  1. thats cool ! where did you get the wheels from?
  2. and a last couple for the night now I know Sally doesn't actually have any sort of rear spoiler I really couldnt be bothered making up the plate necessary to replace it so I just left it really low. I did say there would be some fudged details along the way
  3. Thanks Carl, Seeing as Sally was motoring along I decided to start on McQueen. First up fill all the un needed holes and vents and as his headlights are "just stickers" put the lenses in those too, to blend in so they can be painted over so I rubs the lotion on the McQueen then I rubs it back off (thats body filler for the un knowing )then I rubs some more on and tomorrow I'll rub it off and prime to find any remaining low spots
  4. thanks guys, appreciate it. As I seeminly become more of a starter than finisher of builds, here's the progress on Sally and the start of Lightning Mc Queen. Sally being a Porshce 911 GT3, Tamiya kit relatively box stock plus a little body work. almost ready for the paint booth now and Lightning, have started with a 2010 ZR1 corvette. Filling holes he dosen't need I've done bigger (or worse ,depending on how you look at it) body mods before so will start smoothing him out later on today.
  5. WOW, Now thats cool !! and beautifully done . Excellent work and great looking details
  6. looking very good, I was hoping it would be a relatively easy build but................... Well at least now I have a plan of attack, I'll use your build as a guide
  7. thanks guys, appreciate the nice comments, gotta few little touchups to and find some wheels but he's edged quite quickly towards the finish line today
  8. for whats apparently not a fun kit to build, you've done a great job Carl. That paint is beautiful
  9. thanks guys, Having fun with mater at least. the King, Chick Hicks, Filmore and the Sarge, Sally, Ramone and The Snot rod and lastly but not the least Lghtning are the cars I already have to build. Lightning is based on a c6 vette with a lot of generic nascar stylings thrown in from what I've found out so thats what I'm basing him on. If I can find what I need at a reasonable price I'll happily do any of the others but 11of the cast from what I have so far isnt too bad. ANYHOW bit of color thrown about today
  10. as some of you may know from an under glass post a few weeks back I've taken to building some of the cars from cars( the movie)The sheriff is done and Docs almost finished. Alcladed the modified front bumper( one of my bet Alclad jobs at that, picked it up with a piece of soft cotton cloth only to find the black underneath was still quite tacky ) so its been stripped and I'll re-paint this weekend. so after my set back with Doc yesterday I decided to start on mater, using a 55 chev cameo as the starting point. Just going to post up pics but if you wanna know how I did something just ask some liberties have been taken and some details fudged a little but I think he'll look the part
  11. Thanks James, the plan is to finish the car( have the resin just need the motorvation to mix and pour the parts I need ), then take a photo of it completed, do a bit of photo shopping and print that out as the trailer decals. In theory not too hard but gotta get a into g to do any of it.
  12. with a little less camber and the chrome dulled down a little, those shots on the concrete could almost pass for 1:1. I like it and your photos are really good too.
  13. Thanks guys, yea some will be harder to pull off but if I get them pretty close the kids wont care, Rob, yes I've seen then Russian I think yes 1:43rd snapper with stickers. Not a full range of charactors though, which is one thing I can do most of, Need to find ,a ( i think ) 60 fury for Flo and an early Le France pumper for big red oh and Bambina for Guido and an isetta? for the little forklift dude, but otherwise reasonably set of most of them

Thanks guys, appreciate it. Dan, I think you hit the nail on the head, though I think mine may be catching on the back corners of them, by the centre peak. Peter K, your a long way from home, but I wouldnt rush back in a hurry if I was in your shoes , Yes we can get it though most of my paint is sourced from 1:1 car painters, just ask nicely and explain why you want it, some are quite keen to see the finished build as a lot used to build back in their younger days. Jim, it shines up nice in the sun, specially when the flake shows up, we're coming into summer soon so i'll get a nicer pic for you.
  15. my 2 and 3yr old grandsons love the movie cars, so much that the 2yr olds mum (my 2nd eldest) can pretty much recite the whole movie, Anyways I've decided to build as many as I can in 24th/25th scale as I can, which is quite a few of them. Starting with the easiest the Sheriff. AMT 49 Merc pretty much box stock will add to this thread as I build them, doc hudsons half done as I type

crappy cloudy day but fine enough to take some better shots than what I had, doesnt show the flake at all though the hood also sits a little high at the front, not sure what its catching on though ppg pearl white and candy orange, cleared with ppg lame flake (that you cant see).
  17. Had another 5 turn up today . I think I'm probably in the youger half of the demigraphic ( I think thats the word I want) of this forum and fate notwithstanding intend to build all what I've got. Like Ben I tend to grab them when I see them as sometimes they just become unaffordable in thier old age . In saying that I have certain projects in mind( with pics to remind me) for almost every kit I have, there's only maybe half a dozen that dont have anything specific planned for them. And if by the time I get round to that project and my tastes hace changed (un likely) I'll sell on or trade for what I do want. And if I do kick the proverbial bucket before my hobby supportive wife, she knows roughly what they are worth to sell.
  18. very very cool, slicks look great
  19. Very cool Kerry, color suits perfectly, great choice and neat build
  20. Awesome job Ron, one of the tidiest examples I've seen. Thought about coming to a Model petrol heads meeting?
  21. Mike, definately looks like a leaf from here, in front of and behing the front wheels on the last two pics you can just see it, good call.
  22. agree totally Rob, before at a glance you could tell it 's a 69 chevelle, now it leaves you wondering. Still it does look great and more like the modern era or race car so my hat is off to you Jeff, thats some phenomenal work there dude.
