  1. Very Nice! I've seen one of these in person, and after that I appreciate your work even more. It's not easy to convert a Promo to this nice model! Like the look of those wheels and tires on this one, those match perfectly with the paint and engine choice. Overall fantastic build, only those headlights would be bit more realistic since now they look chromed to me, but that's very small thing.
  2. Pro Street CBP. Pro Stock is completely different, as they are Professional Class Race Cars with very tight rules. Anyway this looks excellent to me. Nice engine detailing, looks like real engine coming together. I really like the colors and paint job too. Can't wait to see more of this.
  3. Cool! Makes me motivated to get back to mine....Yes, I'm building '29 Ford Pickup Gasser too. I like the engine details, and primer really fits to Old School style Drag Car. Looks good.
  4. That's very nice looking Hemi Dart. Paint job is fantastic, so smooth and shiny. I like the engine details too, and the slight weathering even if I usually don't like it, but this just fits to my eye perfectly. Very nice build.
  5. Hey guys, wait for me . I have one '41 Plymouth Gasser in the works now. Your build looks excellent so far. I like the stance alot. Nice paint and decals, too and I like the wheel choice. Maybe making the rear fender openings of the body bit larger would look better so rear axle could be bit wider? Otherwise it looks excellent.
  6. Very nice color, and fantastic paint job! I bet this will be great quality build once finished, since you do excellent work with every build. But those wheels just don't fit with this body at all, it needs 15" wheels with narrow white wall tires. Oh well, actually I think every single car can't have any bigger wheels than 15" (Including new Camaro, Challenger etc.), so...... .
  7. The engines are the same I believe. My dad has that Dave Strickler's Old Reliable '62 Chevy Super Stocker, but I don't have any experience of the Hayden Proffit's Super Stocker. But since the manufacturer is the same, I believe that there are no differences. Revell's new '62 Impala has different looking Super Stock Engine, but both are 60s style. If you are planning to do today's Super Stock engine, you have to do some modifications to those engines.
  8. For the basic Street Body- I have the AMT kit and it really looks good to me. Correctly shaped and everything. There is some need for putty, sink marks and that kind of stuff need to be smoothed, but otherwise it's nice. It has those Stock parts, too. I'd really like to see Monza Town Coupe as well, but....
  9. I guess it's AMT '62 Chevrolet Bel Air. Never seen any other '62 Bubbletop Model Kits.
  10. Why not? If you use the tires and wheels and the engine from that kit.....Why not to use the frame too? Of course it don't fit to a Funny Car which has 1:1 car to replicate, but a car that "Could Have Raced" could be built well with the Hustler's frame. Or at least I could do it.
  11. Wow, I will be watching VERY closely, interesting to see progress. This is absolutely another Nader's Nightmare! (Yes, Haven't forgotten Dave G.'s Naders Nightmare).
  12. As mentioned above, Miss Deal Studebaker is great chassis, engine, suspension etc. donor-kit. Basically everything except the body can be used well with other body, too. I built the '59 Simca Gasser, I've seen it also under couple of Impalas, Fairlanes, Chargers etc. Another one is either Revell's '67 Chevelle (The California Wheels release) where you can get the stock taillight panel for the Pro Street kit, or then just the Pro Street kit for the engine, interior and chassis to fit inside the stock body. Revell Pro Sportsman '55 and '57 Chevrolets (And of course other tube frame Drag Cars like the Jukebox Ford, Christine ProMod, Pro Stock kits........), their chassis and drivetrain is nice to fit under another body to make unique Drag Racer... Revell's Chi Town Hustler is also great for wheels and tires, especially the wheels are excellent. Of course the engine and frame can be used, too. ...And there are so many more.
  13. And then I moved on to the engine. Here you can see two Nightmare parts, the kit offers. 1. Fan Belt. It's way too thick, and the alternator belt pulley looks really small. I cut those two pulleys seperate, I will find one for the alternator and make the belt myself. 2. Alternator. Well, what can I say?! Look At It!!! Looks like carburetor to me. Needless to say, I'm not gonna use it. And then I modified the Water Pump to fit well with that engine, it's not floating model anymore.
