  1. The U.N.C.L.E. Car has been painted with Tamiya TS-58 Pearl Light Blue. While I was at it, I painted the seats with Tamiya TS-29 Semi-Gloss Black. The Man From U.N.C.L.E. will return...
  2. I went and clearcoated the GTX this afternoon and it went rather well until I got to the top of the roof and the trunk panel. Looks like my Tamiya TS-13 Gloss Clear was a little too hot for the MCW Enamel paint. Looks like I have some wet sanding to do later. More GTX to come...
  3. Thanks Bill and Jeremy!
  4. I finally finished foiling the GTX. I had to finish the foiling the drip rails and the side vent windows. After I had done that, I painted the interior roof with Tamiya XF-1 Flat Black.
  5. My third car that I owned was a 1970 Plymouth Duster 340. Manual everything with exhaust headers. Was a well-used money pit as I had replaced the clutch, starter, tires, regulators, trued the wheels, and repaired the taillights so they wouldn't leak. This car was a love-hate affair. I loved to hate it!
  6. I would like to suggest spending a little time reworking the rear valance and exhaust tips. I sanded the valance panel smooth, enlarged the openings and made new exhaust tips from aluminium tubing. You build is looking good!
  7. The least you can do is to clean it and slap it back together again. Since it is apart, you can repaint, repair and rebuild it better than before.
  8. Since you've got it apart, you might as well head for the kitchen sink and wash that old build with an old toothbrush and some dish washing detergent.
  9. Thanks Carl! Gotta get this one off the bench!
  10. There is a picture of Dex's Mustang and there is an air freshener hanging from the rear view mirror. I tried to recreate that type of air freshener by downloading an image of the air freshener and resizing the image size to fit the body. Then using a piece of silver plated string from a Christmas decoration, I looped it and glued it the the images I had printed out on my HP printer. Then I needed to paint the fog lights and I used my white Gelly Roll pen and rummage my parts box for lenses for the lights.
  11. Thanks Jeremy! I am a fan of the Man From U.N.C.L.E. I built an original issue of this kit when the show was about 3 years old. I have had this kit for several years sitting in the stash and I decided to build it. So far, it's coming along with some difficulties, but it is coming along.
  12. That Grand Prix looks amazing! Great job!
  13. I lined the trim with Tamiya XF-1 Flat Black paint this morning. Somehow, some small drips ended up on the roof and I'll try to remove them if I can. Next is painting the side glass for the rear windows.
  14. Looking good John! I like the work you are doing on the headlights.
  15. I keep putting off painting with finding things to work on instead. I did some detailing on the chrome tree with the missiles, wheels and instruments.
  16. I never got any of the so-called U.N.C.L.E. merchandise unless it was through the U.N.C.L.E. Fan Club called the U.N.C.L.E. Inner Circle. I still have the magazines some where, but nothing else. From what I have researched, the engine is not the same as the 1:1 car! No turbos (or whatever they were called), no propellers or drag chutes.
  17. Thanks Carl! Ken, this kit has been out since the late sixties. It has been reissued many times over the years and I built an original kit back around 1967. The car was built, but it wasn't used that often, probably due to problems with the car or because the script didn't call for it.
  18. The front suspension is complete. Some touchups and the disc brakes and it is ready for the chassis.
  19. Thanks Carl! I didn't bother looking in the the container where I put them to be de-chromed.
  20. Thanks Don! I had to let the glue dry and harden on the carbs/superchargers/turbochargers so they wouldn't move, but I don't know. They look like turbos, but they could be superchargers. All I know is that they are on!
  21. I have completed the engine...mostly. I just have to reposition the plug wires a bit. This engine has fought me for the last 24 hours and now it is done!
  22. Guess, what I have just found...my intake manifolds! I had clipped some parts from the chrome sprue and placed them in a container with Easy-Off Oven Cleaner. I have just washed them so now they can dry and be painted.
  23. I have read that this kit is somewhat difficult to assemble and I researched it until I was satisfied that I could assemble it properly. Over the years, this kit has been used for the drag race version and some parts may have gone missing as evidence by the missing intake manifolds. I'll make some intake manifolds. They may not be 100% accurate, but I will have some.
  24. I started assembling the Corvair motor for the U.N.C.L.E. car and everything went well until I went to install the intake manifolds. There are none! I guess I shall have to improvise and make some based on the drawings provided and some research on the internet. The doors have been taped to the roof and now I can mark my slots in the laser beam unit for the new hinges I will be making from 5/32 inch styrene tubing. The Man From U.N.C.L.E. will return...
  25. Thanks Carl!
