  1. I gave the Corvette a bath tonight with some Dawn Detergent and an old toothbrush. I got the engine repainted and wired, dash, steering wheel, exhaust tips and rocker panel trim detailed. More Stingray to come...
  2. I seem to recall a similiar setup used on a series called Chase (1973), another Stephen J. Cannell production. I have been picking away at some of the parts for this Corvette. I detailed the wheels some Aluminium Metalizer and a little black wash around the lug nuts. I removed the chrome from the front and rear bumpers, grille and the fog lights. The engine is in progress. I wasn't sure how the ignition wires were suppose to be lead out of the box shield, so I just routed them out from under and I'll route them to the cylinder heads. More Stingray to come...
  3. I believe it was since my friend had used the Penske 'Vette to build a stock '66 Vette. He won several awards with it.
  4. I believe there was four versions of this 'Vette. The Rat Trap, the Street Machine, the "Stingray" version, plus there is a stock version. I took this Corvette a bit further on deconstruction than I originally thought I would. The engine was deconstructed and now I have glued the halves back together and getting ready for paint. The interior was stripped of everything in prep for a bath! More Stingray to come...
  5. Thanks David! The colors on the "Stingray" Corvette was black. Just about everything was black.
  6. I have been in a retro mood for a while now. In my music, in the things I watch, in my writing, in my models. I have viewed a Youtube video of the opening theme from a show called Stingray (1985). It's about a man for hire who drives around town in a blacked out '65 Corvette helping people in return for favors. It was a series that lasted two years for 24 episodes on NBC and it was created and produced by the late Stephen J. Cannell. There was a model kit produced by Monogram in 1/24 scale and I had one, but I didn't build it like the TV car, but it is in need of a rebuild, covered in dirt and dust. Time to correct a few things...paint the model (it was never painted), find some fog lights for the front bumper, detail the wheels and tires, black out the grille and bumpers. Maybe I'll wire the engine, too. Let's see what I can do with this 'Vette. More Stingray to come...
  7. Thanks guys! Trying to determine how I want this to look. No top, hood, but no hood sides. Back wheels and tires sticking out of the fenders? Maybe shorten the rear axle to pull the wheels and tires in? I guess I'll have to wait and see on that!
  8. I figured that now is a good time to start this project for the upcoming Classic Plastic Model Club Exhibition Club Challenge in October. This is the AMT '32 Ford Phaeton and I will be building this straight out of the box in honor of the late Barry Fadden. I will be building this as a hot rod/street rod. My paints will be Testors One Coat Lacquer Mystic Emerald for the body and Tamiya TS-14 Gloss Black for the fenders. Barry had built a '27 Ford in a simular color combo and his model is the influence for this build. The instructions are calling for the same size tire all around and to me, it has to be big 'n littles. The engine will be a modern V8. Thank you AMT for including an engine stand in the kit! More Phaeton to come...
  9. My parents owned Buicks when I was a kid, so I have a soft spot for them. Looking good!
  10. Thanks Russell and David! This build is different for me. It has allowed my to reconnect with an old friend and to build this kit completely different from what Revell wanted it built as.
  11. I couldn't resist the urge to do a mockup of the Fairlane. This is looking really good! More Fairlane to come...
  12. Thank you David!
  13. Thank you Charlie, Jerry and Bruce!
  14. Thank you Carl and Jack!
  15. I had found some sanding marks in the plastic and in the process of polishing, I had polished almost through the paint. I masked off the trunk lid and added a couple coats of Model Master Wimbeldon White. More Fairlane to come...
  16. Thank you Christopher, Keith and Chris!
  17. Thanks guys! Having starting this build over 5 years ago, I knew I had to finishit . It came out just has I had hoped it would. Even the Buddy Seat was as I wanted it.
  18. I have finished my '68 Charger R/T and it is posted in Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who have viewed and commented on my WIP for the last 5 years.
  19. This is my Revell '68 Charger R/T painted with Tamiya TS-54 Light Metallic Blue with a matching interior, center cushion, column mounted tachometer and Hurst T handle on the 4-speed shift lever.
  20. Great build! Excellent paint and assembly, too!
  21. Thanks Scott! I fired up the paintbooth and primered and painted the Fairlane this afternoon. The color is Model Master Wimbeldon White. More Fairlane to come...
  22. Thanks David! I've been thinking about how I want the exhaust and the engine mounted in the chassis. Been working on that on and off this afternoon.
  23. The interior has been assembled. I glued the wheels and tires on so the Fairlane wouldn't roll and I made a pair of shock absorbers for the rear suspension with some 1/8th inch tube and 1/16th inch rod and painted them gloss yellow. More Fairlane to come...
  24. I have finished the front grille and rear panel of the Fairlane. I am almost finished with the chassis. I need to make a set of shock absorbers since the set I found are way too long. More Fairlane to come...
