Wow, this is really beautiful! Really great looking Corvair, that paintjob looks very good to me and I like that color. Golden stripe is great. I like what I can see from that engine too. Is it possible to get a picture about that project basis? And I'm starting my '32 Ford for Rock 'n' Roll CBP today.

Watson Tribute '59 Thunderbird: 2/20/12 Update - Interior & Clear!
W-409 replied to John Goschke's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Love that kind of paintjobs! I wish, I could do something like that too. Maybe I must try some day. Cool looking paint and really interesting project. I haven't seen '58-'60 Thunderbirds too often on the bench. -
Thanks, everyone! It has been a little break with this, but maybe I'll continue this build soon. I also have new Ranchero kit, I'm building. But I must give some attention to Falcon too. Maybe I should try gluing that rear frame on the chassis...

Wow, great job with that detailing. It looks like 1:1 car to me, very nice. Pro Sportsman Bel Airs are not my absolute favorites in this scale, but when they are built as nicely as this, they are really amazing.

The Hornet's Nest: Hudson Hornet Build Madness!
W-409 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Little update. I continued assembling the engine. Installed spark plug wires too. There were no problems with the parts fittings, only problem was, that my Super glue bottle got empty. It was bit hard to glue small parts with Revell liquid cement, which takes forever to dry. But I think, engine looks pretty good now. Also painted that interior floor with Dark Gray. Other interior parts are still unpainted, let's look again tomorrow. -
The Hornet's Nest: Hudson Hornet Build Madness!
W-409 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Ok, I tested some interior colors... I tried Humbroll Matt 67 and Revell Matt 77 as Dark Gray. I ended up as a result, where I'm going to use Revell paint, because it's bit easier to paint, and looks better. I tried Humbroll Met 56 as Medium Gray, it works fine, so I'll be using it. And as Light Gray, I will use Revell's Matt 5. Here's one picture about those paints tested on styrene sheet. I had to write, what those paints are to the picture, so it's easier to look, what color is Medium or Light etc... -
The Hornet's Nest: Hudson Hornet Build Madness!
W-409 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Ok, thanks for the information. Needs to paint that right now, and maybe I can get it installed too, if the paint dries.... I'm not sure about the interior and exterior colors yet, maybe blue and white combo for the exterior... Needs to find out, what's the interior color if the car is white and blue. Edit: Instructions show, that there were gray, tan or Muted Blue interiors. I'm going to paint my interior Gray. Carpet seems to be dark gray, seats front and top parts Medium gray, Seats-Plated inserts are light gray, as the headliner. I think, it'll look good when it's painted like that, and white and blue exterior matches really nicely to gray interior. -
HOW CRAZY ABOUT GASSERS ARE YOU?
W-409 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Gassers are amazing! They just look right. When I joined on this forum, I was thinking that screen name between W-409 and Gasser Madness... Well, I ended up as 409, but Gassers are really great. Here's one example: -

Yes, it's pretty close, luckily. Now before I paint the oil filter, what color it should be in 1:1 car originally? -
Turned out really nice! That is also the first completed build in this CBP, congratulations about it. Great looking paint and decals look good too. Nice details. Really great job with the Hustler.

This is interesting. I haven't been even thinking of making new Mustang Altered Wheelbase. But it looks good, great concept. Interesting to see, how it will look when it's finished.

The Hornet's Nest: Hudson Hornet Build Madness!
W-409 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
I just got started with my Hudson Hornet. After I assembled the engine block halves together, I had to do some filling with putty. I also added some putty on that oil pan. After sanding them, I painted golden engine parts with Revell's enamel. Once it was dry really fast, I painted the gearbox with Humbroll's Metallic 56. I have almost every part of that engine painted now, and started assembling it a bit. These pictures will show, where I am at. Air cleaner parts were painted red. They need still some detailing and more colors too. One more. -
Nice looking build you have there. And looks like your work with BMF is fine, much better than mine. Color is very good too and it's clean build all over. Great to see Impala with 283 SBC too, not always 327 or 409 (even if Four-O-Nine is the coolest engine in the world).

1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
W-409 replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Wow, truly amazing scratchbuilding! This Vega will be just like 1:1 car when it's finished. Those tabs are really great looking, and those Radius Rods are really awesome too. And hey, it's already Saturday, 2 pm. -

When you have the picture open http://public.fotki.com/NostalgicDrag/49-mercury-chop-top/kitti-seuraavana.html <- Like that, click with right button of the mouse, and then show the picture (or what is it in english). Then you are in this point http://images107.fotki.com/v159/photos/4/1674554/8827137/Kittiseuraavana_-vi.jpg. Then you just have to copy the URL and on this forum when you write a post, click "Image" button. It's close of that Link button, that green one. Paste that URL there, and you have a picture. Hope you understood anything of my english... -
Looking good. Interesting subject, new Nascars are something really rarely seen in this scale. Bodywork looks good too. I'll be watching, but where are you going to get decals for it?
-
That's true. It's better to try modifications on paper, than on model kit or 1:1 car. And it's pretty fun too if you can get the car shapes nicely on the paper.

I've been really busy now, but this weekend I might have time for that '32 Ford, maybe Mercury too. I will post pics from the starting point of that Hot Rod today, stay tuned.

The Hornet's Nest: Hudson Hornet Build Madness!
W-409 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Thanks for the information! I think, we don't have Testors paints here in Finland, so maybe I'm going to use an other one. I think, the right sheen is not so important, because bit wrong sheen looks good in finished model anyway, and it's still looking pretty factory stock, I think. -
WOW, looks like it's going to be full detail! Great looking engine, can't wait to see all of those wires and hoses etc. on their final places. Great build all in all, keep going.

1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
W-409 replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
My Vega is fine, and I should continue it soon. I've been bit hurry now and had no time for building because of the school. But now it's four day weekend ahead, so maybe I can get something done for Vega too. -
Ok, thanks for the info, Silken. Now I know, what to do, don't want any problems when everything is painted...
-
Thanks, Billy! I'm pretty happy about the Mustang too, but I can't be happy about the coloring. Marker pens didn't work as I wanted. Now I might draw something again. This week we had exam every day of the week, so I had no time for drawing.

Sounds good, Patrik. Can't wait to see some pictures. Same thing with Mark's progress. Sounds interesting, please keep us posted!

The Hornet's Nest: Hudson Hornet Build Madness!
W-409 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
I'm in! I got one Hornet for birthday present, I'll build it as Factory Stock before building Gasser, Nascar and Custom versions... Here are some pictures, what's in the box. Maybe they are not interesting, because so many does already have this kit, and we've seen pics from the parts, but anyway, posted these on Finnish forum, because there were no pictures. Now I post a link. http://public.fotki.com/NostalgicDrag/53-hudson-hornet/ I'll get started tomorrow, but while waiting, please tell me, what was the correct engine color?