  14. Bodywork time. I filled the gap between the Choo Choo Customs Monte Carlo-style nose and rest of the body with styrene and putty. Also I decided to remove the holes what are next to the windshield wipers. They are meant for the tabs what are located underside the hood. I removed them from the hood, so I filled the holes with styrene. After some putty, I decided to primer the body....... ...After primer, it looks like there's some sanding still needed, but not too much. Since the nose is not molded to body in real car, I mean that there are seams between it and the body, I will just sand a little those puttys, and then I will shoot another coat of primer and paint.
  15. Thanks Tony and Sam! And the main problem is that my fingers are in trouble sometimes when I'm doing this. They just seem to be too big and it takes many tries, but usually the end result is Okay. And if not, I try again.
  16. Hey Alan- How did you make the collectors for those? They look excellent, but I had no luck making them, I've scratchbuilt many headers, though but they all need good collectors.
  17. That's very nice build. That Challenger kit is on my "Wanted-list", you have done excellent job with it. I really like how those decals look on it, always been a fan of Ramchargers cars. They just look so good.
  18. Me too! If I didn't know they were decals, I would be sure that Joe had used somekind of mini-welding machine. The oil system looks excellent to me, just like in 1:1 cars! This is absolutely inspiring build, keeps me going. Thanks for sharing it.
  19. I'm with William, but I will post some of them. 1. Ford Torino E/Stock Eliminator http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=53899 . 2. Chi Town Hustler http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=39369 . 3. '87 Buick Grand National G/SA http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=65324 . 4. '86 El Camino for the Nightmare Kits CBP. 5. '66 Mustang Pro Modified http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=63994 . 6. '57 Chevy Super Pro Street http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=57331 . 7. '66 Dodge L700 With long Flatbead Trailer. 8. '40 Ford Coupe Street Rod. 9.Chevy Beretta Bracket Car http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=51207 . 10. Sleeper Chevelle http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=55959 11. '61 Impala Super Stocker 12. '62 Impala '60s Style Stocker. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=68400 ....And so many more, probably over 50 in the works.
  20. As said earlier, I don't buy kits if I plan not to build them. Well actually I don't have any ultra rare kits on my stash, only a few Jo-Hans (the rarest is maybe the '60 Dodge Phoenix promo), I'm planning to build them all, but otherwise I don't have any that rare kits. Building old & rare model kit could be compared to building 1:1 '32 Ford from original sheet metal body and period correct Hot Rodding parts and not using modern NOS parts or something. I think I'm a Model Car Builder, not a Collector.
  21. Thanx Jeff! These Stockers are really fun to build, if you decide to build one, post some pics.
  22. Looking Good so far Jeff! You are true artist, the body has changed alot from the start and you have done huge modifications to create beautiful ProMod body. I'd like to try too, but maybe it would end up as a pile of junk plastic.
  23. Looks good, Rob! Primer wouldn't be bad choice for it either, it looks excellent. Here are some pics of my Plymouth. The kit is AMT/Matchbox productions, and I bought it some time ago with decent price. Engine is Chevy Big Block, but it needs some more work, I'm planning to change the Blower hat/ Injector and doing some cleaning.
  24. Since we are heading to the evening of January 1st, here's my progress with the MPC '86 Camino: I scratchbuilt a throttle linkage. Carburetor is from parts box, and for the linkage I used sheet aluminium and some metal wire. Also started the bodywork, and holy cow there's a lot of it! There's flash everywhere. Once I got it cleaned up a bit, I decided to glue that Monte Carlo nose on. It didn't fit nicely either, see the last pic and there's the gap what needs to be filled. A lot of sanding still to do before first coat of primer or filler spray. If you look at this picture closely, you can see that the Water Pump is floating. I must do something for it.
  25. Thanks Bill and Brad! And yeah, once I get 409 on the bench I have to try to do it a justice. I got the body painted today. It's Maston's Gloss white, paint turned out quite good, it's hard to photograph though. It is more shiny in person. I will try to get decals on in couple of days once the paint has dried. I'd like to wish Happy New Year To All Of You Modelers!
