  1. Thanks for the kind words, Danno! Much appreciated !
  2. Well, after a short break in the building process, I was sure that my first clear coat was completely dry . Today I took this one out again and shot another coat of clear on the body before going to sand my Bondo work on 1:1 '60 Impala. It turned out pretty smooth and shiny so I'm really happy and it should be a perfect starting point for polishing. The shapes on the body will make the polishing a challenge though. There is a Model Car Contest on January 31st so I hope I can get this one done by then.
  3. Thanks Gene and Darryl, Much Appreciated! Here are two pics of the body with the tapes removed. That white paint job turned out decent: Not the smoothest ever as there is a bit of orange peel but I believe it can be saved easily with a good clear coat and polishing. Luckily my masking tapes workedand white paint didn't go into blue areas. Now I will let it dry properly before clear coating it.
  4. Thanks Tyrone and Stan! I appreciate the kind words, especially when you both have built super nice tube chassis Drag Cars with many scratchbuilt & modified parts. I think the cage is not quite done yet even if I originally thought so. A couple of tubes need to be added after looking more closely to rear cages. Nothing much though. I will keep you guys posted once I get some more work done on this.
  5. It is a great kit in my opinion. I don't have the Hot Rod version, but I do have that regular '64 Falcon and '65 Ranchero also by Trumpeter and both of them are super nice. Personally I don't see big issues with the body and what I've built so far it goes together really nicely. I will need to get an other '64 Falcon kit, too to build an old Drag Car.
  6. I can't explain it either, but that is true! (Even though there are a couple of exceptions). Working with old plastic is just so much more fun! Great to see the paint is starting to come off really nicely on the body and that your engine is coming apart. Removing that old glue can be a pain to do, but the end result is always worth it.
  7. I tried it once on a spare trunk lid and it worked. The paint job turned out smooth and shiny, but with a Dremel it's really easy to polish through the paint. And when polishing larger areas, like a roof on a model car it might be hard to get a smooth and even finish. Edit: I want to add this: Personally I would not try this on a nicely painted model car body... It is so easy to go wrong with it.
  8. It's great to see those taillights done that way. Foiling those chrome trims in a separate clear red taillight would have been completely impossible. To me at least. I can't wait to have one of these on my hands (On my bench) as I can see myself building a Super Stocker from one of these.
  9. Thanks for the link! I don't know how I missed that one, but I'm so glad I saw it now...Fantastic work !
  10. That looks really good! I've always thought that a '30-'31 Ford looks much better than '32 and this proves it once again! Even though I might have liked to see a slightly chopped top on this one, it looks really good like this too. Great looking paint and I like the flames. Nice and clean work all over.
  11. I know I shouldn't buy any new kits as I already have them so much that it will take me at least a decade to build them all. But each year I buy lots of models... Actually only ones I'm planning to buy in 2015 is everything that Moebius Models is making. Hopefully I can find a Jo-Han or two as well.
  12. Super Glue and Epoxy are the best glues that work with resin in my opinion. I'd prefer using super glue, but epoxy works as well.
  13. How about a '59 Simca Vedette with Blown and Injected Early Hemi?
  14. Very cool builds... As usual! I have to say that even if I'm definitely not a Rat Rod person, but that first '57 Nomad looks excellent. That Car-Toon version looks really cool, too. Do you have any more pictures of it somewhere?
  15. Woo Hoo it's great to see someone building a Junior Stocker, especially when the builder knows what he is doing by knowing the rules of NHRA Stock class. The engine and your chassis work looks really good so far. I can't wait to see more, Junior Stockers are my favorite build subjects, too.
  16. Thanks Chris. Glad to hear you enjoyed! And I'm sorry I forgot to post more, but here we go again: Some more Super Stock. Can't see the classes though. Here is SS/HA Ford Mustang and a Chevy Camaro Super Stock. That Camaro was bought to Finland later and it has been racing actively since then. Last year I was driving a couple of qualifying runs against it too. Here is a picture of that Camaro in 2014: http://tapahtumakuvia.kuvat.fi/kuvat/Tapahtumat+2014/Bl%C3%A5kl%C3%A4der+Finals,+Motopark+16.-17.8.2014/Sunday/DSCN7803.JPG Then one Super Gas car, a '66 Chevelle. Then Competition Eliminator. AA/A Corvette driven by Dan Nickelson. Castrol Sponsored Oldsmobile is driven by David Nickens:
  17. Your models are always so nicely done. You had a great year for sure. They are all so nice and clean that picking my favorite is absolutely impossible. But great work on every one of them, I can't wait to see what you can come up with this year.
  18. This is an interesting project for sure. Great job combining those two kits to create a better detailed version of '67 Pontiac. I believe you test fitted the MPC body on Revell chassis and interior before cutting and that it didn't fit? It would have been easier that way if the parts fit together. I'm just asking if I start something similar someday. But really good job with that bodywork. Engine looks smooth too and I like your chassis. I can't wait to see more.
  19. Yep, Happy New Year Everyone! It looks like it's one hour and then it's 2015 here in Finland. So I went out for a short drive and shot a picture of my daily driver with a couple of fireworks in the background:
  20. Thanx Fellas!!! I appreciate your kind words, each and everyone ! Happy New Year everyone and I wish everyone good modeling year in 2015. Hopefully I can finish more as I did this year as well.
  21. Finally this '55 Chevy is back on the bench! I sprayed the dashboard with body color and it turned out decent. It will need to be clear coated, though before I can continue working on it. Then I sprayed some Primer on the scoop and actually I painted it with Chrome Silver, too. I gotta take a picture of it in paint though. Some more Bondo was applied to the hood as well. Hopefully it will be smooth after this. The main thing was to mask those blue areas from body away and then I sprayed Tamiya's TS-7 Racing White on. So far so good, I will see how it looks next year when the paint is dry. Happy New Year Everyone! Three and half hours and it's 2015!
  22. That sure looks like a good starting point for a build. Saving these old Glue Bombs is a lot of fun. It's really nice to see them coming back to life and I bet it will happen with this one as you're a talented builder. Taking these apart might be interesting, too. Sometimes the parts come apart really easily, but sometimes it seems to be an impossible task. I hope this is one of those easier ones... My AMT '58 Impala definitely wasn't. I can't wait to see more.
  23. I've tried with a paint brush, too. Anyway the door panels are full of flocking material before and after painting them. I've tried with and without masking tape... Maybe it's just me .
  24. Michael: Thanks! Your builds were super clean too, so I appreciate it a lot. Jonathan: I agree, the Oldsmobile looks really good. Thanks for the kind words! I think it's the one I'm the most proud of. I can't wait to see your builds, too, as I know they will be top notch. Happy New Year! Joe: Thanks Buddy! I agree that my skills have improved a lot during the last couple of years. And I think one reason for that is this forum with its great builders and tips & tricks. Heh I knew you'd like the Hemi in that Charger ! Just as much as I like the 409 in that Impala. Happy New Year to you, too. And to everyone else of course as well.
  25. MagicMustang: That is the first time I've seen that Edsel kit built! It looks great. I wish I had one of those on my shelf... Well, maybe someday. Didn't even remember that the '65 Chevelle even existed either. Great looking models!
