Hey! It SNOWED in Phoenix yesterday!
Railfreak78 replied to Danno's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is the 3rd time I remember seeing it as a 32 year Native and it is so new everytime. I did not get a lot at work but I made work go on with out me so I could enjoy it. People thought I was nuts for being outside in the cold and wind but I was happy to get some flakes on video -
So this was my second car here on the forum and I figured after a year I better finish it. The car is almost complete now and after lots of sanding, it's time to mask and paint it again. I've learned a lot since I started this but I'm not going to go all out in detail as I want it to look like my style a year ago. Since I messed this one up I'll try a more detailed one later on.

So it has been a VERY long time since I have worked on this and updated as well so with no more delay.... I did get the body pretty much wrapped up. I have some more chassis detail and bars to make after cutting the cage to fit the body. I still need to find a way to get the wheels to sit better in the tires. I'm planning on wrapping this one up soon so for those of you watching, sorry about the delay

Hey everyone This is going to be a full blown all out custom rod that is inspired by one I found online. This particular car has some bad mold lines and when I went to sand them and bondo low spots, My new tube of bondo came out like water all over and created so much work. I started with 400 grit and have wet sanded down to 1500. It's actually smooth even though some spots do not look like it. When the rain lets up I'll hit it with more primer. This kit has inner door panels and hinges so I took the time to open this one up with a blade. I hope the weather clears soon as I'm really getting into this one ( Oh the bad gap really isnt that bad, The door are stuck to tape )

Hey everyone! I just wanted to say that 2010 was my first year back in the hobby after about a 13 year absence. I joined Moonlight Modelers and found this site about the same time. December of '09. I just wanted to thank MCM and Gregg for such a cool place to go for our hobby as well as thank each and everyone of you guys and gals that share tricks and tips to make everybody a better builder. I went from building out of the box with no detail but paint, to full engine detail and BMF and I learned it all here over one year. So here is to 2011 and I can't wait to continue learning and seeing more from you guys and gals! Happy New Year!

Not sure how I missed this one but Danno that is awesome! I didn't make the last meeting due to I had way to much going on. I want to say one thing though. The December meeting marked my one year in the club and I want to thank you for the offer to not only come check out the club but to join as well. The club is made up of such a diverse group in age, and ideas that you never know what your going to expect month to month. I have learned SO much from the great members and plan on doing it for years to come. So Thank you sir for your efforts you put into keeping it running and see you at Nifty 50's!

Some of this was on the Christmas thread but I added to it. I also removed my other stuff from the pics so that this is model related only. Some plastic including my favorite B bodies and a cool wagon and a couple trucks. I also got some new parts tree snippers and some new brushes. Also some decal stuff I need to figure out how to use. I have the bonder and paper too.

Love the big 4 door mobile air strips. My friends always told me they were going to buy runway lights for my Lincoln. Cool car and beautiful shape! -
Welcome to the club! There is plenty to look at in many catagories. Don't feel afraid to post on old topics and bring them back. Have fun!

I guess since everyone is showing gear I better show mine too. I'm slowly learning and collecting more stuff for this beginner set. -
What are your Projects for 2011
Railfreak78 replied to Clay's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a whole list that I put on another thread like this but here are some not so good pics of some cars on my bench right now gearing up for 2011. Some B body Mopars and a 1954 Sedan delivery. -
I have noted to myself on Ebay that I have seen the NYPD, New Jersey, and I think one other. I noticed some are molded and some pre painted. One more question if you don't mind.... Are thos curbside engine wise? I almost bought the New Jersey car this last weekend but I was turned off not knowing if the hood was sealed. I guess I need to just buy one so I can compare to the Dukes/Goon/TJ Hooker/etc car. I love these cars so much I guess I'm just wanting a little of everything

Railfreak78 replied to BigBlockLyle's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Here is a project I started when I was 17. I need to finish it. Out here in AZ I grew up playing in the desert off roading and wanted this to be a fun desert truck. -
Real car question
Railfreak78 replied to Nick F40's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not to mention the fact that you are NOT supposed to do an engine flush on a high milage car. It will make it leak oil if it didn't before. I worked for Mobil-1 Lube Express as a pit guy for a while and we refused customers wanting engine flushes on high milage cars due to liability. I've used both conventional and synthetic in my car with no problems. I prefer Mobil-1 even though I don't work there now but I can't afford it and the only leak I have is my valve cover. -
What else do you collect
Railfreak78 replied to BIGTRUCK's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I see both sides of building and collecting the car kits but one thing that worries me about a sealed "$300" car is even if you have the money and plan to build it. Does not mean its not full of tire burn and warped bodies and messed up windows. I'll stick with re issues for building. I will say the collecting aspect has me interested to but I don't think I can do it. -
I just bought a DOH new release 4 door police car and it looks like the parts are the same minus the light bar. It's rounded not rectangular. I just wanted the Force 440 to have for my collection of B-bodies as it was a one time release. The annuals are normally more when I see them than the Force 440. I'm not in a hurry though. Just found out the DOH will donate a LOT of parts for my 2 door projects as I do have 2 horrible condition Force 440 junk cars but I'm going to save them. I just wanted a clean one. Nice collection Spk. Hey you said the Yodel cars come with both grills and headlights. Are they the same scale?

Chevrolet Caprice Classic 1973
Railfreak78 replied to diymirage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Its actually not my stash. I want the 75 Road Runner kits here in this pic sooooooo bad They belong to a lady in our club and they are not for sale as they belonged to her husband. All of these are Annuals and go for a lot normally. I'd check into the differences though of the years. I just found out the 76 Caprice just hit the shelves again and the local shops. I hope this helps bud -
Chevrolet Caprice Classic 1973
Railfreak78 replied to diymirage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm not sure if there is a lot of difference but I restored this 74. It's an annual. In the very bottom of the bottom pic there is a 73. It is made but not sure the differences. You might be able to find a re-pop but they are based on the 74-76 Caprice. -
