I have this kit and I built it years ago. I have been thinking that why people say that the Fenders don't fit... In my kit I had absolutely no problem with them. But I remember that the engine in this kit is Way too small and quite simple also. So a different engine from some other kit might be a good idea.

This turned out very nice! You did great job with the Body Conversion, actually that's something that I have wanted to do for a long time also. Nice work with the paint and finishing also, it looks just like ready kit from Revell or Moebius, all parts fit so well etc. Great job. -
Well I finally got the Dashboard detailed. The decals are from the kit, and then I did some detail painting and black washing to make it look more realistic. It still needs of course a Steering Wheel and Steering Column, but also a Tachometer. I will get back to the body soon.

Then we have Marko Lantto from Flat Out Racing. He goes always Full Throttle and he don't lift up the throttle very easily. The car is '81 Chevy Corvette, best ET is around 6,3 seconds. But on Last year's second event, it seemed to be slippery for this Vette... And a Video (Not Mine). Sometimes he does huge burnouts, too. Don't care about the Corvette guy, don't know who he is and the video is not mine either.

Thanks guys, those kind words are greatly appreciated. Well here is a picture of the Driveshaft Loop. As I did on my Nova build, this is scratchbuilt from Beer Can Aluminium. I'm still planning to add a couple of bolt & nut ends to it, if I can find any...

Nice build of a great subject! The paint looks very good, even if you had some troubles with it and overall finishing is truly amazing, very clean work.

Really cool Vintage Stock Car build. Clean work with the finishing and nice paint. The shine is just perfect for a Stock Car, not too shiny (Is that even possible?) but not Matte finish either. Great work. P/L Chassis? What's that?

Thanks Kevin, and yes I must admit, that shot turned out better than I expected.

That is going to be another cool ProMod from your bench! The Frame looks very good already, and so does the body too. What kind of engine you are planning? I'll be watching for sure.

Das sieht Super aus! Ich möchte dass Lincoln auch kaufen. Really nice work, the paint and finish are looking excellent. Nice job on a kit I'd like to buy and build also, this Concept has always looked very good on my eyes.

Today I drove to school with my 1980 Tunturi Trial (A Finnish Classic Moped, very rare) as usual. We went to church with out Class for a visit. I parked it to the Parking Lot as usual, and locked it with its Steering Lock that makes steering impossible. I took my helmet inside and went to the church as my Classmates did too. When the Lesson ended and we went to Parking Lot, a girl that's on our class asked if I saw his helmet anywhere. It was stolen from her scooter. Well I said "No, it was there when I came, but haven't seen it since then." But then I started looking around....Where is My Tunturi?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!! It was gone and I didn't see it anywhere nearby. So someone took my Bike and her helmet, so maybe someone had opened the steering lock somehow and had driven away???? Well then we went to Police Station with my Dad and currently Tunturi is wanted by Police. It was 300 Euros when I bought it. I spent over 2,000 Euros for restoring it, and it was in good shape. Hopefully they'll find it somewhere, if not, I hope the insurance pays me something. So....What's Wrong With Some People?!

I agree that Model Building needs to attract new Modelers from the New Generations. And for example in my family, me, a 16 year-old guy got interested in building Models when I saw my father's '70 Chevelle SS he built in the '90s. That was around 2002-2003 and then Dad was not building Model Cars actively. When I had been building for a couple of years and only Old School style American Muscle Cars or '50s to '60s Classics, dad got interested in building again and he started to build '62 Impala Super Stocker as it raced in the '60s. Then he has built many models after that one, and so do I too. Then my Little sister, 12 years old told that she'd like to build something too. We picked Revell's '60 Impala to her, the new California Wheels kit. Right away she told us that she would never use those big inch wheels or other modern parts from the kit. This shows that it is not always necessary to try to get new generations in the hobby even if they are not interested in it. And as for the subjects, in our family we all hate Big inch wheels and those horrible Low Profile Tires. None of us have Never built a Model Car or 1:1 car with any bigger wheels than 15" (And now I mean American Cars, I've built one Lancia Stratos and Porsche 935 that had bigger wheels from the factory!). If they would offer kits with modern engines and other stuff like that, they needed to be 2 In 1 with a possibility to build Stock version also. Otherwise I guess they wouldn't sell good enough.

