  1. Thank you Rusty! I'm hoping to finish the Belvedere today!
  2. I'm getting close to finishing the Belvedere! I started assembling the body to the chassis and found that the front sat way higher than I really wanted it to. I carefully pryed the spindles out and reversed them back to the stock position and now the stance is right where I want it. More Mopar to come...
  3. Thanks John! You have a good week, too! I went and bought a new cutting pad for the workbench and in the process, I spilled a small container of lacquer thinner on it and messed up the rear panel. That is now sitting in some oven cleaner and I'll repaint and re-clear the panel later.
  4. I said that as an analogy, not that it actually happened. Sorry Espo! It looked like a perfectly round circle that was actually in the paint and may have been caused by some sort of comtamination that was on the roof. I wetsanded the circle off with some 3200 sandpaper and then washed the body in prep for another coat of paint.
  5. Thank you Andre and JT!
  6. Thanks Bill and David! It is not a sink mark nor is it a dome light detail from the interior, but a contamination on the top of the roof. It seems like someone had placed a coffee cup on the roof and left a coffee ring when they removed the cup. I'll sand it down and repaint the roof
  7. Thank you guys! This Guards Red seems to really change hues with the light. In some instances, it looks like Gaugin Red (kind of pink-like, a '57 Chrysler color), to a bright fluorscent red. Interesting...
  8. Thanks everyone! I should take new and brighter lit pictures of this Mercedes. Even now they look a little dark.
  9. My bodywork woes continue! I thought I had gotten all the moldlines out, but the hot paint brought them back out again! I sanded them down again and then it'll be back into the paintbooth again. Curiously, this mark appeared on the roof. Not sure if you can see it, but it's not in the exact center and there is no interior detail or sink mark to cause this, so it must be some sort of contamination that was on the roof after I washed the body. I'll sand this out prior to repainting the body. More to come...
  10. Thanks Carl and John! I have always thought of the early Sixties Impala looking better in blue than any other color. I painted the wheels this morning with Dupli-Color T 155 Light Blue Metallic. I also painted the interior with the same paint since I want a matching interior. I added the valve covers and the intake manifold to the painted engine which is still tacky. I also added the wheels to the tires, but I may take them apart to clearcoat the wheels. More to come...
  11. Thank you Joe and Ron! I wasn't aware of the MCG Photoetch set until sometime well into December. I decided to forge ahead minus the photoetch since I had other things onmy mind at the time. Not sure if I'll use the decal scripts as I might try to drybrush the scripts instead. We shall see... Clearcoat! I used Testors Ultra Gloss Clear on the Belvedere this morning. Now to let it dry then some polishing later. Maybe tomorrow or later in the week. More Mopar to come...
  12. 1970 Ford Police Interceptor detective's car. NYPD Chevrolet Impala. Ok, so it's from a TV show...CSI Miami H2 Hummer. I added a red/blue mini light bar to the dash.
  13. I got the 409 painted with Model Master Chevrolet Engine Red. The intake manifold was painted with Model Master Aluminium Plate. I painted both exhaust systems since I'm thinking of part of each and making a full exhaust system with Cherry Bomb mufflers. More to come...
  14. Thanks David for the suggestion! I'll keep it in mind the next time I visit the LHS. If there is one thing I hate doing, it's adding a decal to the shift knob! Most of the time I end up losing the decal, but not this time! I coated the knob with Walthers Solvaset while the decal was soaking in water. Then I carefully placed and positioned the decal on the knob and waited for the Solvaset to do it job of softening the decal. After several minutes, I took a paper towel and pressed the decal onto the knob permanently. I decided to reface the tach and the auxillary gauges in the Belvedere. I painted the faces black, the needles Chrysler Engine Red, and then add a dollop of Tamiya X-11 Clear over the faces. I then added more clear over the rest of the dash gauges. More Mopar to come...
  15. Thank you David!
  16. Thanks Misha and Carl! Tonight, I started by looking for a set of larger rear tires for the Impala and I found a set in the parts box. I partially assembled the engine and drilled the heads for plug wires. Tomorrow, I'll paint the engine with Model Master Chevrolet Engine Red and the intake manifold Model Master Acryl Aluminium. More to come...
  17. Thanks Ron and Marty! Ron, I saw a 1:1 SLS AMG at an intersection once and when the light turned green, it made a very un-Mercedes type of exhaust note that left my mouth hanging open. It was glorious!
  18. Thank you guys!
  19. A coat of paint and everything is looking good. I foiled the body today. Now its back into the paintbooth for clearcoat. More Mopar to come...
  20. This is my 1955 Chrysler C300 painted with Model Master Guards Red with a Model Master Radome Tan interior and is built mostly box stock. The engine is wired.
  21. Thanks guys! Actually, the background is a flat white poster board. I need to play around with the camera settings again. The red overpowers the camera settings and turns the background into a yellow or the red turns into pink or orange, especially in sunlight. I changed the white balance setting and reshot the pictures. I should have used the flash as the pictures are a bit dark even with two 100 watt bulbs overhead.
  22. As much as I am a Mopar and a Ford fan, there's something about certain Chevys that I like. Certain Novas, Chevelles, Camaros, and Corvettes that appeal to me I want to build. This build should be fun!
  23. I have finished my Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and it is posted in Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who have viewed and commented on my WIP!
  24. This is my Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG by Revell of Germany. It is painted with Tamiya TS-85 Bright Mica Red with a Model Master Flat Interior Tan seats and instrument panel and build box stock.
  25. Thank you guys! I got this kit though the Classic Plastic Model Club raffle last year and I have be looking at it sitting in the stash since then. The fact that it has a bench seat and a manual floor shift is appealing to me right now. This has also got me into considering the AMT '61 Impala SS Bubbletop, but is it a Lindberg kit or an AMT kit? It does seem interesting that whenever I build an GM product, the build comes out better than my usual offerings. I have no pictures yet as I have just started on the little bodywork that is required to get this build into shape. I should have pictures later. Thanks!
