  1. Some pretty cool choppers coming out of Maryland! Beautiful work!
  2. Actually...you'll see it Saturday. I'm not spending the night at the firehall just so you can see it Sunday too.
  3. You'll see it Sunday Dan ( and Bill and Randy)...it was the last for '06...finished it up Sunday.
  4. That is one gorgeous bike Lyle!
  5. That's sharp! Very clean build Randy.
  6. Looking good! Glad to see ya back at it...now you gotta get it finished. Can't wait to see it done!
  7. Revell '56 Nomad, built right out of the box with plug wires added. Paint is Duplicolor Arctic White and Orange Mist. Thanks for looking and Happy New Year!
  8. Here's my only pickup (worth showing)>
  9. I don't know Bill...it could just be the pic, but it looks lighter than Turbine Bronze to my eye.
  10. There were a lot of great looking cars in the '50's...and that definitely AIN'T one one of them. I've heard of getting hit with the ugly stick, but that car fell out of the top of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. I'd rather be seen in it than an Aztec or Scion XB though...
  11. Nice job on the 'Stang Bill. NASCAR huh? What ya gonna do...give it a working t.v. telemetry system?
  12. I'm with Dan...when I see pics of the 1:1 I cringe...but I'm liking the way yours turned out Lyle. Very nice ( as always!). Still don't think I'm gonna build one, I'll stick to the actual early muscle.
  13. I played one high school baseball game against Cal Ripken Jr. He was a senior ( and already signed to minor league ball if I recall) and I was a sophmore. If I'd known he'd become a great Hall of Famer I would have gotten his autograph! I also know the famous Matt T. and quite a few other modelling celebrities...Lyle Willits, Bill Geary, Irv Arter, Dan Peterson...among others!
  14. Depends on what I'm doing...if it's something intricate and detailed I will listen to something a bit melodic...UFO, Peter Gabriel, CCR. For general building purposes I like Motorhead, Sabbath, old school Metallica. For stripping paint I will put on Slayer or Pantera, hold the body up in front of the speakers and just BLAST the paint off!
  15. Nothing wrong with doing non-automotive stuff Izzy. I am currently working on an armor project. Was in a slump, got a tank kit at an IPMS show and am having a lot of fun doing something different. A lot of different techniques involved....not having to polish out a paint job for one! Good luck with your chopper.
  16. WOW!! That is awesome Lyle! Can't wait to see this one in person!
  17. One of my favorites Irv! Love the tonneau cover!
  18. Never painted tires...I think I'd try mixing a touch of blue in with your black and then give them a rubbin' to give it just a hint of sheen on the sidewalls. If it don't work strip 'em and try something else.
  19. I think first and foremost...don't worry about embarrasing yourself. If you like what you build, that is all that really matters. For me, contests aren't about impressing people or expectations of winning trophies. I go to meet people, look at other peoples models, possibly pick up a tip or two and deals from vendors. Where I am located I don't have to worry about winning trophies anyway because of the quality of work I'm up against (Bill Geary, Lyle Willits, Irv Arter, Jeff Sauber, Cruz ...etc etc). My advice...go, have a great time, talk to as many people as you can and don't get hung up on whether or not your model is contest worthy. If you pay the entry fee then it automatically is "contest worthy". Good luck!
  20. I would suggest either DupliColor automotive touch up paint or Tamiya spray cans over a white primer. I just sprayed a Nomad with Duplicolor Artic White which is more pf an off white color and I think it looks pretty decent.
  21. I think you'll find quite a variety of stuff here...maybe mostly muscle cars and street rods, but you also have folks who build trucks, bikes, tuners, exotic race cars, drag racers, NA$CAR...I usually look at it all...if it isn't something I'd build myself I can still appreciate the work that goes into it. Oh and by the way...WELCOME!
  22. Love 'em all!
  23. That's amazing!
  24. Cool stuff! I like the '32 and the Duster beater. And while I probably wouldn't ever build an off road vehicle your work is very impressive!
  25. My guess would be 6 feet of duct won't hurt the efficiency of the vent. You mentioned this is in your basement. If you have a gas or oil fired water heater and or furnace in the basement make sure you have a source of fresh air entering the basement. A window on the other side of the room would be sufficient. If the room is sealed well enough you could actually draw carbon monoxide OUT of your water heater or furnace. Opening a window will counter any vaccuum effect.
