yep an 0657, roadster at that. As I had all but the body of an 06 camaro concept (AMT full detail), I thought I'd put it to use with a 57 chev. Therefore an 06 57, then whilst I was about it I chopped the roof off the 57, Not quite a simple swap/bash but I only started last night and its not that far from paint. Gotta make the top of a firewall and extend the front inner wheel wells.

Thanks guys, Roger pm sent.

Phenomenal work John. Its not just that's its so cleanly put together or that they're built so fast or that they're weathered to perfection, Realism can be obtained by a few builders on this forum, but you ............ you seem to capture the very essence of what you build and it shows. Thank you for sharing some of the processes you take, I'm sure all of us take something in from all you share.

thanks guys, printed out the sheet and used the white stripes, a little translucent but liveable , Salvaged in a few pieces the graphics for the other side but when I put a light coat of clear on the first side they went all brittle and fell apart , Worried about all my other ones now. Anyways, will try to get them off the car and use my printed ones, the gold Blue Max etc sure isnt gold (inkjet) but they'll have to do. Also had to pull the wiring and injector hat off (swapped for the Hilborn injectors) as they held up the tin work to high. Didnt have that problem on my PL Hawaiian

thanks guys heres where it was at last Wednesday , just another mockup, seems to be sitting a lot higher now .grrrrrr wheelbase looks off to me as well but none of that was touched

Got the 1st wet coat on today , will give it a light wet sand and re coat in a day or 2. Nearly finished up the interior, going to put a nav sat cd player on the black piece. Cheers guys, get building and get posting.

thanks guys, reshaped the rear wheel openings a little, then opened and hinged the trunk, made gutters for the rain it will never see to run off in and got the chassis all together. also put valves in all the tires. Do you think the yellow's bright enough?

WHAT ?????????????? Thats thats thats cool man. If I can inspire someone with what I do, it makes it all worthwhile to me. Thanks Dennis Thanks Tom, great idea re the rear fenders. Mike, thanks and yes I did consider it but then commonsense kicked in. I only have a few weeks to build this and the weather is turning down here. Jeffrey, thanks, Motor is out of the Testors, Boyds Smoothster. Whereabouts in the country are you? I'm 25ks south of Hamilton. Thanks Paul, apparently theres quite a few of these out there, I'd only seen one model one before I posted mine. Thanks Blair, you do some very cool work yourself.

thanks Doug, I like the bulges behind your seats, kinda wish I'd done that.mocked up the engine and some wheels after a bit more bogging and sanding and a bit more bogging. going to use the Boyds smoothster set as a: they big and little's and :b they fit a little better 2010 camaro wheels Boyds wheels Pegasus Phat daddies 23's, might have used these if I had some 19's for the front but 23's are too big how the engine looks

thanks guys , color leaning towards yellow with graphics or a red metallic or pearl.Wheels undecided as yet other than they will have spokes possibly also the ones from the smoothster/ coupster. Cut the headlights off the guards at a bit of an angle, didnt go to extreme then put plates over the holes. Once its all set up nice and strong I'l blend them in. Was a bit disappointed with the Porsche headlights as they're only a clear lens. I'll have to foil under and around them

Very cool Kerry.

Revell kit, lowered the front suspension about 3mm by moving the stubs up as far as they could go.Blue paint is Duplicolor pale blue as a base coat with a blue pearl nail polish over top, cleared with two light coats of ppg clear with purple pearl powder in it then two final coats of clear. am going to redo the decals

Our club is having a convert a convertible night in May, so you can make a kit thats never been produced as a convertible into one, or a convertible thats never been a hardtop/coupe into one. So .......one that caught my eye online a couple years ago was a swoopy willys roadster. So since the only time I'd build something like this is for a theme like this here go's. Off with the roof (strangely enough ) sectioned the hood and filled the hole. the bit behind the seats is from the Old AMT 58 Impala (tounneu sp cover) severly sectioned then narrowed and seats are out of (I think ) the Revell 37 Ford coupe. Will have at this stage , the Fuel injected small block chev from the Testors Boyds coupster. Once I'm happy with the area behind the seat tops ,I'll work on laying back the headlight area of the front guards for some carraera headlights.

Hi,New Here,71-73Blue Max Mustang Question
brett replied to Rt4957's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
this one ? if so I used a model master blue (maybe olds engine blue ,cant remember sorry it was 10 years or more ago) with a LOT of white added. The blue I used was quite metallacy but the white toned it down heaps. -
nice! came out great. I also done one of these using a topsportsman chassis a while ago
-
thanks guys, appreciate it, well I knew it was gonna happen, the decals are toast. The white stripes four pieces, Blue Max name in three, drivers name in four and this side looks better than the ones on the sheet for the rest of the car, they're cracked to hell. Given them two coats of microscale liquid decal film, hoping to save the gold ones. Scanned the whole sheet before I started so cant print out all the white stripes with black pinstriping, once I get some ink :

AMT 40 Ford Sedan Stock Car , first time building
brett replied to CrazyGirl's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Battery clamp looks great, I'd venture to say 90 percent of us on this board have never built one. I use cheapish $10 for a 6 pack of metal files from the hardware shop (probably much cheaper in the states though) and nail files from the dollar store (The wider ones with foam like stuff in the middle) they come in assorted grits , yes they are throw a ways when used but you get a lot of use for your dollar. On another note your car looks great, I sure wouldnt have attempted a build like this at this stage modelling, so good on you for that. -
Thanks Anne. If you mean the writing on the rocker covers, they're a decal that comes in the kit. Block, heads any of the green stuff was airbrushed, the orangey was rattle canned cause I was too lazy to decant it (if I 'd been thinking ahead I could have done them the same time I did the roof, but at that stage I hadn't decided on anythiung but body color).Carbs, exhaust manifolds and all other bolt on parts were done by brush. If you look at any of my other builds you'll see I do a lot of detail painting with a brush. hope this helps a bit. This builds under glass now.

thanks Kerry, your nova body looks great, gave it a quick polish this morning, just starting the hood pretty happy with it
