  1. I clearcoated the Impala this morning. A few more coats of clear and then on to polishing. More to come...
  2. The Story As McNally drives into Boston, he notices he is being followed by a silver Ford Taurus. He zips down a back street towards the warehouse district and the occupants in the Taurus start shooting at him in his 1997 Ford Exhibition and the right rear tire explodes and goes flat followed by the left rear tire. He stops and the back of the big SUV is starting to smoke and flame heavily as he gets out and runs to the side of the road under the cover of the smoking Exhibition. The men in the Taurus get out and continue shooting at the Exhibition and McNally returns fire from his hiding spot on the side of the rode, killing both shooters. McNally sits in the visitors chair in front of Lt. Det. Troy's desk at BPD Homicide later in the afternoon and finishes writing out a report on his "incident". Adam returns to his office and says, "You seem to be cleaning up the city of some of its criminals." McNally replies, "It's a dirty job, but somebody's gotta do it." They discuss the hitmen who were from New Jersey and so far they have no leads on who hired them. McNally will start looking for answers to who put the hit out on him and Adam Troy tells him to keep in touch. The Build I got the Challenger into primer. I painted most of the engine parts with Model Master Aluminium Plate Metalizer and sealled with a good coat of Alclad II Klear Kote. The body has been painted with Dupli-Color Forest Green Pearl. Engine assembly has begun. McNally will return...
  3. Thank you Tom and Carl!
  4. I got into a discussion about Ford Mustangs and was kind of "challenged" into building a "what-if" Mustang. This Mustang would have been the car driven by Boston private cop Spenser if the TV series, Spenser For Hire was on the air today. Since the cars used were well used local cars, I thought let's use something newer and I happen to have the model kit handy for this build. I started by blowing apart the Mustang and cleaned up the body. I searched through my extra decals and found some left over from previous Mustang builds. I decided on a color. Model Master Fathom Green Metallic. Yes, I know it's a GM color, but Ford never offered a dark green for the 2015 Mustang. I painted the wheels with Alclad II Chrome over the flat black plastic of the wheels and cleared with Alclad II Gloss Klear Kote. I got the body painted with Model Master Fathom Green Metallic. Spenser For Hire will return...
  5. I figured that the best way for me to paint the trim with gloss white paint was like a pin striper. I loaded up a small brush with paint and ran the brush along the trim molding and then wipe off the excess with a paper towel. This worked rather well and looks better than the kit decals. More to come...
  6. Thank you Dan! I foiled the Impala this afternoon while I watched the Daytona 500. More to come...
  7. Thank you Tyler!
  8. Thanks Christopher and Tony! Keys, keys...where are the keys? Tony, you got the keys? Tony? Tony!!!
  9. Thanks Ron!
  10. Well, all I can say is that there is a LOT of info out there and even us old guys can have a hard time seeing it all! Ron is correct! No argument over this! I use to be so good at spotting the small details on cars that would differentiate one model from the other. Now, not so much. It appears that there are quite a few models of the Challenger that all look alike with the exception of a small logo or two. I haven't had the time or the inclination lately to sort out all these differences myself. Being so tied up with day-to-day goings on, it just boggles the mind! I retired from working two days before Christmas and I'm still trying to get my head around that!!! With that being said, I'm going to forge ahead with my McNally Challenger and I hope it comes out the way I can see it in my mind.
  11. Well, Ma Mopar is mad at me! A Ford backed into me today when I was leaving City Hall. I hope that this isn't a sign of things to come! Other than touchups, painting the trans, and putting on the air cleaner, the 409 is done! More to come...
  12. Thank you Chris!
  13. I thought that Challenger looked like it was missing something! Now I remember...the vents on the sides of the scoop. Yep, it's a 392 Scatpak Challenger! Thank you Dan!
  14. And, once again I end up with old, outdated information. I stand corrected. Thank you Ron!
  15. OK. If anyone asks, there is an adapter for a spin on oil filter. If anyone asks... lol
  16. I guess I do get things done. I do have a couple of projects that have been stalled for whatever reason, but I will get back to them someday. I went looking for pictures of that Challenger especially since I don't watch NCIS-LA. The Challenger is an SRT8, but I don't think it's a Hellcat.
