Hello! I finished this one today, to the model car show on saturday here in Finland... This was built once when I got it from trade. First I started from the body. I filled up the doorlines. I sectioned the body, because it was not so good looking... There were no trunk lid at all, so I took one from some other model. It was too short but I took the piece, I sectioned from the body and glued it to there. There was a hole on the body too, in front of the windshield frame. I filled it too and placed putty very much, lots of primer and more putty and so on. Grille is sectioned too... Engine is Ford Flathed V8 with some speedparts. It's so traditional engine that it was "must have" thing. It's painted by red and there are weathering on it. Plug wires are aftermarket stuff, as always and there are throttle linkages and brake lines and so on... The belt is modified from normal style, fitting to Flathead. Alternator is made from scratch. Headers are made from solder. Frame is built 100% from scratch. It was not so easy, because it's built from plastic tube... But after all, it looks pretty good. It's painted by gloss black. Front axle is made from brass tube. I used also silver and most of the connections on the front axle are made by soldering... Rear axle is original, gas tank from '39 Chevy Panel, a little of details and putty. No it's quite good... Interior... Floor is what comes with Revell kit but I had to change it a bit, because of the propeller shaft... I saw cardan tunnel away from it and I made it higher than what it was. Lots of putty again and silver paint on it. Steering wheel is modified from '58 Impala to '60 Impala's wheel. Seats are from AMT's '49 Mercury. Battery has all of the cabels and shoes (?). Body is painted by matt black, decals, rust as you can see from the name. Brake lines added, wheels and tires from somewhere... Thank you and please lots of comments and suggestions, critic and questions and everything like that.... PS. This is the post number 409! "She's Real Fine My Four O Nine!"

Then I built Jo-Han kit from '69 Rambler American. This is one of the best Jo-Han kit's, I have seen but there is still lots and lots of work if you want to get it look like 1:1 car... I built added plug wires to that 390'' engine and changed the rear axle, and all tires and wheels. It's built to look like Super Stocker and that's why I made all those modifications. Battery is in the trunk. It's painted by spray can and it has decals from many of old model kits. It has a few coats of clear on it and this was the first model ever, wich I get to model car show. That was new and amazing to me. Now I have to go back to the bench. More comes tomorrow! (Or later today, let's see.)

Had no time for post more pictures yesterday, but here comes! After Ford Pickup, I bought very interesting kit from '63 Chevrolet Chevy II. It's AMT's Altered wheelbase kit, wich is not so good. There are no vinyl tires, as usual they must be painted! Chassis piece is too short, I mean there leaves a big hole to the back... Engine is a little simple, there are no details at all. Interior is quite good, there comes awesome looking bucket seats and so on. Body looks cool and some day I buy this again and built it to '66 Nova's chassis wich is much better than this. It's painted by spray can and there are no detail parts used... After AWB racer I built '71 Buick GSX. It's "Revell Muscle" kit and that kit is very good. There is an option: You can build a stock version or street machine version with Tunnel Ram- manifold. I built it like street machine, there are original wheels and tires, hole on the hood and there comes manifold, carburetors and air cleaners. It's painted by spray can. Decals are in quite bad shape right now, after many years... Something went wrong with the clear... More on the next post..

I would like to entry to this interesting community build, I have AMT '67 Impala wich is going to be like straight from the factory line. Is it ok? If it is, I start building, it's waiting for builder. So I haven't done anything for it yet, just have looked reference but nothing else. Is it ok, is it?

It has been long long time without any updates... I think, I'm going to keep those 429 valve covers and make a new decals to the hood. Like "429 C.I" Then it's allright. I get slicks for this one too, had no pictures right now, but I hope, I can continue building quite soon. But now I'm working on '32 Ford to model car show, but after it's ready I continue this one...

'57 Chevy Bel Air Convertible - 1/16 - Junk Car
W-409 replied to Model Junkyard's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That's some insane scratchbuilding! AWESOME firewall you did!!! Thank you for sharing this WIP and keep it going. -
This is very good looking! Those mods are not too radikal, but they give a great custom look to this build. Like that grille very much, is that Chevy grille so good looking on the Ford... Those modifications are made very nicely, no hurry and great colour on it. Paintjob looks very nice and smooth, and you have made lots of work for it. Great looking interior (what I can see from the picture), that green is very good choice as I said already. That headliner looks very good too. Have no critic to say but I would think about register plates to it, they could give still better look.

