Since the Hudson is Finished and posted to Under Glass (http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=70023), I decided to take the Impala back on the bench. I installed the Battery Cable to starter, and after that painted the driveshaft joints and installed the whole engine to Frame. It's gettin' there, only shocks to add and then all brake lines etc and the Chassis is done.

Wow... You just made me speechless.

Your paint jobs are always incredible! Just like this one, how many hours you spend polishing it? Or do you have any specific techniques, or do you "Just Polish"? Very nice.
-
This looks very good! Nice color choice and excellent engine detailing. It's also nice to see these Topolinos being built as Street Cars, even if I really like those Altereds. Really like this one.

Thanks guys for the kind words! Matti: Yes, I'd like to see a Hudson from your bench. I'm sure it would turn out fantastic. Harry: I've always wanted to hear critique too. Positive comments are nice to hear, but critique is what makes me doing things different next time. The next build from my bench will possibly be a Drag Car, or Stock Car from '50s or '60s... I'm planning also to start the Fabulous Hudson Hornet Stock Car soon. John: It's really worth buying. The boxart is already very nice, and once the box is opened, all of the parts are really nice quality, especially the chrome parts are great. Instructions are the best I have seen, too.

Okay, I think I just bought the basis for this Community Build.... A '58 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery. Previous owner has already started and converted AMT '66 Nova Pro Street chassis to fit under this body. It is little wider than the original, the front frame is stretched and rear too. It needs some putty, but otherwise it is going to stay like it is now. The engine will be 409 of course, with Cragar Blower.

The Hornet's Nest: Hudson Hornet Build Madness!
W-409 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Thanks Chuck! How many Hudsons you've already built? There are so many that I can't remember. I mean that it's really nice to see a lot of these nice Hudsons being built, especially with a talented builder like you. BTW: Just in case someone did not see the UnderGlass post already, here's the link on my Hudson: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=70023 -
Cool build. I'm really looking forward for more updates to come. Bodywork looks excellent so far, and I like the chassis too. Your building skills just keep me amazed.

Hey, that's like our Simcas, isn't it? Very interesting project, I will be following this one for sure. A bit boring car (at least in 1:1 scale) turns out really interesting with V8. It's also nice to see that you managed not to start a Pro Touring build. Just kidding. The engine looks very good to me, and the engine bay is really small. Mechanics will have hard time when doing repair work to engine in the races. Keep going.

This is Art! The chassis is coming together, and it really looks like you are building Full Scale chassis for a real car. Wow. This makes me back to the bench to build those Glue Bombs. Fantastic work, keep it going.

Wow thanks for all of those great comments! Harry, Charlie and Chuck who mentioned the hood. Yes, it doesn't fit right. I should have sanded it a bit before painting, it had tight fit to match the body shapes, and after paint and few clear coats, it doesn't fit anymore. Oh well luckily this is displayed the hood open. And you are correct about the BMF too, I had new sheet of BMF and new blade, but I don't know what was the problem with them. Somehow I couldn't do better on this one, even if I've done better jobs with BMF before. Thanks again for the great comments to everyone, and especially thanks for the critique. It's really needed when trying to get better as a Modeler. Edit: Oh and Jim, your builds are always very nice, I can't wait to see what you do with the Hudson. At least I guess it will be Shiny, which is always great. Looking forward of seeing Geoff's build, too.

What A Paint Job! WOW!!! It looks like Glass Finish to me, simply outstanding. Not only the paint is spectacular, the whole car looks Very good to me. You did excellent job again, thanks for sharing this one.

Thanx For Lookin'!

Just finished my First build for 2013, A Hudson Hornet! Moebius Models' kit is really excellent quality, and I enjoyed building this one a lot. It's built Factory stock, painted and clearcoated with Spray cans and then I polished the paint job to make it shine. Well, overall it turned out Okay, could be better, but this is the best I could do. Tell me what you think and give all kinds of feedback: Good or Bad. WIP Pictures can be found from Community Builds Section from Hudson Hornet Build Madness Topic.