That's looking great! Keep us posted with the progress, it looks like a cool build. These Old Classics are nice to see being built, even if I've never built anything Pre '49 cars as Stock. Also I like to see other young people building. Whoops...Never thought that, I've been painting in the Garage with really bad ventilation. On Summer I paint outside though (But here the summer isn't that long). Maybe I should try that.

Thanx Tom! Glad to hear this build has inspired you. It is always great to hear or see that people can enjoy my progress and/or finished product.

1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
W-409 replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Wow, now we have 100 Pages of Eye Candy in this thread B) ! Great job again, Chris. The Tin Work looks fantastic, parts fit really nicely together and once painted, I bet I can't see the difference between Real or Model. Great job! -
I agree. What other "Foose-Parts" does this kit have than those horrible wheels and tires? I don't have a single 1/12 Scale Model Car part, and in my bugdet, buying many parts seperately doesn't work. Then, if the kit has no Stock parts, then I'm not going to pay that big bucks on a kit I could never build, since I don't put those horrible modern parts in my cars.

Three More: I also installed Fram Decal to the Oil Filter...

Thanks Alan, the Driveshaft Loop is installed now, but looks like I forgot to take a picture of it... Anyway when the body was dry, I decided to test fit it to chassis, and everything fit really nicely. Then I put the decals on, those Cobra Jet textes are from the kit, others are from my parts box. Now I'll let it dry for a couple of days, and then spray a clear coat on it.

Thanks Gene! These Pontiacs are really nice, just like all other GMs from that era. I'd like to get one more of these some day and make it as a Street Car with body colored Steelies and Dog Dishes.

Yes, Tamiya works fine (Or better, haven't tried to polish it) too. I have painted one car with Tamiya paints, but never have polished Tamiya paints, which is next in line I hope...

Thanx David, I appreciate the kind words!

I have to say also that the wires are...Strange. It would have looked better if it was built without those wires, the best way is (I think) to build a couple of Models straight out of the box before starting to add details or make modifications. This is just a tip, to help you out. I am no expert either. I don't know what age you are, but I have to say that maybe one of the best quotes ever goes "Every Model Built By A Youngster Is A Great Model". I don't know who said it, but that is how I think also. You said you were more interested in Paint Work. That's great, paint job is in my opinion maybe the most critical thing in Model Building, of course in a side of overall finishing and parts fit. Your paint looks very good from the pictures. Just a minor tip to make it even better next time: Sand the Mold lines before painting (Now there's one for example on the Trunk Lid). And this is just an advice to help you out, I'm not trying to be a "Nitpicker" or anything...Just trying to help you out, just like other people have helped me during the years and that's maybe the most important thing why my Modeling Skills have improved. GREAT job for the First Build, congrats!

Nice Catalina! This one inspired me to build my Catalina too in Under Glass. Beautiful Paint Job as always, and nice detail all over. The panel lines are so nice and even too. My favorite is the interior colors, they are excellent and very realistic, not just regular flat blue or turqoise, but they have the "Metallic" Paint effect on them, and that's something I've rarely seen in Model Cars. Excellent work!!!

Just got this one wrapped up. More pictures behind the link, I posted it Under Glass by mistake... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=74783

building drag strip dioramaS?
W-409 replied to Mrdarkmonkey96's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have wanted to build the DragStrip Starting Line for a long time too. But the problem is, that regular asphalt you see on public roads does look different than the Drag Strip, that has many coats of rubber and the "Track Glue" or what is it called in English?, Anyway I mean the liquid that's used to get better traction. See here: It's more like "Shiny", but then there are those black stripes on the middle and they should be matt finished.
