Robert, I was just reading last night in the latest SA mag that the dash/ windscreen coming together may cause a slight issue with fit, just a heads up if you didnt know.
-
beautiful ! I was worried it was gonna be the topless car cause that was fugly.
-
Thanks Chris

they both look great, would love to see soame more shots of the maverick though

Another funny I loved the look of, another Comp Resins body on another Revell JJ chassis (Monza this time ), Polar lights wheels and tires as they were the right wheels and as a bonus Tampo printed lettering of the appropriate brand. Lowered and roll cage chopped about 3mm, box stock otherwise, I'll do another detailed build early next year ( not that far away really). as you can see a couple little paint touch ups to do, hopefully its masked out properly for the decals to fit

Thanks guys, its always been one of my favorite cars from the era, so am glad I could get one on the shelf. I think it sits a little high at the front so may revisit that in the future but again thanks for the nice comments.

'86 Iaconio Motorcraft/Budweiser P/S build
brett replied to MitchP's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
2up and 1 down is still progress Mitch and the fun is in the journey (so they say lol) . Pics are a little small but from what I can see it looks pretty good ! You dont have to impress us candy is still candy whether its melted or not ( bad analagy maybe but what I'm trying to say is, we all appreciate the builds others put up whether box stock or Tyrones or (anyothers ) high detail eye candy. The only one that has to be truely happy with it is you. I, myself dont detail everybuild, not only would it bore me but it would almost turn it into a job ie not fun so if you want to detail great, if you dont still great, the point is have fun, continue to learn and build for yourself. -
Great job Robert ! You've done such a good job on this I think many will use it for insperation for their own builds, I know I will

Very very cool !! very well done too!

Comp Reins body ,Slixx decals on a modified( lowered and chopped) Revell JJ chassis.
-
They're still better than my current build Gary. Building a re bodied JJ Monza, with the multi piece chassis, theres no instructions ,pics whatsoever on the chassis assembly, on everything else yes but the chassis no. That would surely screw over an inexperianced builder? I've built over a dozen of them so doesnt rally matter to me ,but how did that not get noticed by Revell?

its coming togeher very nicely Robert, great work.

Karl, I did sit one on a Revell chassis, body only eg no tin and although the revell frame is too long the stance looks real good. Thing is I think it will cause a lot more issues whichever way you look at it, certainly not an easy swap for the casual or inexperianced builder, You'd have to shorten the frame then get it back together, wire pins would be best here I think. Then change the fuel /oil tanks for period correct and change all the tin work.. Gary, sorry for the thread hi jack. One thing you could try is where the body pivots up put a small bar across the top of the frame rails, it does raise the back a little but also lowers the front to a much better level.

Showboat Redux / Quarter Master...Update 11/23/13
brett replied to Nitrozilla's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
too much work for me !! Brilliant stuff Joe -
I think I hate you lol jk. Man dude you keep setting that bar higher and higher. Brilliant stuff. re the front wheels , what ever you did to the back ones look great other wise a dark satin magnesium. my 2 cents

The 69/70 mustang seems to be by far the most challenging to get to sit right out of the ones I've built, just set it on the shelf for a while , then one day in the future take it down and alter the stance( ie when you are heaps calmer, its what I do). Apart from the hight (which isnt your fault) your build looks great so far. Stretch the blower belt before use, they tend to pull down on the top pulley or the bottom one up. Is it catching on the supercharger injector hat? looks pretty close in the third pic.
-
Thats a great job Niko, you have improved immensly since your first builds posted here and you're still pretty young. You'll be whipping all our butts soon especially if you keep knocking out builds like this. Glue bombs are way harder to do than a nice new kit imho, so keep it up

got the name on, hope to get some casting done this week (lenco is the most important bit at the moment) means quite a few interior bits can be finished and it will help locate the rear end in the guards.(with driveshaft of course)

thanks guys, appreciate the comments, made a simple slammer style chassis for McQueen as it seemed a waste of a ZR1, and way too much work for my allowed time frame to modify a NASCAR chassis to fit(not only was the wheelbase off it meant altering all the roll-cage as well). quick mock up in paint also got the lights up on Mater, just gotta get the wheels now
-
Sorry Roger / guys, its the compresins body (very nice ) on a Revell JJ vega chassis with Slixx decals. The paint is a Du Pont dark blue with a metallic dark blue nail polish over the top. The decals spider web cracked when I put the clear on, whether that was my fault or not I'm not sure. The injectors and hat are out of my parts box. Chassis and cage were lowered using Waynes tutorial as a guide line, interior tin has to be modified quite a bit as well. I do think the body's a little too low at the back (shoulda had a bit of rake ) but thats my fault.

thanks guys, Del, I really like the candy red with white coves rendition but will stick to the more common one for this project, although the tongue is a great idea and thank you so much for reminding me about Sallys' tramp stamp ( its now done ). Anyways, used ared guide coat over the primer for one last check of high/low spots before paint, found a couple but he's pretty close now Now to draw out the flame masks
