  1. great looking build Alan !!
  2. thanks guys, appreciate it Jim, no the kit comes with two deployed chutes though be warned the chute took almost as long to thread as the car did to build
  3. Awesome job Aaron (not that we expect anything less from you )
  4. thanks again fellas, Mike that looks good, manage to pick up and old, new in box AMT Pinto/Bobcat funny car kit, so will build that with a paint style closer to yours (when I ever get around to building it).
  5. Great job Al. looking better and better each time , nice pics too
  6. I was also going to do this but Frankton model shop sold it just before I went back to get it. It had been sitting there for years . Oh well, at least I know I'll get to see what it would have looked like and I know you'll do a great job

  8. The other build I did for movie night was the 57 chev from the Australian film Running on Empty, may be a bit more of a street racer type car, it would also fit as a gasser if it had slicks, anyways here it is, Revell Black widow body etc, monogram 70 Chevelle engine parts box wheels and tires
  9. Our club had a movie car night a month or so back so I attempted to recreate the willys from the movie Hot Rod, in the most gasser esque guise it ran in Amt body/chassis with Revell motor. parts box rear wheels and tires, front wheels are from the 50 olds kit it shouldnt have the flip front I know but it just worked out that way using the AMT body. headers are solder with aluminum collectors
  10. to be honest I dont know if that claim is still true but its a pretty cool car anyhow. Original issue, I knew the re issue was coming but didnt really want to buy a second because of old decals, but as my luck would have it , I'll need to anyway. anyways its a good 5 footer at the moment, windows are just tacked in at the moment, I think once its cleared the edges of most will blend in, but I have to replace the left side window trim, left the top windscreen off as it goes over the left one 1st.
  11. Mpc kit re issued goes together a little differently than the Revell or Johan kits but still yields a great looking build imo. Decals were a bear to do, the whole side of the car in one piece and I ended up ripping one side as they are quite brittle. brought a replacement and even they (which I cut to ease installation as such) still didnt want to go on very well. Parachutes are quite cool but headache inducing hence I only have one done so far . Built box stock. If the engines getting covered I dont bother with too much detailing anymore.
  12. Thanks guys. Bob, the same way as applied to skin, it just takes longer. Lay it where you want it, apply pressure with a reasonably warm wet cloth for a few minutes, very carefully lift a corner to see it its sticking to the car,if not carefully lay it back down and apply the wet cloth again. I didnt clear these ones as it was a last minute decision and the glass was already installed. I'd probably go for Future before using an actual clear over them.
  13. cheers guys, been really slack at taking pics and even worse at uploading them, but have made some progress. Not sure if the black tubing for spark plug boots etc has shrunk a little but it was near impossible to get it over the leads, so I gave up on it at the heads end and painted them flat black. easy enough to pull and fix later, you'll notice that the leads are still a little long (thats why).
  14. Sorry Mitch, yes I do (almost always) use clear as I use a lot of base coat colors I need to clear them. If its not covered in decals I use Duplicolor Acrylic/Enamel straight from the can. If it is decaled I use PPG as the Duplicolor eats decals. Once dry I give it a quick once over with 2000 grit wet paper, the Tamiya Polish Fine the Tamiya polish Finish. This is a resin body (Flashpoint Resins) , the Revell body is a gasser and Personally I wouldnt use a single piece from it for this style of car, as a gasser/ modified production etc type car its perfect (and by all accounts a great kit). Your painted body looks great from what I can see and you saved it perfectly. Thanks for the props, I'll try and make more of an effort to get back on here, been building a fair bit though not a lot of drag stuff at the moment (well kinda not a lot maybe not finishing what I already had started and building new stuff would be better. Slack at taking pics too .
  15. Great looking very clean build, Superb job Boban , personally I like the car have done two, one box stock like this and one as a phantom Stardust fc
