Another reason to like older cars!
disabled modeler replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a 84 Chevy 4x4 that still has its computer in it...but its not hooked up to anything now runs much better than with it...early systems were a joke anyway rarely worked right with any miles on them. Now the companies make horsepower with them instead of the engine making it all like they use to. yep its my daily driver. -
Welcome... Best advise anyone ever gave me is to treat every part as if it were a model itself and take your time.

Sorry to hear about your friend Frank....looks like nice projects. Thanks Mark. I don't know when I'll get to them but I hope to have a couple of them ready to display at the Goodguys Charlotte model show in October. Frank...its nice to see the older models and kits...reminds me of much younger better days...I am sure you will do them justice. I have some of my dads oldies to restore once I find the parts they need..he had some really cool nice stuff shame they cant or don't re-issue them again.

Motivation, wish I could find some.
disabled modeler replied to Petetrucker07's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Clayton....Carl is right and your not alone here...the tornado we had has had my time spent cleaning up and repairing things around here the best I can. Now that most of its done to a point I have the same issue you have...I have several started but just cant get motivated to finish any of them right now. Sometimes Ill find a AMT or Johan snap kit to break the building block or work on something out of my normal areas of interests...it will pass have faith. -
empty shelves, light inventory
disabled modeler replied to 62rebel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have tried G...he says they never know what they will get in and its up to corporate. Id order on line from those other places but its a funds issue for me...cost of the kit and shipping adds up fast and my budget is pretty poor to work with. -

Ours is painfully slow if they show up at all and most don't...with 40% off coupon I can afford to shop there if they ever get anything...been over 6 months since anything different has shown up here...you all are lucky to have a place where they do show up at. -
Degreasers as Strippers?
disabled modeler replied to fseva's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have had good luck with Super Clean straight not diluted on most paints others I use brake fluid if the other does not work....some I have stripped were painted 40 years or more years ago. Both seem to loose their strength over lots of time and cleanings and needs changed out with fresh stuff. -

Id just be happy once ours gets something in automotive...ours the shelves just shrink while the military,die-cast grows...??? If and when they do get anything different in its about a year behind. I am almost to the point where I think there is no reason to go look there now...there not going to have it thing. -
Welcome Brian... That is too long to go without plastic...LOL...

Gary... Very cool photos....

Charlie...man am I familiar with those leg cramps...I even bruise from them but mine is from nerve damage signals getting crossed or something like that...horrible. Hope you feel better.

Marshall,Kevin....Yep seems like my area got hit much harder than others did but the whole town has damaged trees in spots...just a block from my house there is a few houses and trees that seem to be untouched. Many trees will need to come down their roots are pulled up some and there leaning so there gone or will be. Our truck has 3,800.oo worth of damage to it from a tree and items that were blown around...one neighbors house will need at least 30,000.oo in repairs? My place is pretty much cleaned up other than for all the cut up trees and limbs,etc...now if the city will just get to us and pick it all up...??? There are many cars/trucks that got crushed here by trees...the junkyards will be happy at least.