  17. Thanks for the nice words everyone! No, it's not hand painted. I tried to get a friend of mine who can do that type of detailing and he couldn't because of the slippery paint on the ball. He gave me a 4-speed decal and said "Good luck"! It took me almost ten minutes to get the decal positioned correctly after I had coated the ball with Solvaset. After a few more minutes, I put a dallop of Solvaset on the decal and a few minutes after that I pushed the decal on and squeezed out all the extra water and Solvaset. I must have lost 4 shift knob decals over the years and I have been able to save two...this week alone!
  18. Sorry about that Ron! wasn't my intention to get you to build the same model as I! lol You know what they say...great minds think alike! I'm sure your Challenger will look great!
  19. A new project and the return of McNally, Boston PI! The story is only to show what is driving this build of Revell's '09 Challenger SRT8. The people in this story are not related to anyone living or deceased. The Story Homeward Hit After a hectic weekend of chasing down a murder suspect, McNally, Boston PI relaxes at home watching the Red Sox take on the Yankees on TV. The doorbell rings and he makes his way to the front door to see his ex-girlfriend Tracy Balidon. It's been over a year since he last saw her and their greeting was short and sweet. Tracy is returning to Boston to restart her business when it showed that she wasn't going to make a profit in the Las Vegas' job market. They tell each other that they are not seeing anyone which gives them hope that they can restart a relationship together. Meanwhile, two men get off a plane that had landed at Logan Airport from New Jersey. They rent a car and drive to a secret location to receive money, guns, and instructions for a hit on a person of interest...McNally, Boston PI. The Build I am using the Revell '09 Challenger SRT8 Kit #85-4220 for this build. The body will be painted with Dupli-Color Forest Green Pearl and is not a stock color for this car. My influence for this color comes from the Mustangs used in the movie Bullitt and the TV show Spenser For Hire and the Mannix Dodge Darts and Plymouth 'Cudas. I'm hoping to use the optional tires from the Revell '65 Chevelle SS396 Z-16 kit instead of the truck-like tires in the Challenger SRT8 kit. McNally, Boston PI will return...
  20. Yeah, I found out from someone that the filter was suppose to be a black canister with the filter inside. Too late to change anything now as the filter has been repainted and the decal put on. Once the engine is mounted in the chassis, who's gonna know? Except me...and anyone else who reads this...LOL
  21. Thanks guys! Mike, the decal for the shifter ball was a bit of a challenge trying to keep the decal on the ball straight and not to lose it to the shop gremlins who like to steal things that go flying through the air or fall on the floor! David, I use embossing powder for carpet. Paint the floor pan with watered down glue, sprinkle the embossing powder on and let it dry. Paint it the color you want for the interior. Looks better than flocking and less messy with no fibers floating all over the place. Bill, the seat decals come in the kit. I used some setting solution to get the decals into the seat back bottoms. I found a goof in the instructions. It said to paint the oil filter #65 white and apply decal #26 to it. Decal # 26 is also white and it will not show. I removed the oil filter and painted it a dark blue which is cirrect for that era. I made a tachometer for the steering column out of bits and pieces here in the shop. More to come...
  22. Thank you Jim, Chris, and Clifton! I have finished my '65 Belvedere I and it is posted in Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who have taken the time to view and to comment on my WIP.
  23. This is my '65 Belvedere I painted with Tamiya TS-18 Metallic Red with a Model Master Insignia Red interior. Wheels and tires are from the kit and the engine is wired. The hood scoop is from the Revell '67 Charger.
  24. Been working on the interior today. This I'm proud of...this is the third shift knob decal that I have been able to install correctly without loosing one! More to come...
  25. The body has been repainted and set aside to gas out. Now I am working on the 409 CI engine and the interior. I'm using the chrome plated headers and I decided to try and "blue" the chrome with some Tamiya X-23 Clear Blue and X-26 Clear Orange. The dash, steering wheel, and side panels have been foiled. The floor has been coated with embossing powder and painted, then the seats were added. More to come...
