  1. I'll swipe some pics from various Fotki albums (and give the proper photo credits) of some of Mike hemps stuff. His builds are always very clean! Will post later.

That car is TOUGH! What paint did you use? Can't wait to see it in person!
  3. You picked that up at the last CPMCC meeting didn't you? I remember seeing it thinking you were going to spend months cleaning it up, putting on the typical Arter glass-smooth paint job, maybe some pegasus wheels...I think I like the beater look better. Awesome car! Very cool stuff!
  4. I had the very good fortune of seeing this beauty at Mid Atlantic NNL...very sharp! Definitely a show stopper!
  5. Nothing like a shiny red hot rod! Great job as always Matt!
  6. I'm not a custom guy, mainly because I don't think I have the imagination to do something like that but I certainly can appreciate the amount of work that goes into something like this! That is WILD!
  7. MicroMark has polishing pads...two inch square pads with grit on both sides...for about $7 a set. I love 'em. They come in grits starting at 2400 and go up to 12000. Use them wet, with a bit of dish soap and they will last a good long time. On large flat areas like hoods and roofs I will rub lengthwise with the first grit, then go across the other way with the next grit. You only want to go as far as getting the sanding marks off from the previous grit. Then I usually go over it with Meguiars Showcar Glaze in the tan bottle. It has no silicates in it so if you burn through the paint you can touch up over it. As with an aspect of modelling...practice practice practice. As far as Tamiya sprays go...I have used Duplicolor clear over Tamiya but the same rules apply as if you were using Tamiya clear. Within a few minutes of the last color coat or you wait a month. That is the reason I don't use Tamiya sprays that much. They spray beautifully but having to wait a month for it to gas out ain't my thing.
  8. That's sharp! I'm working on one of those myself...hope it comes out half as nice as yours!
  9. Nice job...well worth the wait .
  10. I haven't built either of the Mustangs...Revell or AMT. In general I prefer Revell though. The AMT '71 Charger and the '58 Impala are nice kits that I enjoyed building but that's about as far as I'll go with nice things to say about AMT. They're o.k. I guess...once you get past the crappy soft plastic, the poor fit and the extensive amount of clean up. Give me a Revell muscle car kit any day!
  11. That is an awesome truck! Nice photography as well!
  12. Nice job on something you don't see built everyday! Can't wait to see it up close!
  13. She's a beauty Bill! Can't wait to see it in person!
  14. I'm still trying to focus my eyes on the posters on the wall behind the bike! Seriously though...cool chopper.
  15. Not entirely sure about this, but I think a hawser is the rope between two ships or between the ship and the dock? Basically a big rope. Maybe?
  16. It really depends on what paint you are using. Castrol Super Clean will take off most paints...some in a matter of hours, some in a couple days. Some people use 91% alcohol. Some use oven cleaner. I've only ever used Castrol Super Clean. Submerge the body in a SEALABLE container. CSC seems to lose its kick if exposed to air. WEAR GLOVES AND EYE PROTECTION!!!!!!!! This stuff will eat your skin. This is true of anything that will take paint off. When the paint starts to come off, scrub with an old toothbrush to get in all the nooks and crannies, wash the body very well and start over. The CSC can be reused...strain off the chunks of paint and put it back in the bottle. Once it gets to the point wear it doesn't have enough power to take off paint, just pour it down the drain. It's biodegradable and probably cleans the pipes out. Good luck!
  17. Great color choice Randy...love the stance too! Where did the air cleaner come from? Awesome build!
  18. Revell '67 Chevelle...parts box wheels, Duplicolor black and light blue. Added some wiring and plumbing. Thanks for looking.
  19. I have the #61 -#80 set. Get a good pin vise and you're set. For plug wires I use wire wrap from Radio Shack (30 AWG) and use the #73 bit. What I did was drilled holes in a piece of sheet plastic using all the bits and labeled the holes and saw what size wire fit into what size hole.
  20. Very sharp Irv!
  21. I'll have to check the on-call schedule for work...if I'm not on I'd like to show up. If they can get along with Peterson then I should be safe!
  22. Very nice! It wasn't bad enough I have to put my models on the same table as Bill Geary, Lyle Willits, Cruz, etc...won't be long until your stuff is off the junior table and winning on the "senior" table!
  23. Man, those two Kern guys are turning out some pretty slick builds out of New Holland...and to think that there isn't anything there but horse and buggies for inspiration! Great job!
  24. That is TOUGH! Love the stance...very cool build!
