  1. If I didn't know that the chassis is scratchbuilt, I would swear that it's from a kit. You did fantastic job with it, same thing with the body-it's looking excellent. I really like what you did with the grille. This is one of the threads I come back to see many times a day, it's just so nice to see how styrene bends in your hands. I can't wait to see more.
  2. Some of AMT kits are excellent, some of them are not so excellent. I have built a few Muscle Car kits myself, and then I've seen pictures of others or then I've seen what's inside the box at my friend's place. '66 Oldsmobile 442 W30 '67 Impala SS '71 Plymouth Duster '66 Nova '67 Chevrolet Chevelle (Both, AMT and Revell have good kits of this car). '70 Camaro Baldvin Motion '66 Fairlane 427 And then there are some kits that could be like "Muscle Before A Muscle Car"... '62 Catalina '62 Bel Air Bubbletop
  3. It's '59 Simca Vedette Gasser. Resin body made by Air Trax with Miss Deal Studebaker chassis. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=65034
  4. Thanks Dave! It's always nice to have some people who like seeing my builds. I have been busy this week, and have not had time to update this thread. But I have managed to finish the Carburetor detailing. I scratchbuilt the Carburetor Linkage, which actually needs return spring yet and one linkage to the firewall, but I will add those when the engine is installed. Also I got the spark plug wires on. Fuel line is made from different materials, not perfect but since it will be covered with the air hose-system, I think it's good enough. Also I mocked up the Front Wheels to the tires. They look much better now since the Chrome plating has some flat clear on it.
  5. Where did you get those Eddie Meyer parts to Flathead? Who makes them? I saw them somewhere few years ago, but did not buy them and never seen them anymore. I should have bought the set back then. Really nice work with it so far. I like seeing Traditional cars being built.
  6. They are really easy to build from solder. Only those collectors are causing me trouble, but the Headers turned out okay on this one. First I drilled holes for the Headers, glued solder there and after that I just started to bend them.
  7. I'm thinking if I should buy this '73 Chevelle too, not sure yet though. The '79-'81 Chevy Malibu would interest me too, so I'm thinking which one I should buy... Well when the '74 comes out, then I got to get few of them! A question: How will these be available? I mean that once they got sold out at some point (I guess they will do), will there be more or is it just one run?
  8. They are available, but I don't know who makes them. Here's a quote from Randy Ayers' NASCAR Modeling Forum: This is Hayden Proffitt's 62 Chevy. A big thanks needs to go to Charlie Kroll for informing me that the kit decals were not accurate and for picking me up a set of good decals in Toledo this past year.
  9. Absolutely Fantastic Oldsmobile Custom, I'm not surpised of your First Place! Color combo works great on this one and I really like the way hood, Trunk and doors open, really nice job. Nice job with the Chop Top, too. Nice and smooth build.
  10. Oh, yes of course Revell makes '66 Chevelle kit. How didn't I remember that? Nice build anyway!
  11. Very nice Chevelle Wagon! There can Never be enough Stockers or Super Stockers... This one looks really good to me, paint and overall finishing is incredible. Who makes this Resin body by the way? I'd like to build something like this '66 Chevy Stocker what was running P/SA here in Finland before it was sold to Sweden.
  12. I don't know if them all would sell very well, but especially that Copper Kart and the HotRod would be really cool kits (New Tooling & Full Detail). They could be used as parts kits as well I guess.
  13. Cool Project! It'd look cool with TwinTurbo setup, and then we would have a challenger for Larry Larson with his Chevy Nova. It looks really good so far.
  14. Here are some cars I'd like to see from George Barris: ' Okay I don't like the grille on the next one, but otherwise it's really cool.
  15. Who makes '78 Malibu in Resin?! I really want one of those.
  16. I'll be watching this one very closely. X-Frame Chevrolets are always nice to see, and I like Gassers, too. Can't wait to see more progress, the stance looks excellent to me and I really like the 1:1 car, too.