After Duster I built "Twister Vega". It's AMT's kit and I didn't put all of the decals, came with the kit. This kit has a bad chassis, everything is molded to one piece. Engine is way too small, I've said this before, but I say it again: In 1:1 '79 Skyhawk (in the garage too) there is performer manifold from Edelbrock and as low air cleaner as possible. That combination fits just under the hood, but it's very very close. This Vega (both are H-Bodys) has Big Block Chevy with blower and no scoop needed. Kit has scoop, but it's a part wich the kit does not need... Painted by spraycan. After Vega, I built '55 Ford pickup for a gasser style, but now years later, front suspension has broke down a bit and not frontend is much lower than it was. But this is NOT a "Basic Farmtruck", because under the hood, there is 351'' Cobra Jet with Blower. This kit had originally Vortech Supercharger, but it was too modern. Wheels and tires were looking funny= low profile tires with big wheels so I changed them. It's quite fast build. No details, painted with spraycan. Ohio plates. More on the next post... It comes tomorrow.

Here are pictures from the Nova. It's built after that '67 Chevelle and before '64 GTO. It's AMT's Pro Stock kit. That kit is quite simple, chassis is not good and interior... Not so good either. Engine choices are 350''SBC or 454''BBC. I put 454 into this and tunnel ram manifold is from the box. Those front tires are not perfect, rear tires are from the kit too. Kit had only Gragar 5 spoke wheels, or original and I wanted to put Centerline wheels to it. Painted by spray. After '64 GTO, I built '71 Plymouth Duster FC. It's the "Cop Out Duster" from Revell, originally from Monogram. I left Police lights and decals away from it, there is now detailing parts used, painted by spray can but it went quite wrong... More on the next post...

That's the way of my building too. I'm not trying to manage in the competition, I just want to show up my models. If I win a price, that's just a great thing, but it's not a question of life and death....

Wow, this is very very nice model! That Street Fighter kit is not very good, my dad has it and I've never heard anything else positive comments from him than "Well it's 1960 Nomad" (That's very good, because in the garage, there is '60 Impala 2D HT Sport Coupe.) I have Jimmy Flintstone resin kit from '60 Nomad but I'm just waiting better building skills before I start building it... But your looks nice, paintjob is very great and engine looks good too, with those plug wires, nice detailing on it. Just don't like that 70's or 80's style so much, but whatever.
-
Good looking lowrider! Paintjob is super, clean and smooth! Looks like prefect. I'm suprised if this model doesn't manage in the show!
-
Looking very nice! I think, those modifications make this model looking lots of better than it was from the kit. Now it looks like "normal" street car. Nice job, paintjob looks good, BMF work is great looking too! Engine is great too, awesome detailing and I like those wheels and tires. I think, it looks very good!

And all WIP pictures are here: '57 Nomad Gasser All comments, suggestions, critic and questions are very very very welcome!!! THANK YOU!

OLD SCHOOL GASSER NOMAD!!! I finished this one today. This project started in November 2008. It was quite long project, bought from Sweden... I started building from interior. Because idea was to turn this into Gasser, I removed the backseat from it. I saw it first away and then using some unknown plastic, I filled the hole. Then some putty on it and lots of sanding... I get some fabric and I made a carpet from it. Of course it's black. Kit has quite bad door panels, so I saded them smooth and lots of putty to them too, and sanding... Then I painted it with silver and now they look like made from aluminium. I made new door hinghes from piece of rivet... Front seat is from kit, I had to put some putty to it. Floor shifter wasn't in the kit. Engine is SBC 283''. That's quite ok from the kit. There is manifold options for Tunnel Ram or Cross Ram or original Fuel injection... But they all were anything but good for Gasser, so I used Hillborn Fuel Injection for it. Engine is painted by red and there are lots of different colours. Manifolds are from unknown model kit, but they are painted by silver and then a bit of blue to them. Plug wires are Detail Master's stuff. That engine looks pretty good on the car, valve covers are chromed original "Chevrolet" covers... Chassis got some modifications too... Original gas tank was not good for Gasser, so I took dremel and it was bye bye for original gas tank. It was sure, that I will be using Mooneyes tank on it... Exhaust pipes are molded to chassis and I removed them. Mufflers I removed with dremel and I sanded all of the original pipes away from the chassis. Rear axle with leaf springs is from the kit and front axle is from '55 Chevy BadMan Gasser. I painted it with gold and springs are chromed. I removed original front axle mounts from springs... Tie rod is made from MIG wire. Body is painted with a spray gun, Badger 250 and paint is Revell Enamel blue... It's quite good (and smooth), I had a bit problems with it but finished paintjob looks pretty good. Decals are from some old model kit, they were in quite bad shape. I put one of those textes together from five pieces! Clear is Revell's Enamel clear. It was very tricky to clear it up, but it's looking quite ok. Foiling went wrong. Small pieces of Clear left off from the body and that means that it's not looking so good right now... Final assembly was not so difficult, gas tank is from Mooneyes and I made mounts to it from MIG-wire. Then I made a hole to it for fuel line. It's Pro Tech's "Braided Line" and it goes to fuel filter... From there lieves one hose to that part, where goes one fuel line for every fuel injection tube... Just a little details to engine. Original grille and front bumber system was not good, so I saw just upper flange (?) away from it and installed it to body. No problems with final assembly, I think, model looks pretty nice right now, there are lots of mistakes (yes, I know) but the style is great. Few more pictures on the next post.

