Yes, these kits are great to build, but those ejector marks are quite stupid to remove... Anyway, the finished product is (hopefully) worth the job. Your models look very good too, really nice builds they are!

Yes, pictures are very nice! Just like a showroom for new factory stock vehicles. And pics are sharp too, as the models are! Really great job on them both. My favorite is a Camaro, of course I'm Chevy Fan mainly... But models look very good, keep them coming.

Styrene is shaping really nicely, you got amazing scratch building talents... Well, I build what I can, but you build what you want! Really great progress here. That body would be very nice basis for Old School Drag Racing Altered too, but maybe it's more interesting when it's built like this, because the body is scratchbuilt...

I must continue the engine, but now I did some work for the chassis. I removed two ejector marks from the gas tank with file, and sandpaper. Also removed other two ejector marks just behind the gas tank and some text, like "Revell Monogram..." I put also some putty there, and now some sanding, and then the chassis is in pretty good shape, I didn't find too many things in that, well, the other side might be other thing, I haven't look at it yet. Thanks for looking.

So you are using the kit windows, not windows made from acetate? I've just used Eri Keeper, but maybe you don't have it in the USA. But I like glue, which dries clear, so if there comes some glue to window, it doesn't matter too much, because it dries clear, and no one can see it. Some of you guys, have used Cristal Clear, or something like that, from Microscale. Also some use normal clear for gluing windows, and other clear molded pieces... Hope This Helps...

Great article! Thanks for the information, you all! I must get that, and try. It seems to be very good stuff....

I'm back from Rome! I visited in that Giorni Modellismo. It was pretty good shop, close to Vatican. There were very much models, and some cars and motorbikes. I bought one Tamiya's Porsche 935...This kit The "better" shop, Modellismorossi was really bad. Went there with underground (what an experience!). Then looking for the shop, and when I found it, it was full of RC. There were simply two model kits, one airplane and one ship. I bought nothing from there. Of course I visited in Colosseum, Forum Romano, ST. Peter's Church, Fontana Di Trevi etc... Not only in model shops.

Thanks, Corey for the pictures! They help a lot. Got to continue this build soon, those pics are great. Thanks for the comments, John, Ryan and Danno! Those mold lines and ejector marks are looking bad, and that's why I'll remove them... I'm not so happy with some of my older builds, where are the mold seams and ejector marks... Ryan, the engine plumbing takes some time, but it looks good when finished. It's really worth trying.

That's nice! I like the engine detailing on it, and that manifold looks very good too. Paintjob looks very good, and decals are nicely on their place. Stance looks good, wheels and tires are great. This one is really clean build, and that '61 Dodge is very nice car.
-
That one is Old School! Color is great, and I like that you painted the wheels with that body color also. Paintjob is really glossy, and engine looks good, from what I can see. So maybe engine picture, and one from the interior too would be great to have. But overall, really nice build.

Really nice Race Car! I like the paintjob, it looks very good. Decals are nice, and they fit nicely to the body shapes. Detailing on the engine looks amazing, and overall look is very great. Tires and wheels are very nice too, I like it.

You guys are using the Future Floor Wax, (or what is it) for many different subjects. I'd like to hear all of the ways, you use it, and how? I've been amazed, when I notice future used almost everywhere. So what are the things, you like to do with Future? I've seen some bottles of it here in Finland too, and I've been thinking of buying it, so maybe it would be a good stuff. And I know, that there are many topics about future, but now I'd like to hear all of the ways to use it. Thanks.

Old School IS Cool! Great job with this Altered! I like seeing these, the Golden Era of DragRacing. Budget racer idea is also great, and model is built very nicely. Rust looks very realistic, and yellow paint fits nicely to the body. Detailing is great, and I love the stance of it. Nothing to complaine, it's very beautiful model. Makes me building something same styled from my '32 Ford... Let's see.

