How on earth did the police get anything done with no laptop? Nice details on the interior. Cool kit and build.

Awesome. One of my favorite cars. I like the "weekend racer" look.

Scale Auto Enthusiat - enthusiast is now omitted. I don't find there is much to browse there that I can't get here - there are a lot of the same posts and/or similar content. This forum is less cluttered an works on my mobile device too. The SA forum (the previous incarnation) was too busy with way too many categories.

Some did. Some didn't. "COPO" was not a standard order and not all were base models - and not all COPOs were manuals. If you are not building one specific COPO, it would be up to the builder whether or not to install the console. Nice work so far - great looking grill.

Revell's 55 Chevy Pro Sportsman has a 618 BBC with cool Pontiac valve covers - I am using one on a 64 GTO project now. I like the look of the "Monkeemobile" you've got going. Cool work on the taillight panel especially.

1962 Impala build Updated 7-16-12 It's done !

Looking very cool. This is, IMHO, one of the best model kits ever. I like the green color and the engine detailing. Nice. -
Slixx has them - most are sized and meant for NASCAR. They have a "nostalgic" (or something like that) tire decal sheet that includes some GY, Firestone, and other markings. I have another sheet, I think is is Scale Motorsports???, and includes smaller than your normal NASCAR GY decals. I'll double check that source when I get home. There was a seller eBay that had some GY Poly Glas decals, but I haven't seen them in awhile.

I'd hoped to get more done before summer set in - that didn't happen. I will be MIA for most of the summer months but if I get a break late (late) summer or fall, I will put in some time.

About the upcoming convert. Hudson...
Erik Smith replied to Jon Cole's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The steel wheels are included - my post above was based on the kit I purchased, not the photos. Definitely a nice, welcome addition. -
Or the fact that many builders think they need huge stashes of kits and, therefore, can't afford to buy a case of $75 dollar kits. I look at military models all the time and have to say I am jealous of the amount of detail and the kits that the companies make. Anybody seen the new Fine Scale Modeler? Did you see that TWO kits are now available for the Oshkosh MRAP? See how many parts are jammed into a 1/35 scale kit? Remarkable. But, they cost enough to dissuade the average car modeler from purchasing multiple kits - which is the current business model for car kits.

Yes. Stock and steel wheels. -
That is really neat. The chrome treatment on the rear, the basket weave headliner, the seating arrangement and table - too cool. I like the art work too - delivery guy handing over a package to the ladies in the back seat and the Morris-esque/Arts and Crafts style advertisement on top.

Windshield wipers. Molded in, they look flat and make application of BMF difficult. Seperate wipers are too thick and some don't sit on the glass. I prefer PE wipers when possible. Tires. So much potential, so little execution. The same old tires in so many kits is annoying. Is it that tough to tool up a nice tire or two? And what's up with supplying tires that don't even fit the kit wheels? Mold lines on bumpers. I have resorted to stripping and BMF on my last few builds. Carbs, yes, to a point. I spend time searching for nice ones, detailing them, and them covering them with the filter. Also, they are not something that gets noticed much "on the table" at shows, etc.

I always enjoyed (well, still do) Terry's builds and articles from the 90s.

When to paint black window trim
Erik Smith replied to Haubenschild's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I haven't had to do it much, but I painted base and clear (laqcuer) and then masked and used Tamiya bottle paint with my airbrush. That way, I could easily wipe off any overspray or mistakes without damaging the laqcuer paint. -
Revell 2012 Fall New Releases Announced
Erik Smith replied to TurboKitty's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
ROG also did a Citroen 2CV last year - and there were two kits already (a very nice Tamiya kit and a Gunze kit), so maybe they (European, Japanese builders) wonder why Americans have so many Camaro kits. As far as I know, it's a completely new tool for the Mini, as was the 2CV. -

Impressive looking engine. It's too bad so much will be covered by the cowl. I am always amazed at the level of detail and the molding of military subjects - they have almost lured me into building them numerous times. -

Anybody know what year the Mini is? Answered my own question - 1964. Would have been cool to see an earlier version since we do have a very nice 1964 Tamiya kit available. -
I really like this build. It all works so well together and is built so clean. The roof rack is awesome. A very beautiful model.

prototype wheels

Frank - what site is that from? That looks pretty smooth compared to some rapid prototyping I have seen. I need an explanation with the wedding cake. -

This concept is very intriguing. I would love to see the results. -
1/25 to 1:1 conversion question
Erik Smith replied to noname's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Actually, your method calculates 1mm equals 1 inch. If 12mm equals 1/2 inch and 1/2 inch equals one foot, than 12mm equals 1 foot. Therefore, 1/12mm would equal 1 inch.
