Thanks Jonathan! It means a lot.

This turned out Great! Very good idea, and when the build-quality is as good as this, I really like it. Nice paint job and excellent bodywork. The engines look good in there, too. Nice job. Can't wait to see what you are building next.

Nice job guys on them all! It seems to be easier to start a new project, than finish old ones. I decided to build NHRA Legal Gasser from Lindberg's '40 Ford Coupe that comes with the kit where is also that Dodge L700-Truck. This will be built to match the 1963 Rules. I started from the chassis....At first I thought this is going to be a bit easier project, but the chassis showed immediately, that it won't. Lindberg has molded the Exhaus pipe to the chassis, and it can't be removed without making damage to the floor pans. So I decided to cut the Floor away. After that I started cleaning the frame, but there is still a lot more work to do with it. Engine will be Oldsmobile 394 Cid V8 that was produced from 1959 to 1964. It will have A Blower to make this Ford bit faster. With that engine combination, it will go to A/GS.

There are ready Photo Etch detail kits for carburetors. Mostly they are for Holley carbs. Many of my builds have Rochester Quadrajet, since I build alot of those Stock Eliminator Drag Cars, so there are no Detail kits available. Drill the carburetor throats open and add Fuel Lines just as the Reference pics say. The carburetor linkage can be scratchbuilt, too. Also I bought just a pair of decent looking Carter AFB carburetors. Can't remember the Manufacturer, though but they were Resin. Few Carburetors of mine.

Nice work! Olds Gasser is on my "To Build-List" too. The body style is excellent and the Gasser style really fits to this one. Nice and Shiny paint job and excellent detailing in the Engine Bay. Great job.

Wow that is Cool! I have been missing your projects, glad to see one rolling again. And the subject couldn't be much better. I like the FlipNose a lot, nice job with the steering too.

1,183hp 2013 Shelby GT500 S/C
W-409 replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Haha, why would you buy a Bugatti Veyron since now you can get something a bit more powerful straight from the factory. It looks much better than that Bugatti does, too. If I had the money, I'd get one right away. -
Thanks a lot guys! The kind words are really appreciated. Kevin: The Air Cleaner is one of my favorite parts, too. It turned out better than I originally thought. Michael: Yeah, I wanted to keep those narrow tires, they just fit nicely to this kind of Road Racer. And for the wheel size, I Never put bigger wheels than 15" on these Classic Cars, just like my signature says. Now back to the '65 Rachero.

International builders community question
W-409 replied to gtx6970's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well here in Finland we have pretty good amount of Hobby Shops and other Dealers. I live in Vantaa, which is very close to our Capital Helsinki, where are at least Four Hobby Shops. One has airplanes and other Military stuff, but it is possible to find cars in the rest of them. Especially TietoNikkari has a lot of car models on their stash. And it is possible to buy Evergreen and other styrenes and plastic rods etc from those shops, as well as BMF, Revell & Humbroll Paints etc. Then we have a few online dealers, and one of them sells of course model kits, but also a lot of Aftermarket stuff, parts, resins and Photo Etch sets etc. I have bought a lot of stuff from these Dealers, and there are more of them too. And we mostly have American Cars in here. Also private sellers have great kits and parts for sale. The rarest or the newest items need to be ordered from the US, but otherwise it's possible to find treasures from Finland, too. Oh and about the prices....They are a bit more expensive here, of course, but mainly new kits are from 25 to 30€. -
Very nicely done Camaro! I really like the paint work and the overall detailing on this. Especially I like the hood with that Cowl Induction scoop. Really nice job all over. The lettering on the tires is done perfectly, too. It is also nice to see these Camaros with 15" Wheels and high profile tires. It looks thousand times better than with those original low profile tires and big wheels. Congrats on very fine build.

WOW! You continue to amaze me with these builds, this was nice to follow, and the Finished product is even better than I thought. Excellent job with it, makes me feel like this GREAT Job!

This was built to 2012 Gumball Rally Community Build. Finished Yesterday. It started out as Monogram's Camaro Glue Bomb. Body needed more work than I originally thought, so that's why it took so long. But overall it was a lot of fun. My plan was to keep the body as Black as possible, since then it could be harder to see in the Night time. Interior is red, only added parts are the Scratchbuilt Shifter and Register plates, so Polices would be having hard time finding this car. Engine is Chevy 302 with Cross Ram intake and some added details. See more detailed information about this build from the link: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=51560&p=591065 More...

The Final Update before Under Glass. I got the body and chassis together, they fit nicely and needed just a little glue. The Grille is installed, too. Now there is left only few parts, like the Mirrors, Door Handles, Register Plate, a few Wires and then it's done. Hood is polished now, too.
-
I painted the Window Trims Flat Black and body from downside is Flat Black too. Then I installed the Windows, put few License Plates to the interior so they can be changed during the Rally so Polices will be having hard time finding this car. Then I put the Interior and Body together. Now I need to add few parts and minor details, then body and chassis together and the Final update before Under Glass.

This turned out Fantastic, John! It was so much fun to watch this build come together, you did excellent job with it, especially the body mods are done very cleanly. Nice paint job too, and the detailing is incredible. I have Never seen before text-decals on 1/25 Scale Spark Plug Wires. You did it a justice, VERY nice build.

This build is really fun to watch, you are doing very fine work! I really like the body color too, it fits perfectly to this kind of car. I guess I should start my entry for this year's Cannonball too... And nice Vega. I'm a huge fan of GM H-Bodies. We had '79 Skyhawk, but it was sold last year since we needed some cash for the new Chevelle-project. That was really fun car, too.

Glue/Cement , and body filler question
W-409 replied to CrazyGirl's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Personally I like tho use Super Glue for almost everything, but when I'm scratchbuilding parts or doing some modifications to plastic where's no paint, I like to use Tamiya's, Model Masters' or Plastruct's Liquid glues. They make very strong "welds". Then I use Revell and Humbroll glues sometimes, and white Glue for windows, small chrome parts etc. For filler, I like to use Two Part Bondo that's used on 1:1 cars when I'm doing bigger modifications, but for smaller ones I think Green Putty and White Putty work really nicely. It's made by Squadron. It is very easy to sand and it works nicely with smaller modifications. Or then I use Automotive Filler Spray. There are many different makes and manufacturers, and they might be different in here than what you have there. I bet there are many more, but I have managed with these. Hope This Helps. -
I got the Camaro polished this Morning. It looks pretty good I guess. Still needs to polish the Hood and paint window trims Flat Black, paint body from down side and then put the glasses in. My goal is to have the body and chassis together Tomorrow.

'85 GMC Van .. Fotki update 7/8/17
W-409 replied to Foxer's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
This turned out fantastic. It was really nice to watch it come together, and you nailed the look. The rust holes, those black spots on the Drivers' side and everything else seems to be just there. This would make good Real Or Model. -
Do these carbs look right?
W-409 replied to Bluemiles22's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
But TriPower was not available for 409 Engine. Only 348 had that setup from the Factory. I have a set of Resin Carter AFB Carbs, and they are nice. Just can't remember who made them. But with some extra detailing, the carburetors from that Bel Air kit can be made useable. -
Wendell Scott '69 Torino
W-409 replied to Scottnkat's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
Nice Torino! Perfect paint job and excellent detailing, too. I really like the tire textes, very clean job with them. Great decals on it, too. I like these Vintage NASCARS, and actually I'm going to start building one of this year's Torinos soon. -
Cool build Ira, as always! I really like the way it turned out, and enjoyed the WIP thread too. Excellent paint and nice bodywork. You always make me smile with these builds, and this one is no exception. Very nice, I wish I could see this one on person.
