Great Challenger! I'd like to have one too, but right now I have too many projects going, and can't get a new one. Maybe if I get something finished.... Anyway, your model looks very good to me. I like the color and paintjob looks very good too. Detailing is really great, and I love the wheels and tires. Great job on this one, want to see more of these being built.

Building Monogram's Street and Revell's Racing Version of Shelby Cobra.

Thanks, Cato for the info! I'm building this as a practise for the other Cobra, I have on the stash. I wan't that one to be well detailed Race car. I think, I'll make this one finished very soon, and then I can take a little break from Cobras, and maybe after few weeks, I'll start the other one. Great info, didn't know about the black frame rails, must paint them like that to the Racing version. Also must do those few more things bit different, and that one will look good. I must get back installing the radiator, then I can put the body on... -

A little update to this project. I built the interior ready. First I painted the steering wheel to simulate wood. First some brown paint on it, and then some clear orange. I also painted the center of the steering wheel as blue, but Cobra logo is still silver. Then I glued the cauges to the dash, and glued that thing on its place. I also started building the brake lines, but they aren't ready yet. Also installed battery cables to starter and frame. Also painted the body from the "wrong side", now this one is slowly coming together. Only the radiator stuff, and I can install the body. This one is getting close to being ready! Well, the hood must be painted... -
Huh, never heard of that before... It wasn't Cryshler or Lincoln, or any other "normal" manufacturer's car. I thought, it was some kind of prototype, or retro car. Well, better luck next time! I'm suprised, how many people really got it right...

Well, some people are going to Rome, Paris, New York, etc. Then they go shopping and buying clothes, lots of them... Huh, BORING! So it's my way to do the "shopping", going to the hobby shop and buy some model kit(s) from it. I've bought two model kits from Italy before, one Lancia Stratos and one Renault Alpine, both rally cars. Then I've bought many many kits from Sweden, like '67 Impala, '57 Ford Fairlane, '57 Nomad etc... I've bought three from Florida, Kenworth, '65 Stepside and Jeff Gordon's NASCAR. I've bought one '67 Corvette from London, and one Revell Chopper too. And now I'm looking for hobby shops in Rome, so I can continue from the list of my models, bought from different countries, at vacation. That's just my style, of course I must visit in the historical places, like Colosseum etc. But it wont take too long time for visiting in one or more hobby shops... And of course, MUST VISIT IN HARD ROCK CAFE! It's very close to the hotel, where I stay, and that's great.

Some wheel&tire questions... *New question added*
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Well, I've found correct wheels to the truck, but they are only to the four rear tires. I'm using the Slicks from Revell Pro Sportsman kits, but I need still two of those slicks. Front wheels are bit more tricky, must find some good ones, or I've been thinking of scratchbuilding them, maybe? -
Haha, I had the same feeling... I spent maybe half an hour in google searching pictures, and found nothing. It has the look from many other cars, so it's very tricky to try guessing it right when I have no idea, what I'm looking for. But I'm very interesed about, what it really is, and HOW MANY REALLY GOT IT RIGHT? Well, must try again next time this one is too hard for me. I was thinking almost every American car make, like Lincoln, Cryshler etc. But didn't realize, what it is really.

Looks good. I like the color on it, and paintjob looks very good too. This kit is really great, worth buying and building. I've also built one, many years past. This model looks very good, but maybe some engine detailing would make this one to look better? Nice build anyway, here is a picture of my Willys, not too great build, but anyway. (Click the picture to get it bigger).

Good looking Thunderbird! I like the stance on it, very good. Engine detailing is nice, and paintjob looks very good. I like the overall look on this one. This is one of the few building styles what make this model Thunderbird interesting. Nice job, keep these coming!

The Soft Seal kit was re-released few years? ago. Re release box top looks like this, I think.LINK Really great build! That color looks good, and paintjob is great. I like the decals on it. Really great looking '57 overall. I'd like to see some engine and chassis pictures from it. Those Good Year letters on tires are looking really good too.

