37/38 Ford

Nice! Great to see Old School style rides from your bench too. This has the correct look and feel, nice color combo on the body and wheels, they fit very nicely together. Nice shiny paint job also, and beautiful details. -
Thanks guys, you are too kind. Darryl: I'd be happy if I could get at least one build completed without big breaks when the model is just sitting in the box for a few months time. Otherwise I like the style I build. Dave: Yeah, those straps turned out better than I thought. Usually they need one or two times of repainting before I can be happy with them.

Nice Vintage Stock Car. You did excellent job with it, this is something that should be seen more often. Nice paint and decal work. Perfect finishing over all, thanks for sharing. -
Even if some Race Cars wouldn't be that glossy or shiny, I think it just looks better when the model is shiny or glossy, even if the real deal isn't... It doesn't look so nicely done, if the paint job is just left "As It Is" after the paint and clear coat. I have done this "Wrong" many times, just because it looks like the model is much better quality. Just like my '64 Belvedere in NASCARS Section. I guess the real car was not as shiny as my build is, but it looks better like that, it is VERY hard to make the car look good if it has Dullcoat or something on it, In My Opinion of course. But I will say this again: I know the Drag Cars better than any else Race Cars... They are usually very nicely finished, at least here in Finland. They are like Show Quality. And I guess it's the same thing in the USA. Of course not all of them, but some of them are very nicely done, and that's what I'm shooting for when I'm building. We had American Car Show here in Finland a couple of weeks ago, and there were Drag Cars and regular "Show Cars". The Drag Cars were just as nicely finished as the Show cars. The paint jobs were really smooth and shiny. An Example: That is as nice and shiny as you can get, I think.

If you want to build Street Version of Shelby Cobra, I think the best one is Monogram kit. It comes with an uptop which is optional, and the engine is in Street Condition. The wire wheels in that kit are the best I've seen in this scale, if Photoetch doesn't count. Okay, it's 1/24, but there is IMO absolutely no difference between those two scales. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37691&page=1

It can't get any better than this. Nice stance and perfect wheel choice, I've always liked Body Color Steelies. Very nice job, can't wait to see more, this is great inspiration for my '40 Ford A/GS which will be 1963 NHRA Legal (In The Gasser & AWB CBP). Keep the Eye Candy Rolling.

1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018

WOW!!! Looks like I have to go and catch my jaw, it just dropped on the Floor. Excellent job, Chris. Every time I look at this thread, I'm completely blown away by these updates. You make it look so easy, are you sure it's not 1:1 scale instead of 1:16? -
Colour(ant) my world
W-409 replied to charlie8575's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think it is always the best, when kit is Molded In White. Or then, in some other light color, like Light Grey. But I'm not a fan of Molded In Color-type of things, for example blue, black or red plastic is much harder to paint, since it needs primer and then it takes more time, even if this is not a Speed Competition. Anyway it doesn't matter if the Plastic Color is black or something else, since then it will be primered and painted properly. So it's better when the kit is Molded In White, but if the subject is interesting, I go ahead and buy it whatever the plastic color is. -
Okay, this is just for Drag Cars. Some 1:1 Drag Racers have only decals over the paint, and they should not be cleared, because the real ones are not either. But in all cars I build, the graphics, textes etc are painted on, when they are usually clear coated (Or At least sometimes), when the clear coat and polish is needed. I think it just looks much better when they are cleared and polished. Many Drag Cars are finished very nicely and they are shiny.

This will be interesting to follow, as a fan of GM H-Bodies I've been looking for this kit too. I can't wait to see what you do for it.

That turned out cool! Nice paint and excellent color. The decals fit perfectly to this one also, and that Six Cylinder Engine is nice & Different choice. Great Job.
-
This has really that '80s Pro Street vibe with those painted bumbers and blue wheels. Usually I wouldn't be a fan of them, but for this one they fit perfectly. Nice paint job too, Shiny! Great Job.

Thanks guys for the kind words! The Resin Caster doesn't have a Website, and those Frontrunners are not sold publicly. At least for now. But yes, they are top notch quality!

I've been following this one and I'm really amazed every time you post an update. The detail work is incredible, that engine looks just like real one. Excellent job.

Nice work everyone! This year is going to be even better than last year was I believe. I'm trying to hang up with you guys, but my quality is not as good as yours. Anyway I got the Roll Cage pretty much together. It needs a few more tubes, and then I can paint it. And I must cut a little material from the Dashboard to make the cage fit, as some of the 1:1 cars.

Well I got the Torino back on Four Wheels. As you can see from the pictures, it needs Driveshaft Loop, some Steering Parts for the front, Fuel Lines need to be connected etc. But it's coming along.

Excellent conversion! It's nice to see these Biscaynes and other "Poor" Model Chevrolets being built also. Nice job with the rear end, I guess that conversion would be too hard for me. Did you make the top higher? To me it looks like Chopped, since Biscayne and Impala had different tops. But I guess I wouldn't have done it any better, so Big Thumbs Up!

Thanks guys for the kind comments! My '69 Petty Torino took One Step forward, when I opened the box, but then Two Steps back. The Front Fenders are warped, just like the car had jumped and landed on its nose. Well all it needs is some hot water to bend those fenders back on their original shape. But....The work with Jo-Han '72 Torino Oval Tracker has continued. Funny thing, the Torino was sold as 1960s Model Kit, even if the car is 1972.

That's very nice, especially for your first one! The Faded Paint Job turned out fantastic, I have never tried it, but it can't be easy to do. I like the look of it without the Scoop on the hood, looks "Not So Professional" Drag Car. Minor thing - it is not Pro Street. Pro Street is a car that can be driven on the street, but this one has Racing tires, Engine and full Tube chassis. So it's more like Pro Sportsman, as the box says.

Beautiful Box Stock build, this kit is one of those AMT Fords I want to build some day too, and your build shows that it can be built excellent! Fantastic paint job, as always in your builds and perfect overall finishing too. Even if I don't build much these Factory Stock cars, I do like to see them being built, especially when they are as nice as this one.

Lucky you, we just got more Snow. With that amount of snow we have, it will take a while to melt, even if a lot of snow has Melted already... Well that makes more time to build our car Race Ready before the FHRA Drag Racing Season starts.

Has anyone seen him lately, or heard anything? I hope all is well. I miss his Wild builds a lot. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?s=1cf42a2d30e6c3a89b8c68f97d61d0bc&showuser=4698

Daytona Charger/Plymouth Superbird
W-409 replied to madisonwoodsmith's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
What is the problem with AMT kit? I have it (Got it cheap, had to buy ), and the parts look pretty good to my eye. I'm just asking, so I can be careful if there are some "Trouble Spots" on the kit. -
I was able to get it on Four Wheels Yesterday. Everything was fitting nicely and it looked pretty good, until I test fitted the body on place, and realized that the Rear Tires don't fit inside the body. They were close, but no. So then I had to take the rear tires off, and I will be sanding those wheels from backside a bit, since they are just a little wider than kit wheels were, and then I will sand those inner wheels/Brake parts or whatever they are, so the tires would fit inside the body. This means that I have to do the same thing for the front too, because otherwise the measure from tire to tire would be wider in Front than rear. If I can get these things done by tomorrow, I will post some more pictures. Actually now I have already done the sanding for the front tires, and the rears are coming next. But then the assembly will take some more time again, and maybe tomorrow everything is dried, so I can move the chassis to the "Picture Studio".
