  1. Nicely done Tony! Usually your builds look like 1:1s since your outdoor pics are so nice, so we'll let you slide on this one We've gotta get some 4x4s going!
  2. Very cool John! So much for the 'quick build' eh?
  3. Super realistic! Great work as usual Blair!
  4. Super nice builds Sam!!!
  5. Good stuff, congrats on the completions!
  6. Thanks for the encouraging words Bill, means ALOT coming from you! My thing about using a 'hardtop' for a 'vert uptop is that the underside will not have the 'peaks-n-valley' that a softop has Thanks for the reference pics, those will help a bunch. Also, so sorry to hear of your Father's passing...most sincere condolences to you & your family. Glad to see you're back at the bench now MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!!!
  7. Michael, just go to your profile>my settings, and set time zone there
  8. Mike, neither front nor rear tires are Pegasus...the rears are unknown (Corvette?) Goodyears, size 335/35R/20 from the parts box, and fronts are from the Cuda kit for the 'custom wheels'. Guys, I've played around with the remnants of the kit lid that I cut free, and also the optional top from the Challenger kit Roger posted a pic of, and both would require tons of work to look like a softop. I think either modifying an existing convertible uptop or scratching one as Roger suggested would be the best option. An uptop for me is not a deal breaker, it looks good top down with a boot too Thanks for the continued interest everyone, hopefully I'll get some progress over the next few days...
  9. AWESOME job!!! George and Jean will LOVE it!
  10. No, don't have one on hand. It's 1/24th anyway, not sure how much it would have to be cut-down. The one from the AMT 1/25 Challenger fits well, I think I'll use it. Would like to find an uptop to modify to fit too, but not sure if one's been made that's close, '72 Cutlass maybe???
  11. Thanks for the nice comments everyone! I'm thinkin' the kit supplied drivetrain John, as the other mods will give me plenty of additional work! Still a little tweaking to go on the wheel openings Erik. Gotta get some primer on to see exactly where I'm at and better pics too, white styrene on a white background isn't the best for showing progress

    My deuce

    Nicely done Rob!
  13. Here's what I've been tinkering with... Obviously cut the lid off, pretty straight-forward, but had to sand flat the panel forward of the trunk lid, as well as the quarter panel tops. I cut down the top-of-door moldings to replicate the 1:1s better, I think this helps the somewhat 'high-sided' look of the kit body. Shaved just a bit off of the bottoms of the rockers too: Here's what 19" Pegasus aluminum sleeves look like wrapping the cut-down and dull-coated stock kit wheels, as well as the corrected wheel opening on the body:
  14. I've been using this for at least 30 years! Made from a screwdriver with the business end cut off, and a small Jacobs chuck, very handy for deburring larger (1:1) stuff too:
  15. Super nice Donn! Hope to see it at Castle Shannon in a few months?
  16. Looks COOL so far! So are these 2002 bodies available currently, or was this a one-off, or???
  17. My favorite LHS stocks & sells more automotive kits now than he did before Hobby Lobby moved in down the road. I think since he lowered his prices to compete and has a MUCH better selection than HL, this has really helped him move kits. He also buys collections and resells them pretty cheap! Top shelf guy too...
  18. WOW!!! Looks GREAT Joseph, I'll be ordering as soon as they are available Thank you for providing us offroaders with more options!
  19. NICE!!!
  20. Looking forward to this, neat idea!
  21. Yes, the Gen 2 Mark IV BBC (396) was available in 1965 full-size and Corvette, as was the 409 early in the production year, but the W-engine was NEVER in the Vette. NO 427 until 1966! If you are using the Monogram '65 Impala for your donor kit anyway, I'd use the engine in the kit...post pics when you build it! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Big-Block_engine
  22. Now THAT'S something you don't see everyday! Very cool
  23. How cool is that? Here's a replacement door up for bid: http://www.ebay.com/itm/RESIN-CAST-HESS-TRAINING-RECREATIONAL-VAN-REPLACEMENT-DOOR-JUNKYARD-DIORAMA-/360810456135?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item5401faa447