MINISTYLE 1970 Impala window Coach/Hearse
W-409 replied to David@MinidreamsInc.'s topic in Model Cars
Yes, Looking real good! I can't find any mistakes from it, very clean build, overall look is great. Paintjob looks amazing, and color is a good choice. I really like those wheels and tires. Engine detailing is super, and chassis looks good. Idea is also very good, but that top is maybe bit too massive. I would have chopped it a bit, just a few millimeters, so it doesn't go too low. But with those wheels, that top is looking pretty good, I can find somekind of building style from that. -
Now I have the final primer on. It's looking smooth now, and painting is the next step... Maybe I would paint some other parts too, like the hood for my '57 Bel Air. But let's see, when I paint it with spray gun.

Detailing the battery... Well, I installed it just to the firewall, it's now there and it will stay there. First picture shows that I'm using Detail Master's Battery hardware set, which includes some photoetched parts to detail the battery. Also some battery cable from Scale Dreams, but I must glue them next to the starter, and frame. I can add them to the battery when body and interior are installed to the chassis. Before detailing the battery, I glued a bottom piece to the battery, because there was a great hole. Paint, few photoetch parts, and some detail painting, installing the battery and now it's done. Next step is to continue building the brake lines... -
My closest hobby shop is about 40 kilometers, and some driving on the traffic jams... And of course, the model kits there are really expensive... I have bought kits lately from internet only, much more cheap and no driving anywhere! And of course, if there are hobby shops, I'll visit them... And there are at least those three in Rome, so I'll visit them. Of course, lots of things to see in Rome, but those are on the list too.... I've bought a model from a vacation EVERY time, I have found a hobby shop. Last time I visited two in Daytona Beach...

And how about the other Historic Racing CB Builds? They are interesting, but nothing happens? I didn't get the Austin primered, because I found some new places for putty. Well, maybe today I can paint some primer on it. Oh yes, panel lines need some scribing, but that it easy to do... So there might be an update coming, stay tuned...

It's great to see that every day comes an update, and the bike always looks BETTER! Really nice job on this one, detailing is incredible, and all of the modifications are made very nicely. Personally this is not my favorite style Drag Bike, but it's very interesting subject, as a model. I like this one, keep it going.

So, I'm building the Street version, and now I finally understood, where the battery actually is. White wall lettering is painted with a really small brush using Revell gloss white. It works fine, and doesn't go off from the tire, even if many people say that Revell enamel paints are bad and you can't paint a tire with them... I've never had any problems with that. Thank you for the info and reference, now I must get back to Cobra... -
Those decals might be in correct size... But for the model, yes, it's a '70 Plymouth Cuda. This is going to be really interesting, building and restoring old and rare kit. Can't wait to see more.
-
That dash looks like real! Great job with it so far, can't wait to see more. Wheels and tires are looking really autentic also, this is one must have kit, as a little AMC and NASCAR fan... Keep it going, I'm watching this project!

Äh.... I didn't get 100% what you meant. So is the battery in the interior, where the passenger keeps his/her foot? Or in the engine bay? I have one battery under construction, but if it is in the interior, then I don't add so much detail to it, because no one can see it. -
Thank you all for the nice words. This one is in my personal "Top Ten Rally Cars"- list. It was pretty wild machine, of course can't beat Lancia S4, or 037... Thank you for the comments, I hope to have next one finished pretty soon...

Thanx, both! If I remember correctly, this kit doesn't have a battery, so I must take one from my spares box... Thanx for the info. I have started adding brake lines, but they are still under construction, I can't finish them until I have the brake master cylinder fitted to the car, and that means, that I must put the body on before I can finish those brake lines... But if I remember correctly, I have one photo etch set of battery decals, and some battery cable, so I can make that battery look good. -
69 Daytona Pro Mod 1/16th scale updated 4/3/12 ..It's a wrap!
W-409 replied to Romell R's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
How about the price of those Slixx decals? And where I can get them? They are looking very good, and what I've heard, they are good quality too... Those sponsor decals are always very important, it's great to have few of them waiting for a model... Great work so far, as always! Those four link mountings are looking really good so far. I like the frame construction, this one inspires me to continue my '63 Impala Pro Street with tube frame, I made from brass. Also I'd like to start my '60 Impala Pro Streeter... Lots of models to be done, but so little time for them all... -
Thanks, Brett! It looks like, I can lay the final primer today, because the weather looks good enough... Chassis is still on the starting line, but when I got some paint there, I'll continue. Hope to get this one finished on the summer vacation.
