  1. great job Robert, very reallistic
  2. It has the newer one piece with separate roll cage. Personally I've never had a problem with the old multi piece chassis , a bit more of a challenge maybe but not a problem
  3. Thanks guys, appreciate the comments Doing the King now, need to find some wheels for mater, dont have much more to do for McQueen, Hoping to have Ramone done before xmas, then I might take a little break before sarge and Filmore and the old girl (early t) then chick hick pretty much rounds them out though I might do snot rod as well. Joe ,Havent seen planes yet but you should be pretty safe at least from me doing them.
  4. Thanks Carl.
  5. we all knew you'd hit a home run with this one Darryl, but man you've hit it right out of the park. A+ Awesome !!
  6. just a couple of outside pics and a couple with its younger brothers
  7. thanks guys I've been a bit slack about updating sorry. Heres some outside shots of the next batch of finished ones, just need to print out the headlight "stickers" for McQueen and he'll be done also.
  8. Its really up to you Allen, whilst there is a lot of resin out there most of it is going to require a fair amount of modification to the olds chassis, as most pro mod style bodies have a longer wheelbase than the olds. The main re basic mod you will have to do to a relatively stock model is remove the firewall and any inner guards. If you build the chassis up first then check it out against whatever you want to fit it in for wheelbase and roll cage height , you'll get a much better idea of what works and what will be too much work for your comfort zone at the moment. You can also hold the bodies together to get an idea on both of those as well. A few of us have hacked bodies up, so once you've decided on your victim , let us know and between us all we should be able to tell you the best way to hack, splice and add where needed to get the body you desire .
  9. 69 nova isnt too bad a fit
  10. competition eliminator maybe or an altered type class. That particular body wouldn't fit in to very many classes off the top of my head.
  11. good to see them all again Joe, great work on them all
  12. Jeremy, the thing is, if you get someone else to build your frame/cages for you, they're going to need not only the exact body you're planning on doing but the same motor gearbox diff to set everything up so it fits. Yes its possible that you could add the bars needed for these but sometimes its easier to fit them in earlier in the roll cage process. I laid out a basic how to for a pro mod chassis here http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=74760&page=1 as I said basic but pretty simple to follow, I have a problem with my hands so cant maintain a grip on things for more than a few seconds, so use brass and solder but the process is exactly the same using styrene. If you muck up a bend and we all do ,cut the bend out of the rod and use the shorter pieces somewhere else, it really cuts down the wastage. I should be around here a bit more often again now so if you need help, sing out. You will notice there is a couple missing pieces of rollcage by the drivers legs but until I finish the interior I'll leave them out and super glue styrene in place.
  13. looking good ! just try and keep the pics about the size of the last 2. Just a bit easier to see. Almost all my stuff is done on a budget ie paint the plug boots on with flat black I've painted the a and n fittings on the same size/piece of plastic and at a few feet its quite deceptive/ pleasing to the eye, sure it wouldn't win you a contest but its really good practice at detail painting. Checkout the 76 Blue Max to see what it looks like.. I don't know what this kit goes together like so make sure to mock up body and chassis with tin before you paint in case you change things so it doesn't look like a 4x4
  14. Much better pics and it does look really good. Try putting a little flat black on the plug leads at the dizzy/mag end, it fools the eye quite a bit and makes it look more realistic .
  15. Thanks Walter, avrage should acually be up this year I think Im almost done no. 27 and still got 6 weeks to go.
  16. wow Tom , that side profile looks great. I think your chop was about perfect, seen a couple done with a 5 or 6 inch done and it really changes the shape whereas yours has enhanced it. You're making me want to do one now
  17. re Chi Town, no adjustments nessacery http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=40313 Thanks for the head rush over the camaro, I need to get that car done for a display in January. Take care yourself.
  18. alright all this math is making my head hurt(never was any good at it) got about 350 kits and build around 25 per year. On average I would buy about 15 kits a year but got a few extra this year,
  19. nice work Daryl ! Love the Ramchargers cars, gonna do the demon/duster early in the new year, hope it looks as tidy as this.
  20. Mitch, not sure what the MPC floppers are going to be like to go together ( have the Kallita and hotrod as well as the Judge which apparently needs a bit of work ) however, point is the Chi Town is a beautiful kit to put together and as such may be easier to detail as everything fits already with no fuss, There's several built up on here mine included if you want to check them out. Charlie ( Pro Tech) has a few builds on here showcasing his products as well as his beautifully clean work so hunt them down too if you have the time.
  21. Thanks guys, appreciate it, Decaled the 1st side and top today, my masks for the white paint were pretty close on this side, hopefully will be just as good on the other
  22. Cheers Jake , got to find some wheels for Mater( 32nd scale truck/ military ), make Sally's eyebrows ( well paint and glue) and do a couple touch ups on lightning then clear and re paint his side windows , his headlights are a bit of a problem at the moment but will figure something out