  17. He does really nice job, I mean that he builds cleanly and cars are very nicely finished, they can win trophies in shows and whatever. But I'm not a fan of Chip Foose or Boyd Coddincton or any other builder who install those huge wheels with low profile tires on a car, or modern engines... In those pics you posted, I'd still prefer the "Before"-car. It's a shame that Revell didn't make kits with George Barris, John D Agostino or Gene Winfield, instead of Chip Foose. This is just my opinion, so....
  18. Nicely done Cyclone. I really like the look of this car, it's really Agressive, especially with the yellow color. You did outstanding job with this one, very nice engine detailing and paint job. The overall look is excellent, too.
  19. 1. '74 Chevrolet Chevelle 2. '60 Chevrolet Impala 3. '63 Chevrolet Impala Z11 Mystery Motor.

    Thunderbolts

Nice builds! I like seeing these old Drag Cars and you nailed the look on these. Especially I like the Aluminium front bumbers instead of chromed bumbers. How did you make those Mesh-parts to the grille? They look really good and I've been thinking about how I should replicate them on my build.
  21. Glad it helped, there were 49 cars built with Manual Transmission and 51 with Automatic, if I remember correct. I'm always interested in these Vintage Drag Car builds and I'm looking forward to the progress. No laughing from me, I'm not a professional builder either .
  22. Real Ford Thunderbolt Drag Cars did have only driver's side Windshield wiper, the other one was removed as a weight saving method. See here: Also the front bumber seems to be Aluminium, not chromed. I guess it could be replicated by spraying some Flat clear/Dullcoat over the bumber. I'm currently building one Thunderbolt, too and so far it is really great kit. Mine is the reissue, though. I'll be watching!
  23. Thanks, John! It is true that engine can be painted any color the builder wants. I've always liked red engine blocks, so the choice was pretty obvious. Looks like I'm posting an update before Mika posts his. I started working on Carburetor area. Carburetors are painted lightly so they look more realistic than chromed carburetors would have looked. Then I started the carburetor linkage. First tubing is on its place, still a lot more to go. Once the Linkage is done, I can make the Fuel Lines and then install Spark Plug Wires. The alternator was painted with the same method as the Carbs were, and I installed whole pulley and belt system on. Also I took Fuel Pump from Revell '69 Corvette which will be SS/B Super Stocker. I started the chassis work, too. I removed textes from the chassis, but then they could still be seen after primering. That's what I was afraid of, but now I have put some putty to fix the problem. I sprayed a Dullcoat to the front wheels, too. I think they look much better now.
  24. Now when Mika's '57 Chevy is Finished, We decided to build 1964 Super Stock racers. This time they are not team mates like before (We built pair of '62 Catalina SuperStockers last year) but they are enemies to each others. I'm building '64 Ford Thunderbolt and Mika is building '64 Dodge 330 (The Color Me Gone version). Both builds will be built the way they could have raced in '64. My Thunderbolt build started from Revell Streetburner kit I won at local Model Car Show. It is really nice kit, lots of parts and they are really nicely molded. I started by looking at some reference material from the books: Then it was time to start building. The kit doesn't have Roll Bar or Roll Cage at all, so I decided to make one. Because I didn't have enough styrene tubing to make whole roll bar from scratch, I had to use one Roll Bar from my Parts box as a basis. It is bit lowered now. But since I found new styrene tubing, now I will scratchbuild whole roll cage, it'll be better than the one I already started hacking. The engine is painted Gloss Red, Manual Transmission is silver. Only minor clean up was needed after I installed the block halves together, the fitment was really good. I decided to remove the chrome plating on the Intake Manifold, then I painted it aluminium. I started some assembling too, this is how it is now. Rear wheels and tires are completed too, the tires were sanded with Dremel and sandpaper to make them look bit used. Wheels are from the kit, I just painted the details on them with different colors. Tire decals are from my parts box. I decided to use the Steelies for rear, it just looks right to me. Mika will post few pictures soon....Stay Tuned.
  25. Little update for the engine of my '58 Chevy Sedan Delivery. I got the carburetors installed. They are from my parts box, Air Cleaners are from Revell '69 Nova and they need some Black Washing before I can call them done. Also started the Fuel Lines, still needs to make one fitting to the Water Pump so I can connect the lines there, too.
