  1. Not being alive in the 60s and not a huge TV fan, I've never heard of this show. The kit has all the "Hero" extras seen on the photo. The kits is supposedly a 66 Imperial but read somewhere it's actually AMT's 65 kit - I'm no expert though. I had never seen the kit before I saw it... You can build a truck version too - above is the extra interior with the truck bed.
  2. Cool topic Casey. I'll post a couple when I get a chance. I love seeing oddball stuff. I think Christian (Junkman) could really add some oddballs.
  3. Didn't Revell have one as well?? Or did it have a dune buggy on a trailer?? I remember buying and building it back in the 80s but can't recall if it was bikes or buggy.
  4. Kind of. By year and make to a certain extent. The rest are put where ever they fit based more on box size.
  5. I read "Fordlandia" last year and it was a great read about Ford's attempt at a utopian society in the Amazon - all for rubber.
  6. That turned out pretty nice. It is tight in that engine bay to add much detail - even spark plug wires. Nice job. Window trim is very tough to paint by hand. On those Tamiya kits, one thing I have found to make it easier is to tape over the trim, cut away the tape like BMF, remove the tape on the trim (instead of the body) and paint - by hand or spraying. There is a nice deep groove on the trim of the Mini kits that make it pretty easy, if what I said makes any sense. Or use thinned paint and flow it carefully into the groove. Let that dry them paint the main trim.
  7. I use pipettes. Google them online and buy them in bulk - they are considerably cheaper and you will get so many you won't feel bad every time you are too lazy to rinse it out.
  8. Easy Off will get rid of all chrome and related undercoats, usually in a short span of time.
  9. What type of tubing are you replicating? You can google scale calculators too - you enter in the size you need to replicate and the scale and it will give you the equivalent size. I would give you a link but I'm on my phone and don't know how.
  10. I agree. IIRC my version of the early AM release has tired that would be next to impossible to paint and have them look half decent.
  11. Thanks for the video Virgil. Interesting. I guess it's not a remolded product? Just the AM kit in a Revell box. Still, a good deal for those interested. Makes you wonder - how many kits did AM think they were gonna originally sell?
  12. Very nice looking build so far Mike. I like the green. I have a friend with a 68 Nova, and I think a 383 (car is currently in parts in his garage). I drove it once. It was scary. I wasn't really prepared for the pull and craziness of that. Relatively light car with tons of power. Can't imagine one with a race tuned 427. I think they, of any car, could earn the nickname "Lethal".
  13. Oh, that is beautiful. I too like small cars, but missed ever seeing these little Renaults running around the streets. I have this kit and can say you put a tremendous amount of work into it to make it look this good! Color choice and tire treatment are perfect.
  14. Cool old kit. Looks like a nice 50s couple to go for a ride are included!
  15. Some of the pretty decent MPC kits I have come across: All of the Pinto kits were pretty decent - they were nicer than the AMT counterpart And one kit I hated so much I tore the parts to pieces - I did keep the chopper, though: As with most kit makers, there are good and bad. They are definitely not ALL junk.
  16. Great looking build. I love the tough look of those 70s race cars. You did a great job on the weathering. Nice.
  17. Great looking truck. I know I parted one of these kits - ill have to dig and see if I can come up with the headlights.
  18. Nice looking build. The blue goes well with the gold spokes. Great looking paint job.
  19. Just came across this seller on eBay. Looks like they are flooding the market before the Revell kits hit the shelves? 10 kits for $80?? No decals, though. They also have them listed $10 each, $7 for shipping...hmmm... Disclaimer - I am in no way affiliated with this seller
  20. I think they are NIOSH approved. But, yes, duplicolor (and all paints) are dangerous. One exposure? Not so much. Repeated exposure? Yes. Brain damage, cancer - a list worse than those side effects listed for the drugs on TV. I don't paint with kids around. I have a booth that vents outside but I can still smell the paint, so it doesn't all go out. My neighbor is a car painter - talk to those guys and you will here plenty of cancer stories.
  21. I vote no glue bombs. I don't want to look at that and neither do the other readers. One kid might, the kid who built it, but I don't. I like to be inspired by other builders. I haven't picked up the contest issue yet, but I usually enjoy them. We will see if this one is the same.
  22. You can look HERE. It's tough to look at those swatches and get a perfect match, but in the ballpark. I don't know which paint colors would get you close, though, which I see was your question. Sorry.
  23. Hobby Search and Hobby Link both have online set ups. IIRC, you place your order and then they send a confirmation email. When they make sure they have the items, they send another email with information for paying. I used Paypal. Shipping will take a little time but nothing outrageous - two weeks or so.
  24. Lane, as stated above, your starter is upside down and 90 degrees from its real location - easy fix. It turns the flywheel which is located between the engine block and transmission.
  25. On eBay it only takes two bidders that really want a kit to drive up the price. Keep watching for others. I saw a 1/12 Camaro sell for up past $120 and that kit can be had for $50 to $70 regularly. One of the 1/12 Mustang just sold on the 22nd for $76.
