It looks much better after every update. Great work bro, keep these pictures coming! I like the stance, and engine detail looks good too. I haven't seen many of these Pro Mod Nomads, especially in this scale. It's great to see this one, so thanks for sharing.

1965 Dodge A100 Overhaulin' Style
W-409 replied to mrmike's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
X2! They just don't fit. But it's going to be interesting project, even if you are using those wheels or not. Because I like that Dodge A100 body style very much. But this car needs to have steelie wheels, and dog dish style hubcaps. -
Noooo! Not those wheels, it looks very beautiful with steelies, but those too big wheels with flat tires don't fit to this one, I think. I'd like to see it with normal size wheels and tires. Of course this is just my opinion, and that is not much. I'm afraid, that many people like it with those wheels too.

are these kit worth anything
W-409 replied to polandmob's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
WOW, that Monza is great. I haven't seen that version of Monza model kits before. I have AMT kit, but that looks cooler. It's a shame, that it's factory sealed, so we can't see, what's inside the box. I mean the parts quality and if they match the real car, but it must be nice kit anyway. And I can guess, that it really is worth money, I've never seen it and I've been looking for different versions of 1/25 scale Monza. -
Really nice builds for 2011. You had very good year. It's inpossible to say, what's your best build, but I maybe like that Gremlin the best. Cool builds, and thanks for sharing. Those Hudsons are very nice too, and I guess, you are the only one who has both of the Hudson kits built.

Oh, I had to ask, where are you going to connect those wires/cables (or what ever they are) from fire bottles? So they are going from fire bottle to where? I need to connect those next on my Pontiac FC, and then it's completed.

'56 Ford Pickup Street/Race
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks, Dirk! Just noticed, that the paint on that front seat is not completely dry, so needs to wait some more time, before painting another shade of red. Anyway I can continue with painting other intarior parts, and detailing the engine. -
That's true. I'll be working on this soon again. Tomorrow I'm away from home, and I come back on sunday. That's the first day, I can continue this build. I take some models with me, but not this one, because it needs styrene, bondo and too much other things, what are too hard to take with me.

'56 Ford Pickup Street/Race

Thanks, Mark! Next step is of course interior, and engine needs some more detail too. I've been thinking about primering that body, but lets see. I have Pontiac Firebird FC what keeps me busy-I'm trying to finish it in 2011. -

This build has been waiting for long time, but yesterday I was able to do some progress.... I sanded all of the putties from front seat, and painted it with first color. Today I'll be adding some lighter red also. Needs to paint some other interior parts too, stay tuned for more updates. -
Thanks guys! It would have been lots of easier to begin with that, but... I think, it's great to look these pictures, when this build is finished. And I'm not building this as typical Pro Street. That kit would have needed lots of modifications too, even if it would still have been easier start. Bart: The placement of those tires is still big question to me. The mock up shows that better. Needs to make other side to the same position, and then needs to look if I move them under fenders or not. I'm looking for some Bracket Racer look for this-not so professional Drag Car.
-
We are so amazed about the build quality, that no one can say anything. That's truly amazing detail work! And I really enjoy looking at your builds, they are always great. Interesting subjects and bit different too (which is good!). I think, there's only positive feedback about your threads, these are always great to see. And as I said, detailing on that engine is truly amazing.

I've built one '55 Chevy, and I have one '56 Ford, and '55 and '57 Chevy bodies. That '56 Ford will be Funny car, and I've been thinking about making those '55 and '57 Chevrolets as painting practise models. But maybe I'd like to do them as bit milder Drag Racers than they were originally. Using Monogram '56 Chevy chassis, for example... Not sure yet, though, but looks like I have some strange plans again. Looks like pink in pictures, but it is bright red really. Needs to fix lightning on my photo booth. It needs some other fixing too.

Thanks guys! I'm pretty happy about it too. Maybe those wheels are the biggest mistake in this build. They should be silver, not chromed, but seems like I was lazy that time...
-
Cool build, I like to see Altereds and other bit different Drag Cars too. This one is cool, like the color on it. Very nice engine too, detailing is great. I have never been fan of those spoilers, even if they are useful and I've seen them in many cars. Nice build, thanks for sharing.

It has been long time without updates. But today I took this on the bench again. Those rear wheel openings were too big, so I had to make them smaller using styrene. Now I need to make somekind of "axle" so I can do same thing for the other side too. And there's lots of sanding to be done, and bondo is needed too. But this is just starting point-I will build other side on same situation, and then start shaping and cleaning out those...
-
Thanks, Mark and Andrew! Some bondo for the engine block. Tomorrow some sanding, and if everything looks good, I will paint it with primer. I'm trying to build this car as nice as I can, all of the ejector marks, and mold lines need to be removed. And of course detailing is important too.

The Hornet's Nest: Hudson Hornet Build Madness!
W-409 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
How I should paint door panels, as I'm building factory Stock Hudson? I was looking for pictures, but didn't find any good ones... -
Well, it has been a while since the last drawing... I had to try, if I still can do them... It didn't turn as good as I wanted, but hopefully next one turns out better. I've been thinking about making next one as good, as I can. I can see few problems on this Chevelle, but maybe next one will be better.

Fiat Topolino '60s Altered & Finished Slingshot Dragster
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Here's little update. I painted some silver for the valve covers, to give some more realistic look. Somehow they just didn't look good. I also removed some ejector marks from the intake manifold, and that's why there were not much chrome left. I painted it silver, but after that I found little mistake, which needs to be fixed before assembling that intake manifold. I have no pics about valve covers yet anyway. Here's the intake manifold. And also I had to glue piece of paper between the engine block, and that bellhousing, because otherwise it was possible to see, what's inside that bellhousing and there were nothing, of course. So I glued bit of paper, and painted it orange to fix this thing. -
Well, you guys just don't get it. From here, Finland. It's three hours flight to Paris. Last winter, we came to Orlando, Florida. It was 16 hours travel, with one plane change etc. Then, I visited two model shops, and no one wasn't asking, why I'm visiting them... As I said, I visited in two model shops, and then Daytona Speedway, and some of those Universal Studios etc. Last summer, we were in Rome, Italy. I visited in one Model shop there... If I remember correctly, it was 3 page thread here and no one suggested model shops to visit there... But I found one, good one. I visited there, and of course those traditional Colosseums, Vatican etc. I can post pictures, if you don't believe it. Now when I'm going to Paris, visiting in Model Shops takes few hours of that tourney, Museums, and that Eifel Tower etc. are on the list too, of course. So why not to do them both? Traditional places to visit, and model shops? You have more than 10 hours flight to Paris, guys. It's bit different than my 3 hour flight.

Fiat Topolino '60s Altered & Finished Slingshot Dragster
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Well, this was really great information, THANKS! I've been thinking, that Green Putty is too thick, but needs to try some thinner. Thanks. I've been looking for another, thinner putty which is bit easier to use, than "bondo". But now if it works, problem is solved. Thanks again. Steven: Thanks for the information. That shows, Tin Box version should have been better. But in this kit, there's frame and body for two Dragsters, so axles etc. are not so big problem. I was watching, that Streamliner Dragster can be modified to look better too. I'm going to take Dremel on my hands, when I start building it. Thanks for the information. -
I would suggest Pro Mod too, but maybe I'd start it from AMT kit, which has stock body. But I think, Chopped '49 Mercury would look good too as Pro Mod racer, but I think, PM cars look the best when front end is not shaped aerodynamic. So I wouldn't do any other body modifications, than spoiler and chop top. Of course hood needs some work too...
