  1. As the direction has been chosen, I got some done on this today,I'll let the pics speak for themselves Did a lot of swapping around with the flat chrome wing but decided this is the way I wanted to go with this car
  2. Its looking good alright Phil, hope you can get the parts you need soon
  3. I've just taken to shaving the kit ones down with my exacto, gets them pretty close
  4. Beautiful job Bob, stunning paint and foil
  5. Thanks guys no a lot have gone to the barbecue table size rear deck now. And the wheelbase/chassis lined up perfectly, that's why this one ended up at the front end of the que
  6. Thanks guys, decided to stay blown (cant get any decent turbos at the moment) with the cowl hood. Still undecided about the wing though am still leaning toward the fueler style. Anyway body in primer, cowl in hood and cage painted and assembled.
  7. Most probably the way I'm gonna go with this one. Thanks everyone for your opinions will update later on today
  8. I'ld like to see it with that same grill cut down to say 2mm widths with even spacing, paint could change everything but as said it looks a bit clunky as is, but its your build ,you're the one has to be happy with it.
  9. Since I'm a glutton for punishment/or dont have a life lol, I thought I'ld start another project I've been wanting to do for a while. Thinking about twin turbo though it does look good with the blower hat, undecided about the wing though leaning heavily toward the last pic. Your thoughts?
  10. Yeah mate,a long way from me. I live about 1oo miles south of Auckland in the North island .Christchurch is quite a ways from me (down in the south island), dont know if we have any modelers on here from there (and not that I'm particularly religious ) pray/wish the best for everybody down there. Not sure how much you guys would have heard so any ? just ask and I'll do my best to fill you in
  11. Ya sure your not coming out of the closet Bob? as a factory stock builder , Sorry man couldnt resist........also why I alternate my builds a bit so as I dont get bogged down and run outta gas at 1000 feet..This is looking so good though ! Keep it up.
  12. Thanks Grumpy (kinda feels like I'm talking to myself here) lol Paint was a real bear to get close as its a true candy so showed up any and all overlays more coats meant it was to dark this was actually about the third attempt. 1st one was real close but had a couple of real bad dark stripes behind the front guards on the doors and the 2nd was just too dark full stop. 3rd still had the stripe behind the doors problem but not as bad so carefully tried to wetsand it out, came up pretty good.I think once the decals go on it shouldn't be to noticeable.
  13. No sweat Terry Kinda stalled on this whilst I wait for a lead on some decals, I know slixx have them but with the exchange rate and postage they work out around $20 a set to get them here so if I gotta go that way,I'll save up for a couple of weeks and get their buy three get one free deal. Did a little detail painting on some underside stuff last night then put it away to start on the next victim, a 69 Chevelle.
  14. Thanks guys, trying to work out what to do about the fuel supply. Should I run the fuel line straight from the trunk (where the fuel pumps are) to a T fitting OR run the line to a fuel block ? T would be easier as I wouldnt need to mount it anywhere....BUT would it be correct? (mumbles to self, shoulda built a blown engine at least ya know where everything goes).
  15. Thanks guys From the kit bro, its the newer issue with the black car on the box
  16. Yeah you did ! and it looks pretty good from here man . Good work
  17. Couple of years in the mid eighties(about 16yrs old), a few cars and a couple of truck kits (big rig) then the obligatory cars n girls took over then kids.Started again when the youngest was a baby (thats when Revell brought out the original top sportsman kits ,mid nineties? ), didn't really stop, though wasn't really serious about it till about 05 when I found a club, improved heaps since then . so about 17 odd years.
  18. Please dont get all anal over this (its going on my shelf right lol), its not going to be all that close to correct or detailed but should be close enough to look like what it should, confused? lol. Just a stressfree (yeah right) build while taking a small break from the Belair. HoK candy blue (couple of drops mixed with clear) over a silver base. Using the kit hemi not the correct olds cause once the hood is on all you see is the header tips and half the scoop.
  19. Rob, thats looking great man
  20. Wheels look good, how did you end up doing them?
  21. Nice job Jim, looks the goods for sure.
  22. Better to be a clean builder than a detailed glue bomber . Thanks for the pat on the back regarding the 62, for some reason that builds p ing me off at the moment. No, no dollars being spent here other than plug wires (brought by the reel, cheaper that way) .90 percent of what I do is scratchbuilt or modified, and every things done as cheaply as I can ie BMF is cut as close to size as posible no as to not waste it ( nearly $20 a sheet here) plug wires are cut with as little to spare so there's little to no offcuts. Detail wire is all crafters or beading wire (much cheaper than modelers though I'm sure its the same stuff). But now that I've dragged you way off topic (sorry), once again great looking car man!
  23. Great work, as always you have a very clean building style (if you know what I mean).
  24. Far out man (in my best Tommy Chong impersonation), I cant say unbelievable since its right there in front of us so maybe outstanding................. awesome work Doc