Just a little update. Did some bodywork on this one. I sanded the hole thing, so every mold seam doesn't matter anymore. Also there were lots of mold flash in fender flares, window openings etc. I removed them all with hobby knife, and finished with sandpaper. Just next to the headlights, there were some mold flash. That needed bit more sanding, but now it looks alright to me and I hope that they can't bee seen when the primer is on. Also put some putty to the body, just a little more sanding, and I'm ready for first primer coat. AND I still need a picture of Nascar engine, where those lines can be seen. (My earlier post). I can't finish them at this week, but on the next week, I'll be back with this one, maybe. But I have done two of those lines, and I did some test fitting with them, so they fit. The little silver part, where I glued them, is made from Coca Cola can aluminium, which is pretty good stuff for modeling. I've built some parts from it, and works fine. Awful mold seam- needs to be sanded away! Just sanded it with 600 grid paper. Removed all of the mold flash from fender flares...(?)

Just took the engine away from the paint stripping. It's quite white now, but there are some red spots, and also some of those black spots. If I remember correctly, this engine was an test piece, where I tested using red on black primer. But now, I give a light sanding to it, then primer coat, which shows all of the mistakes. Then I'll fix them and new primer coat, maybe. Then the black paint. Or maybe I do it other way, so there comes less primer under the base coat. I didn't strip the paint off from the transmission, because it hasn't too thick paintcoat. -
Last time I said that it's real and I was wrong, but this time I'm going to be right. That needs to be REAL. Or then it is 1/2 model, or something like that big... Let's see what it really is, but it looks like real to me.

That's great to hear! I must get back to my Merc' soon, but now the building feels very good, when there is no pressure, and no deadline. Just right now looking for reference shots for Nascar, and tomorrow, early in the morning (or in Florida's time, at night), at 7.50 AM leaves the airplane to Rome... But maybe next week I can get back to Mercury.
-
It's cool. I like the stance alot. Tires and wheels are also looking awesome. It's just like from the 60's. Matt black is nice, but of course shiny gloss black would be better. But when it is a drivable project, I can understand that matt black paint. I like the engine and interior too. It's really great Hot Rod from the past. Great to see this one without stupid high tech parts.

If anyone has pictures of these lines on the engine, please post one. I'd like to see them from this, same side as in the picture, below. But the picture should be taken from the sideview... I have made two of those lines now, but still few to go. Can't continue before I see a picture. I didn't find any, but I keep looking for. But if you find one, please post it. It would be very helpful. I'm not so great NASCAR expert, that I could say, how are those in 1:1 car... THE PICTURE:

Yes, and then, since there is no pressure, maybe the finished products are better, because no one is hurry. I like building without deadlines, always for example, if model car show is on the next weekend, I'm getting hurry, and maybe the finished product is not as good, as it could be... The Cars Of Rock 'n' Roll and County Music is a great community build, but my progress is just too slow, because the Merc' needs lots of work. The body needs to be sanded, and filled again, and chassis maybe needs some cutting, not sure of that yet, but stuff like that... It would be great to have that as open-ended CBP.

WOW, haven't seen that never before! It looks like everything is possible in Santa Pod, UK... That's really cool looking VW bus, can't wait to see more of your work, because that body work is amazing, and frame construction is cool too. Great project... SantaPod is a great track. Never been there, but if I remember correctly, there has been driven the fastest 1/4 mile pass ever, 3.58 seconds!!! That was in 1984, I think. Driver was Sammy Miller with Vanishing Point Rocket Car, which had '77 Vega body. Yes, bit offtopic, but just had to say...

This one is going to look great... Oh, it looks great already! I like the idea, Blown Hemi is a great motor for this one. That Topolino body is really small. Like it so far, keep coming, especially I like that front axle system, it's just like it is in 1:1 cars...
-
As Harry said, those tires aren't tiny at all! I like this body model, and buildup looks very good too. Color and paintjob are looking really nice, and engine detailing is good. I'm happy to see one Muscle Car with normal size wheels and tires. Chassis looks good too. Keep them coming.

Building Monogram's Street and Revell's Racing Version of Shelby Cobra.

Alright, thanks for that note, I'll paint it black then, so it is more realistic, than it would be in blue. -
Great project, Gassers are really great subject. Using a Mercedes body is great idea, that's something really rare in Drag Racing... Engine fits nicely, and I like the rear tires, but those front tires are too small, I think. It would look better with higher profile front tires, I think, that those are way too small. Tires and wheels are from a dragster kit now? But anyway, it's a great project, I'll be watching it very surely.
