours before frustration set in and I destroyed the kit and moved on. Now I kind of enjoy the pain, um..challenge.
  4. That is a classy design and a very cool car. Nice work on the "remodel", too. Were the caps molded onto the kit's wheels?
  5. I haven't seen any online sellers stocking this kit yet... Looking at the box art, I am looking forward to this kit more than the other recent releases. I see a nice set of steel wheels (are the drag steels deeper than the stock wheels? That would be a bonus), M&H slicks (Decal?), cool set of optional decals, and a lot of possibilities. I don't usually say "I'll buy a case", because I won't, but I will buy three to four of these.
  6. Mr. Clyde Shafer II - any pictures of the the rest of the car? Engine? Interior shots (sometimes it's hard to find a nice, straight on dash photo online)? I really like the look of your Dart.
  7. Very, very nice paint. Great looking build.
  8. I saw one similar design: Drink coffee. You can sleep when your dead.
  9. Super 8 - the main character is a model builder.
  10. Received my wagon today. Got a 69 donor on the way. Very nice looking resin body!
  11. That's where the '63 Tempest ended up - AWB. The '63 Nova wagon was modified too, no? Bossa Nova? It's curious what happened to molds that were not modified, though, and have never seen reissues. '62 Tempests, '62 Galaxies, '62 and '63 Fairlanes?
  12. Ryan - is the Treasure Chest still open and selling models? They used to be a great place to get kits - and it seemed I was the only one buying them! Never heard of a club when I was in Missoula - Spokane has a club, but 200 miles in the winter is quite a commitment.
  13. Very clean. Beautiful color and application. Great build!
  14. For most instances, individually.
  15. Are you going to pin the PE lettering on Marcos? I just noticed the holes on the nose of the 'Vette.
  16. http://www.spruebrothers.com/ Look here, but many online shops carry Mig products - which are hugely popular in military modeling.
  17. What kit? Sounds like maybe some ghosting? I use Duplicolor primers and some plastics - newer Revell kits in particular - seem to ghost worse than others. I also think the sealer is a little "hotter" than the primer and may cause more issues - that is an unscientific guess, though, just basing it on a couple occurrences.
  18. Who could let this pass? It's always - no apostrophe needed unless you are abbreviating or showing ownership Welcome to the spelling and grammar/model car forum! There are some pretty talented young builders here - myself not included.
  19. That turned out cool. The stripe ending short distracts a little but I like the roof and rear section.
  20. Interesting and cool. What do you do with the holes in he rear wheel wells. I would like to pick one of these up and do a phantom replica stock style build. Heading to the site now...
  21. Working on the interior - straight from the box except the new floor shifter. That is Tamiya racing green on the dash - a lot brighter than I imagined but will still be cool. I got frustrated working around all the framework, so I cut most of it out and will ad cross members where I need them.
  22. Nice work. Clean build and beautiful concept.
