  1. built along side the Mr Norms car though crumbling decals have slowed this one down abit this one is Sems Candy winefire over a silver base
  2. Polar Lights 69 charger Fc as in the Mr Norms Supercharger. Original issue kit, Put the frame together in a motel room when I was attending a hobby show early July (actually built 2, Gene Snows Rambunctious as well) along with the basic long blocks Painted the frames and bodies a few days after I got home. Hadnt /didnt do much for the next few weeks as my health took a turn for the worse. But decided I wasnt going to beat it if I didnt stop sitting there feeling sorry for my self. so started building again. Anyways I remember reading somewhere that the Mr Norms car was more of a metallicy gel coat type color rather than a true metallic or candy red so I used Duplicolor metal specks red over a gold base, but even if I'm wrong I still think it came out a great color and finish. Only had one real decal issue (yay for me) which was the hood stripe ripping a little(got another one coming). Anyhow here's some pics mr norms at the front after my usual 10 minute polishing
  3. if anyone could pull this off with the troubles you had it would be you John, never disappointed with your clean building style
  4. I'll betcha this is as close to box stock as you could build Joe Goss !! looking good buddy very JJ Lieberman esque colors though, not that thats a bad thing. Cant wait to see what you color wise to the body
  5. awesome job Joe !! love it!
  6. sounds like the McEwen Duster. and although the kit decals are wrong I have a spare set if you'd like them.
  7. Thanks Gene, scored another, so will clear those and see how they look. if they look better I'll remove the ones on this car and replace them. If they dont I'll go aftermarket, though with a bunch of 1:1 repair bills at the moment that will be a little while off.
  8. found an online one for you's, many thanks to Wayne (1320) for sharing this in the 1st place http://quartermilers.proboards.com/thread/868/funny-car-chassis-tutorial-parts
  9. pity so many of your pics are missing, you are a superb builder by the looks of things that I can see
  10. cheers guys . Stan yeah the old girl was in the family for a long time and I'll probably scratchbuild most of the chassis for them this time to get them a little closer. Hope to see yours one day. Jason, its almost exactly the same as the soft seal/streetburner 57 chevs the Carpenter 55 and the Jukebox ford and the Christene Fury. The drivers cage is slightly finicky depending on how well it molded, had some that fit great and a couple that were a little short in places, but overall I think its a great kit. Must of built a couple of dozen of the chassis over the years. Larry, I also have a few aftermarket sets for these but I hate cutting the doors etc off because of all the extra work that has to go into them (I'm lazy like that . I mixed the blue up out of a few different shades so no idea what actual shade it is.
  11. the old MPC Strikeforce, nice job !! I recently acquired another body so am going to try replicating the box art.
  12. yeah mate, it's been in the wanting to do pile for a long long time, but getting the right all white lettering has been the issue there but heres what I did a few years back most of these are gone now with the chassis being used elsewhere but I still have enough kits to do them all a little better (I hope ) at a later date
  13. Thanks Dale . Vernon, I use 1320 Waynes tutorial . Cut the diff mounting points off the chassis and move them up as far as you can. cut about 4mm off the bottom of the roll cage and the tin work needs to be altered to fit. I also lowered the engine slightly by cutting the mounting bars off and attaching them lower,if you do this you will also have to remove a little material from the mid plate housing where it sits on the chassis. the best part of this is if you get that right you dont have to cut the seat to clear the driveshaft. Hope that helps a bit, but I strongly advise anyone wanting to do this to find Waynes' tutorial with the pictures. It is on this forum somewhere.
  14. Dont know about it being a good Aussie movie Jesse, Think it was called Fast Lane Fever in the states but I'm pretty sure its on you tube. Thanks for the nice comments guys, appreciate it. While neither of these cars is completely correct, they carry enough of the intention behind them to portray the cars intended (everyone who knows car movies knows what cars they are supposed to be).
  15. undecided whether to try and super detail or build out of the box. I tend not to detail cars that the engine sits under the predominately closed hood as there doesnt seem to be a lot of point to it . Just to throw a curve ball in the works the body you will see 1st is only a spare incase the one I want to use doesn't work out(decal wise) .I t will be a Revell pro sportsman 55 on the kit supplied (everything) but this spare dark blue car will have the kit supplied decals on it as a backup. Anyways, now that I've probably confused you heres the chassis/cage and painted spare body I have to paint the aluminum plate (forgot to finish it at the time ) doh paint looks heaps darker in pics than here.
  16. Thanks guys, Jason 1st thanks 2nd the roof is much better than the rest as it has no raised edges to burn through, although I did repolish the rest of the red since those pics were taken. Had decal issues as I knew I would, even after coating them with Microscale Liquid decal film they still tore a bit and didnt want to stick. After using Micro set then Micro sol I ended up using touch's of Krystal Klear glue to hold them down. I'm picking up another kit next week so will try again with a couple of new methods and if that doesnt work will go aftermarket for them. still have to install chassis tin (painted yesterday ) and the front firewall (yet to be modified) then its just the brake lever
  17. looks good maybe a incredible hulk theme ?? Havent got a screen I'm afraid but with the reissue out soon there maybe people that only want it for the chassis/ engine so maybe a post in the wanted section??
