Nice NASCAR build, and great to see Pizza Hut decals, because I absolutely love those pizzas at Pizza Hut! Nicely done, great paintjob and decals fit nicely. I can't find too big mistakes from it.

Nostalgic Super Stock/Pro Stock Hemi questions.
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Thanks Roger for that link to your Photobucket! Now I know, how to install those ignition wires, thanks. I'm not sure about the ignition wire colors yet-maybe I'll use red... Didn't find many pictures from the web, but your Pro Stock album helped a lot: -
Nostalgic Super Stock/Pro Stock Hemi questions.
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Forgot to ask about the ignition wiring of this engine. Since I don't know, how to install spark plug wires for this, because there are 16 wires, not 8 as usually... If anyone has picture or any other information, please let me know and post them here... -
Nostalgic Super Stock/Pro Stock Hemi questions.
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
It would be great to have these available in Resin. When I cast them, quality is not so great, they need some bondo and sanding before paint, but I'm just learning. Only bad thing is, that if you start casting these, shipping costs too much, maybe more than that product does.... -
Nostalgic Super Stock/Pro Stock Hemi questions.
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I just realized, that needs to take few resin copies from those valve covers. I haven't seen them in any other kits, but this has them. If I cast one pair of them, I can use those as masters for next set, and then I'll be able to glue original ones already on their place. I Might cast that oil pan too, but not sure about that yet. -
I voted real, just because I might see a driver inside? And exhaust brackets are nice, and all of those panels lines etc. are really sharp, and somehow they are looking very realistic. But also it looks like model too, I must say that it's really tough one.

Needs to buy one of these, and build something like this:

Ok, I have AMT Chevrolet Monza right now on my hands. I've had it for a while. It's better quality kit, as I was expecting. There are seperate axle systems, and there is an engine too. Interior looks like pretty close one, but of course some modifications needs to be done. I'm building this version as Chevy Monza, so next one, I buy will be converted to '79 Skyhawk. Well, there are pretty much parts, but somehow they just don't look right. I will fit those parts together before I start painting them, so then I can see if I can use them or not. So I'm going to complete model once without paint, and then I know, what needs to be done, so it looks good. Here are some pictures, what's inside AMT kit http://s1038.photobucket.com/albums/a463/VintageDragRace/76%20Chevy%20Monza/ .

I bought two air cleaners, and I'll be using other one for that C/Street Mustang project. Those are resin, of course. I will continue these soon, I just have too many projects going at the same time, and still trying to finish something for 2011.

Well, this looks cool! I like seeing Top Methanol (or Alcohol) Dragster being built too, because if I can see modern Dragsters, they are almost always Top Fuel. Nice job with those body panels too, and detailing is incredible. Thanks for sharing this build.

Wow, engine and blower are looking very realistic. Somehow they just look like they're made from metal, not plastic. Transmission looks very good too, detailing is very high level. Great project.

MPC 1/12 1930 Bentley Racing Car
W-409 replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Great job with this build. To me, it looks like you are on the Bentley factory, and post pictures from those cars in progress. Can't believe that it's a model. Very nice job with it, your builds make building models look so easy. -
Some wheel&tire questions... *New question added*

Thanks everyone. Needs to look for those, I'll let you know, what I found or didn't find. -
Nostalgic Super Stock/Pro Stock Hemi questions.
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. I'll do like that, and when this is going to be Pro Stock, some day I will have Super Stock and Pro Stock Cudas next to each other. Your Challenger looks very good, can't believe that it's Die cast originally. -
Some wheel&tire questions... *New question added*
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Ok, I have new question, please answer if you know anything. I need to find Slicks for my Peterbilt build. Where could I find slicks, which are at least as high as those original truck tires? Maybe some larger scale model kit has them. I will look, how large those truck tires are, and post that information here soon. Any help would be appreciated. -
Engine color for 429 Cobra Jet
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks for the help. This forum is great place, I can get answers for all of the questions, thanks guys! I think, I'll be using Revell enamel paint, it's pretty close, and ordering Testors paints would be bit too expensive... I haven't seen them here in Finland though. -
Nostalgic Super Stock/Pro Stock Hemi questions.
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I feel like dumb now. I've been looking for the rules for Stock Eliminator and Super Stock categories. But I didn't realize, that Jo-Han kit has Tunnel Ram Intake and Dominator (?) carburetors and that hood scoop! I've been building the F/Stock Nova with NHRA rules, but I still didn't figure out, that those are of course illegal. Thanks for the replies. Hello! Great to see you again, and great information, thanks! I think, I'll be doing Vintage Pro Stocker, because I love that TunnelRam intake on it, and hood scoop is cool too. I will buy new kit some day and turn it to Super Stocker. Thanks again for the advice. And BTW, Did you get my answer for the conversation at Scale Auto forum? -
I'm not sure about this yet. I mean, I don't know, am I buying one or two of these. One needs to be built factory stock, as the Hudson and other would be really cool NASCAR racer, because these were quite popular on those days.

Maybe the best Chevrolet Big Block, I've seen can be found from Monogram's '70 Chevelle. It's not so superdetailed, as newer Revell's are, but it can be built really nice. And it's big, some of those engines in model kits are way too small, they look like law mover's engine when they are installed. That Monogram's engine is good, and it has blower too, which can be installed for some other car, if not on this. Same block can be found from Revell or Monogram '66 Malibu Flipnose kit, with Tunnelram intake, and there was one more kit, but I can't remember it. Those are maybe the best StreetRace style Chevy Big Blocks, I've found, of course AMT '67 Impala for example has bit better quality one, but I can still see those Monogram engines as a better choice. And Centerlines can be found from many kits, but I've seen good ones in Revell '57 Nomad. They are really nice, chromed, but of course they can be painted too. And that Monogram '70 Chevelle, where is that good engine, has really nice Centerlines too. Nice project you got going, that stance is just perfect, and somehow I like the look with those steelies, but maybe those tires don't fit so nicely. Those are like 50's and 60's Drag tires... But anyway, great looking build, that cowl induction scoop just fits nicely on the hood.
-
Some more putty and sanding for the hood. Tomorrow I will primer it again, hopefully I can paint it after that, but not sure about that yet. Otherwise than that hood, this car is pretty much done, license plate on the front needs to be changed, but nothing special.

AirTrax has '73 Volvo P1800ES, here is completed list of their products. Posted in 2009, so there might be some new ones, but anyway here are some of them. We do not supply parts plated or windows in the kits." -
Here in Finland, car has to be built only from those parts what are in the box. But making plug wires from parts trees, is allowed, so I think, carb. linkages are allowed too, here in Finland. Don't know, how it is in the U.S.A. anyway.

This is looking really wild! Cool. Now when that bodywork is not 100% smooth, it would be great if it would be same styled as Fast Freddy's Chevy Pickup. Matt black and painted rust and some other damages too. But it doesn't look bad now either, great job with it.

Nostalgic Super Stock/Pro Stock Hemi questions.
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Thanks, guys!!! Thanks for the help, I will paint that engine orange then, and oil pan, water pump and heads too. How About the intake manifold, that's the only part, I don't know yet? And I'm not building exactly that Sox&Martin Car, just Vintage Super Stocker just like it could race on these days too, but still looking like Vintage SuperStocker.