The Hornet's Nest: Hudson Hornet Build Madness!
W-409 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Alright, I managed to get this one done for the Model Car Show. Here are the rest WIP Pictures. I Foiled the body, and I really have to say that it was huge job to do, and not very easy either. The End Result is not perfect, but Good Enough for me. Then I installed the rear windows. The windshield fitted nicely, but I had problems with the rear window. But finally I got it installed nicely, and the body looked like this. The body and chassis fitted really nicely together, and after some engine detailing and installing few chrome parts, it was almost done... Here is the End-Result in the Show. I will post pics to Under Glass, I'll add the link in here too. Now starting the Fabulous Hudson Hornet Stock Car! -
This is very Cool. I like the paint on it, and engine details look sharp. Especially that text on the belt caught my eyes. Very nice and clean build.

The huge gap between the Door Line and body makes me say Model... But when I say Model, it's possibly Real.

http://cs.scaleautomag.com/sca/modeling_subjects/f/30/t/41879.aspx There is one set... Looks like it's rare, but I don't know if Air Trax has those (Finnish Resin Company by Juha Airio and Tapani Rauramo) on their shelves. AirTrax bodies are really nice quality, but bit pricey. Still they are worth buying.

I agree with 1320Wayne on this. Most of my builds are in the Drag Section, and there are other great builds updated almost daily, easy to follow and alot of fun to follow. If all Motorsport categories will be put together, well, there will be a lot of Drag builds, but they are not as easy to follow as they are now. I think it should be left as it is, If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It. But..... I do agree with Harry, too. I don't understand why Drag Racing Models and NASCARS have own specific sections. Of course it's good for me and other Drag/NASCAR Builders, though. -
Wow this is looking excellent so far. You nailed the wheel and tire choice. Especially I like the Hoosier textes on the tires, and the way they fill those fender wells. Where are those tire decals from? I've seen one set in '69 Nova by Revell, but just wondering if there is another source for them. Keep it going, I will keep an close eye of this one.

Thanks for the positive comments guys! They really keep me going. I had to put this one as a Back Burner for now, since I'm finishing The '53 Hudson Hornet for Model Car Show on January 26th. The Hudson can be seen in CBP section (The Hornet's Nest: Hudson Hornet Build Madness- topic). Once that is done, I will attack to this one again with full attention. I have sanded the seat smooth, though. Or at least pretty smooth, it needs some more putty before paint. Hope to have more soon.

The Hornet's Nest: Hudson Hornet Build Madness!
W-409 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Thanx Doctor! My plan is to get this one finished next week, there's a Model Car Show on Saturday, so that's my plan. I finally got the body polished and it turned out very good. It looks better in person, though. Somehow didn't manage to take any better pictures, but I hope you get the idea. Next I have to remove some wax from it (White in the door lines, grooves etc.). Then it's time to start another "NightMare"- BMF! -
Heh, thanx James. The kit offers decals to the Fan Belt, two decals for the Generator, one for the Oil Breather Tube (can't be seen in that picture) and the Valve Cover Decals. It really is excellent kit. Of course it's very fun to build, too because of the parts count and nicely molded parts.

Nicest Drag Rims? Where to go?
W-409 replied to adabiri2's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Monogram STP Firebird has Weld Draglite Wheels. They are much different than those in the picture. I don't know where those are from, but there are tons of Centerline-type wheels in many kits, wide and narrow and something from the between. -
Thanks A Lot Bernard, Doctor and Matti! I got to say those wheels and tires turned out very good. Have to thank Revell, who made excellent kit of this car. And sorry for the delay on this. I have been really busy in school, and the time I've had, we have been in Garage building the 1:1 Chevelle. Yesterday I managed to get something done, though. Started the seat belts, installed them to the Roll Bar. I'm very glad to see Revell Made a Roll Bar with cross member where the seat belts can be installed. I'm still planning if I have to make one Roll Bar on the side of that bench seat, then it would be NHRA correct, but since it's '60s style Super Stocker, I'm still not sure about it. We'll see... The Seat is just Mocked Up.