WOW, what a detailing! It looks very good, meaning that engine and that ''REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT'' is looking very good, plug wires are very nicely etc. Very good looking paintjob on it and those wheels and tires are looking very good. Stance is vewry great too. Build on!
-
This looks awesome! That weathering looks very autentic and that building style is good. I never would make weathering for that nice paintjob, you did and it looks amazing! I like this, pictures from the engine...? Great work!
-
Wow, it was very nice to see your "On The Workbench" topic. Lots of scratch building... This is just amazing and awesome model. Paintjob is very nice and I like that scratchbuilding a lot and detailing is super as always and those exhaust pipes are looking like 1:1!!! AMAZING job on this and keep these coming.
-
This is going to be great! That engine looks very nice and wheels and tires are 1:1 looking! Nice job, keep on the good work!

After Ford, I built '67 Chevrolet Chevelle Pro Street. It's Revell's kit and that kit is worth buying. It's very good and there are lots of useful stuff, if you want to buy it for spare parts. This is painted by brush, because I just didn't find a good colour on it. Paint is Humbroll Metallic blue, and that's not a good paintjob. My brush was very very bad... But anyway, engine is 396'' with blower. Blower is from Monogram '70 Chevelle and I left wheelie bars away. Othervise it is box stock build and it's very good kit!!! After this Chevelle I built '72 Nova Pro Stock but I have to go and take pictures from it later, so I'll post it later... Then I built '64 Pontiac GTO. It's Revell's kit and that kit is pretty good too... It has 455'' Big Block and Hillborn fuel injection system is from '57 Fairlane... Interior is built stock and this is pretty simple model, don't mean the kit! Wheels and tires are looking good, I think. Painted by spray gun and it has few coats of clear on it. I'm pretty happy with this model, all body trim is painted by Revell Enamel colours... More comes tomorrow, comments and questions are very welcome!

Ok, now it's coming some more... After the GTX I bought '66 Chevrolet Malibu Flip Nose wich is new version of Monogram's old model. Was it called ''Malibu SM''? However, this is painted by brush again and I have changed the wheels and tires, they are from Monogram '70 Chevelle. I left that scoop away and I put some sponsor-decals to it. Engine is 427 Big Block Chevy, it's straight from the box and interior has no modification either. Chassis is that, what comes with the kit. It was quite good model but now, many many years later, I think, I would make that Flip Nose working.. And after Malibu was built, I bought other new release from old Monogram's kit... This time it was '55 Chevy Gasser, wich was ''BadMan'' originally... This is PAINTED BY SPRAY CAN!!! So, it's my first model painted with spray can and it went quite well. This kit is not so good, because engine is too small, not meaning cubic inches. I mean that it's looking way too small on there... Chassis was pretty good and that front axle system looks pretty good so now I bought BadMan's front axle to '57 Nomad, wich will be finished soon. This one is not one of my best ones, but I like the style of this build. And yes, it's matt black. Scoop is from '66 Malibu... After Bel Air I build '32 Ford with 302'' and blower but it felt to floor and now I'm working it again. More on the next post...

I have painted these older models with brush, not all of them. I painthed just a few models after these one with brush and then it was time to move on and use spray paints... Just a few weeks ago I painted '57 Nomad with spray gun (Badger 250). Thank you for comments, I'll post more of my old builds later tomorrow, when I come back from school...
-
First I thaught, this will be not looking good without any chrome parts... Now I think, this looks very nice! Black and red are very good combo and your paintjob looks very good too. Engine looks good and chassis is very good looking! Like those black wheels on it... Keep on building these awesome lowriders!
-
Then I built '99 Silverado Pickup... It's quite new car and it's not so interesting than my others but it's painted by brush as others and this was very great model when built. Kit was good too... I thaught, it was time to build something else... So I built Revell '71 Plymouth GTX. I used decals from '57 Fairlane kit, 9'' slicks are from Fairlane kit and I raised that rearend a bit. Now it looks like mix of NASCAR and Drag Race car... But I was happy with it. It's paited with a brush... More comes tomorrow, comments and questions welcome, and I try to answer. But now, good night!

Hello! I just took some outdoor pictures from my older builds, and I would like to post a few pics. It was only under 10 celsius degrees outside so it wasn't so funny to take these pics. My first model ever was '60 Ford Starliner. I built it stock and basis was AMT's kit. That kit was great, and I'll buy it again some day... Car is painted by brush and 'cause it's my first model ever, there are no details all around. I built this in age of six, so it's seven years ago. My second model was '59 Fairlane, but I have only one picture from it, I post it later. But my third model was '58 Plymouth Belvedere, it's built from AMT kit, if I remember correctly. It's also painted by brush and wow, two tone colour on it... No details added to this one... It was great kit too! Continues on the next post...
